Edward took that for the opening that it was and slipped his tongue into her mouth. She moaned again, felt herself going limp and pliant as a rush of heat filled her at that first touch. She pressed her tongue against his, feeling the two winding around each other. Suddenly she wanted more, needed more and she pulled her head back in shock. Edward lowered his mouth to her neck, gently nipping and placing soft sucking kisses against the pale smooth skin.

Suzanne loved the feeling of his mouth on her, surety of his movements. She dug her fingers into his hair, clutched at his shoulders and moaned softly.

A sudden burst of laughter came from nearby, bringing the two back to an awareness of where they were and what they were doing. Edward pulled away, gently setting Suzanne down on the ground before he stepped back and ran his fingers through his hair, trying to bring back some semblance of order. Suzanne picked up his jacket and wrapped it around herself before she looked at Edward. They were both panting, both rumpled, Edward’s hair was in complete disarray and his lips were swollen and red from her lipstick. She took a step towards him, swaying slightly in place as her fingers itched to get back in his hair.

Somehow his shirt had come undone slightly, a shadow of chest hair peeking through the gap.

Suzanne found herself wanting to open more buttons and run her fingers and her mouth across his chest,  letting the soft hair tickle her skin even more. Another burst of laughter came, making her jump in surprise.

She almost fell, knocked off balance by her heels and her thoughts but Edward reached out and grabbed her, pulling her close to him again. She gasped in shock as she felt his arousal against her stomach.

“Will you come to my suite?” He asked her quietly.

His breath was hot on her ear and he couldn’t resist gently running his tongue around the shell. Her breath stuttered and she moaned so softly it was almost inaudible. She didn’t need to think to know the answer to his question, and the word was out of her mouth before she could stop herself.

“Yes,” she said.

Edward pressed his mouth against hers again, a quick hard kiss with a gentle nip of her lips, before he pulled away and took her hand to lead her back inside.

The door clicked open and a hand sneaked through to turn on the light. The room was bathed in a warm yellow glow and Edward opened the door fully to let Suzanne through.

She walked in slowly, meekly, with her hands clutching her bag in front of her. Edward followed her, eyes locked on her slim figure as he shut the door. He stood there for a moment, watching her and leaning against the door. She turned to him and smiled. That was all he needed. He stepped forward quickly, his long legs easily covering the ground and wrapped his arms around her. He pulled her to him firmly and covered her mouth with his.

She dropped her bag and wrapped her arms around him, her hands rushing up to bury themselves in his hair once more. The bag thudded to the floor heavily and the room was filled only with gasps and moans and the wet sound of kissing.

Suzanne’s hands danced across Edward’s front, undoing the buttons of his shirt, his waistcoat, confidently tugging his tie down even as their mouths remained locked together. Edward shoved his jacket from her shoulders and ran his hands up and down the bare skin of her back. He pulled her against him, hard, making her throw her head back and moan softly as she felt the evidence of his arousal against her stomach. He attached his mouth to her neck, gently walking her backwards across the room until she felt the bed against the back of her knees. She fell back on to it, bouncing in the sumptuous quilt and then began to shuffle further up the bed.

Edward grinned and knelt on the foot of the bed, crawling towards her. She smiled and lifted one leg, the skirts of her dress falling back to reveal long slim muscles clad in smooth creamy skin. She pressed her heel against his shoulder, holding him in place. He grinned again and began to pull of her shoes. He ran his hands up her legs, making her giggle and moan as he found sensitive spots that set her heart racing. He surged forward, covering her body with his and began to push her dress up.

Suzanne pushed him away, sitting up and kissing him again as she pulled off his shirt, trapping his arms and revealing the broad muscles of his chest with their covering of downy hair. She leaned forward, tracing his muscles with her lips, her teeth, her tongue.

He shivered and moaned as she sucked at one of his nipples and then he fought with his clothes, tearing them off before pushing her back and laying on top of her once more. Suzanne giggled and then moaned as he kissed her deeply, his hands once more tugging at her dress.

She could feel his arousal, the hard solid ridge of his cock pressing against her and her hips began to move and flex against him. Edward groaned, pulling back to undo his trousers and push them down. Suzanne twisted and turned, pulling at the dress’s clasps and zips until finally she got it off. She laughed again as Edward was forced to sit back and pull off his socks.

When he turned back to her the breath left his body in a shuddering pant of desire, she lay there clad only in delicate bits of lace, her hair spread out across the pillows. He groaned, ripped off his boxers and threw himself on top of her again. He couldn’t wait, he had to have her. Suzanne didn’t fight him, she lay back, her hands running across every patch of skin that she could reach.

She grasped the firm muscles of his buttocks in her hands and pulled him against her, kissing him hard and moaning. She threw back her head as Edward tugged off her underwear and then gasped in surprise and pleasure as, without warning, Edward thrust himself inside her.

They moved together as one, their bodies bending and flexing. Suzanne moaned out her pleasure as she felt him thrusting against her, inside her, every movement sending sparks of desire running through her. Her nails dug into his back as her pleasure grew, she began to whimper, her entire body shaking. She had never felt anything like it, even with her ex-husband, and she began to cry out as the pressure inside her grew higher and higher, reaching for release. Edward covered her mouth with his, kissing her and sharing the same air as he gasped for breath. She was exquisite, warm and wet and tight.

It felt as though she had been made just for him. He grabbed her hips firmly, pounding into her as his desire grew stronger and stronger.

Suzanne couldn’t believe it, her entire body went limp for a moment before her climax washed over her. She tensed, tightened, twisted and writhed in Edward’s arms, crying out her pleasure. She practically screamed as Edward kept thrusting, drawing out the moment of her orgasm for seconds that felt like minutes. His mouth slammed on to hers, swallowing her cries.

She shivered as the pleasure receded slightly but remained, hovering at the edge of their passion, promising to return at any moment. But it was enough for Edward, he had felt too much, the tightening and squeezing that her wet passage made around his thick cock sent him over the edge, Suzanne’s cries of passion the final tipping point that added an almost painful burst to the pleasure rushing through him.

He groaned, moaned against Suzanne’s mouth as he thrust into her a few more times, sending hot bursts of his completion deep inside her. He fell still, collapsing against her but twisting to the side so that he didn’t crush her with his weight. He drew her to his side, holding her tightly. They lay there, wrapped around each other, panting and covered in a glistening layer of sweat.

“Wow,” Edward said, gasping for breath.

“That was amazing,” Suzanne said in agreement.

Edward looked at her and smiled gently. He reached up and brushed a strand of hair from her face before cupping her cheek and kissing her softly.

The next morning they were bathed in light, shivering in the sudden coldness that filled the room.

Suzanne twitched and rolled over, burrowing into Edward’s side. She was sore, they had had sex three more times that night and done other things too once Edward’s incredible stamina had finally reached its limit. She was sore but happy and she mumbled softly, pressing a kiss to Edward’s chest. Then her phone rang and she rolled over to answer it.

“Suzanne, how’d it go?” Tiffany’s voice said loudly down the phone, “Were there any problems?”

“None,” Suzanne said, glancing at Edward who had woken up and was now looking at her. “There were no problems, everything went really well.”

“It was a success,” Edward said. “It was exactly what we were looking for and we’ll be sure to inform your boss.”

Tiffany squealed down the phone as she realised what was going on and Suzanne hurriedly hung up. She turned on Edward.

“I can’t believe you just did that,” she hissed. “Now what am I supposed to do?”

Edward just lay back and crossed his hands behind his head, grinning at her.

“I have one or two ideas,” he said with a heated look at Suzanne.

She grinned and leaned towards him.

CHAPTER 5

Suzanne left the hotel a few hours later, leaving Edward sprawled on his bed with a wide grin spread across his face. They exchanged another kiss before they left but Suzanne didn’t let it deepen too much. She was still sore and exhausted but it had the delicious twinge of satisfaction and pleasure. It was a soreness gained from a night well spent and she had thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Now every time she moved she would remember all the things that she and Edward had done to each other and how amazing it had been. She couldn’t help but smile to herself as she stepped out of the hotel and on to the street.

The day was cold and people were bustling around wrapped up in thick coats. She hadn’t thought to bring a change of clothes, she hadn’t really planned to need one and so she found herself wandering the streets of Nottingham in an evening dress as all the morning workers rushed to their jobs. She knew that she was getting confused looks and she could feel the embarrassment filling her up. She had to get home and she had to change but she had no car. The car that she had taken to the event had been sent by Tiffany and she didn’t dare ring their boss to ask for another car to come and pick her up. She would know instantly what Suzanne had been doing and she would immediately face a dressing down from the other woman. There was only one thing for it. She would have to call Claire.

“Claire?” Suzanne said as the phone picked up, “Claire are you busy?”

“I was just watching the end of JK, why?” Claire mumbled through a mouthful of something, “What’s wrong?”

“I need a lift home.” Suzanne said hesitantly. “And maybe a change of clothes?”

“What the hell have you been doing?!” Claire cried. “Where are you? Are you ok?”

Suzanne waited for the chance to get a word in edgeways between her friend’s rapid fire questions. Eventually Claire paused for breath and Suzanne took her chance.

“Claire I’m fine.” She said firmly, “I’m just really cold, I’m not dressed for the daytime and I’ve got no way of getting home that won’t cost a fortune in taxi fare.”

“Where the hell are you?” Claire cried.

“…” Suzanne hesitated. “I’m in Nottingham.”

“Nottingham?!” Claire shrieked, “What the hell are you doing in Nottingham?”

“I’ll explain later,” Suzanne said quickly. “Will you just come and get me? I’m freezing my tits off here. And a homeless man keeps eyeing up my shoes.”

“Fine, fine,” Claire said. “You better have an explanation for me though.”

The phone clicked silent and Suzanne let out a sigh of relief. Then she spotted the homeless man looking at her again and quickly walked away.

“Feel better now?” Claire asked as Suzanne left the bathroom.

They were in a coffee shop in the centre of Nottingham. Claire had used one of the car parks and met Suzanne in the shop where she had taken refuge from the cold and from the homeless man that seemed to love her shoes. Claire had thoughtfully brought a bag of warm casual clothes with her and as soon as she had spotted it Suzanne had snatched it from her friend and raced off to change.

“I feel so warm,” Suzanne said happily. She sat down, wincing as she did so.

“What’s wrong?” Claire asked sharply, “I saw that.”

“Nothing’s wrong,” Suzanne said quickly. “Why would anything be wrong?”

“What did you do?” Claire asked sternly. She paused, “Who did you do?”

“No one!” Suzanne cried.

People turned to look at her as her voice rose. She looked around and they all quickly returned to their conversations and papers.

“Suzanne,” Claire snapped, “I’ve known you long enough to tell when you’re lying. What happened last night that left you in Nottingham in a ball gown?”

The silence stretched between them. Suzanne didn’t want to say anything, she knew what her friend’s response would be. But she also knew that they wouldn’t be going anywhere until she explained what had happened.

“Do you remember that event I mentioned?” Suzanne eventually asked, “The one that Tiffany got to organise all by herself?”

“Yes…” Claire said slowly.

“Well it was for Genesis Research,” Suzanne said. She rushed on, “Now I didn’t realise who exactly ran Genesis Research and I didn’t pay it any attention to be honest. It was below my paygrade and I just needed to sign off on things.”

“And?” Claire asked, “What’s that got to do with last night?”

“Well Tiffany had a problem with Dale,” Suzanne said. “You know, the usual thing, and she had to stay with him, so I went instead. Last night.”

“Wait a minute…” Claire said. “Isn’t Genesis Research owned and run by… Edward!”

“Yeah,” Suzanne said cringing.

“Oh my god you slept with him,” Claire said. “What did I tell you about that?! I warned you he was no good for you and now he’s gone and left you in the middle of Nottingham with no way of getting home! I told you he was trouble! Why didn’t you listen to me? Why do you never listen to me? I warned you over and over and he’s gone and done exactly what I said he would. What were you thinking?”

“I was thinking it’s been over a year since I’ve had any one down there and it was high time I got some action from somewhere,” Suzanne snapped. “We have this amazing chemistry and he was there and I wanted him. And for your information he did offer me a lift home but I decided to leave so things didn’t get awkward.”

“Oh…” Claire said.

They lapsed into silence again, both of them sipping their coffees.

“So… how was it?” Claire eventually asked.

Suzanne grinned and leaned forward to share the details with her best friend.

When she got home to her flat Suzanne was surprised to see a text from Edward already waiting on her phone. It pinged as soon as she plugged it in to charge, the battery having gone flat somewhere around Birmingham. She read the message and couldn’t help but smile.

Hi S, I had a great time last night and I was hoping we could do it again sometime. What do you think? E xx

Suzanne smiled at first but slowly her smile faded as Edward’s words sunk in to her mind. He wanted to repeat the night. He hadn’t said anything about seeing each other for anything but sex, he hadn’t even asked if she had gotten home ok. She began to wonder whether all she was to Edward was a warm body to share his bed with now and then. Her subconscious and fingers were ahead of her and before she knew it she’d sent a reply.

E, I had a great time too. I definitely would like to repeat it. When were you thinking? S xx

She remembered the way that he had touched and kissed her body, the way that he had made her moan, how he had felt moving inside her.

He had been strong and firm and yet so very gentle that it had taken her breath away. Just remembering the night before made her body quiver, and a thrill of pleasure ran through her from her sore nether regions.

Maybe this would be her chance she thought to herself, spending more time with him could be the opportunity she needed to get him to open up more. After all, men tended to open up more after sex and it could draw them closer together.

Her phone beeped.

I might need to wait a little while I’m afraid, you’ve completely exhausted me. But I am free for dinner on Friday night if you’d like. E xx

That suggestion made Suzanne pause. He was suggesting dinner, Edward was suggesting dinner! He had never suggested dinner before, only drinks or a quick lunch. But now here it was, in printed letters. He wanted to take her to dinner, nothing about sharing a room, nothing about going to bed together or repeating the night before as soon as possible. In fact it seemed like he wasn’t after sex with her at all. Her heart began to race and her stomach filled with butterflies. She could barely contain her excitement as she typed out a reply.

Dinner sounds great. I’ll have to check my diary to see what time I finish but Friday evening is free from some point. Where did you want to go? S xx

I was thinking somewhere fancy, like Carluccio’s down on the high street, I want to see you in a fancy dress again, you look so sexy. Bring your diary with you when you come, I have an idea and I want to make sure that you’re available.

Just let me know what time you can make it and I’ll have my secretary book us a table. Looking forward to it. E xx

Suzanne hugged herself and giggled. Then, after sending a quick response, lightly teasing and slightly curious about his idea that needed her diary, she text Claire, telling her of this new development. Claire’s response was surprised but Suzanne wasn’t surprised to see that her best friend still had some reservations about Edward and wasn’t afraid to share them. Suzanne couldn’t help but wish that Claire would grow to like him one day.

“I just want to know why you won’t talk about your marriage,” Suzanne said one night a few months later.

They had had dinner together, several in fact and even a few nights away, spread out over the last three months since the night they got together at Genesis Research’s event. Suzanne had undoubtedly enjoyed herself. Edward was a perfect gentleman when they were out in public together. He seemed to really listen when she began to talk to him about her day and he tried to keep the information that he shared about his research as simple as possible so that she could understand it. She loved to watch him speak so passionately about his work, about the things that got him fired up. His hands would move around, waving excitedly the more animated he got and he genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing his ideas with her.

She was beginning to notice though, more and more, that whenever Suzanne brought up the past, tried to discuss hopes and dreams, her family or even making plans for some time in the future Edward would shut down. At first she had shrugged it off, believing that it was all because the relationship between them, whatever it was, was just so new that Edward didn’t want to put any undue pressure on the pair of them. But as time passed, as they had more and more time together she began to notice that it was any mention of the future or any form of emotional closeness that she tried to start up which Edward would immediately back away from.

At one point she had asked if he wanted to come and stay overnight at hers when he mentioned a conference that was taking place nearby. He had quickly found an excuse to leave the room, claiming he had needed a shower. Suzanne had been hurt, there was no denying it, but she had put on a brave face when he returned and acted as though nothing was wrong. She had tried to bring it up again, playing it off as not wanting him to waste his money on a hotel room when she had a perfectly free bed that he could use but he had insisted on staying at the hotel, claiming it was a business expense that wouldn’t leave him out of pocket and that the hotel was closer to the conference centre then her flat was.

“I just don’t talk about it,” Edward said sternly, “I don’t like to think about it, I don’t like to remember it and I definitely don’t like to talk about it with the woman I’m currently sleeping with.”

“The woman?” Suzanne repeated, “Currently sleeping with?”

Edward looked at her for a moment, his eyes wide like a deer in the headlights. She could tell that he knew that he had said something wrong. She hoped and prayed that he would figure it out for himself.

As the number of nights that they spent together had increased Suzanne had begun to wonder whether that was all it was between them and the thought had crossed her mind that sex was the one truly intimate thing that they shared together.

“I… um…” Edward stammered.

Suzanne couldn’t help but feel a thrill run through her at having this strong intelligent man stammering for words like a teenage boy but her heart sank as she realised that he didn’t really understand that what he had said was wrong.

“Dinner?” Edward suggested.

“No,” Suzanne said firmly. “No, no dinner. I’m going to go now, I’ve just remembered some work at home I need to get done.”

“Can’t it wait?” Edward asked, standing up quickly. He came over to her and put his arms around her, “I mean, this is the first night we’ve had together in weeks. I’ve been really busy with new research and I was barely able to get tonight off.”

“I’m sorry but I can’t,” Suzanne said, pulling away, “I really need to get this event sorted and it’s another difficult client.”

“But it’s just a birthday party,” Edward said. “Surely spending some time with me is more important.”

“It might be just a birthday party to you,” Suzanne said coldly, “but it’s my job. I know it’s not ground breaking research that can make a difference to the entire world like your work but my work is just as important to me. I have to go home and get these things sorted out now while I still remember.”

“Fine,” Edward said with a sigh, “I’ll try to reschedule another night together soon.”

“You do that,” Suzanne said as she pulled on her coat and scarf. “Just check with me first because I might have things planned.”

“We’ll go away for the night,” Edward said quickly. “Somewhere really upmarket where you can be pampered and we can order delicious room service. I saw a lovely spa hotel that could be perfect.”
