Sophie grumbled, “But it's only a few more boxes of cookies. I'll sit down while I do it.”

Reed leaned down and kissed
her on the nose. “Meg can take care of the cookies. That's why you hired her, remember? My job is to take care of you and our baby.” He whispered seductively in her ear, “Sophie, if you come with me, I'll buy you some ice cream.
”
Oh, he knew her weakness!

“
Peanut butter passion?”

“
Of course.”

“
Can we get pizza too?”

“
Of course.”

Sophie sighed in defeat. “Okay, I'll go but I still can't believe
you found me!” She rested a hand on her back and rubbed her round belly. “I usually have mad ninja skills when it comes to hiding.”

Reed looked at her in disbelief and laughed. “I hate to tell you this, Sophie, but your mad skills need some work. Last summer, it took me two minutes to find you hiding behind that bakery table. It took even less time than that to spot you behind the cookies.”

“
Hold on, I was hiding behind that table of disgusting rye bread for a good ten minutes! You knew I was there the whole time? Oh, God! How embarrassing!”

She put her hands over her face in mortification but Reed took them and held them against his chest.

“
It wouldn't matter how well you hide, I'll always find you.”

Sophie smiled and smoothed her hands up his chest to rest on his shoulders. “Maybe
I wanted to be found.”

He wrapped her in his arms and gave her a long, loving kiss. When he drew back, her husband gazed down at her like a man who'd finally gotten his heart's desire.

“
So, did I, Sophie. So, did I.”
