              He was drifting in and out of consciousness as he seen Angie fight her way away from her fathe
r’
s arms and run to him. She jumped up on the platform and gently kissed his feet. Looking up from her eyes, he seen the morning sun start to come over the trees. He knew, before long, the whole village would know the truth of who he was.

Chapter 5

         As the soft morning light fell on the small village, Evan could feel the change start. However, this time it was different. There was
n’
t a boost of energy as there normally was. He realized that, all night, his two sides had been fighting each other for dominance. He could feel the switch; instead of the energy he felt pure and utter exhaustion.

              He felt as the hair began to fall off his body and hit Angi
e’
s face. He felt the stares of the villagers on him as the saw the bear head transform back into the head of the man that had become their friend. He looked on as their faces contorted into abnormal shapes as they looked on in horror. No doubt, it was the first time any of them had seen a werebear transform back into a man.

I ca
n’
t believe it
,”
came the voice of his merchant friend, Driek
.“
Evan? It was you all along
?
”

              Evan turned his head to the direction where the voice came. Barely able to open his eyes, he was able to nod his head.

            
 “I’
m sorry
,”
came the sound of his voice, no longer a roar
.“
I did
n’
t mean to hurt anyone
.”
He looked down at Angie, whose face was the only one that had
n’
t looked afraid
.“
I did
n’
t mean to hurt anybody
,”
he said, this time to her.

            
 “
I know you did
n’
t
,”
she told him as she stood up to get a better look at what he had changed into.

              She quickly turned and found the face of her father staring at her in unbelief
.“
I told you her was
n’
t a monster. H
e’
s a Werebear
.”
He did
n’
t acknowledge anything she said.

              Suddenly, out of the midst of the crowd stepped a person he had
n’
t seen since the day he was cat out of the clan. It was the person that had banned him in the first place. It was his father.

            
 “
Hello. My name is Emil. I am the leader of the Blackstock clan of Werebears that live south of the Black Mountains
.”
The villagers looked between each other, each one bewildered that werebears existed
.“
Most of us live without you knowing of us. We are able to control our changes allowing us to mingle with humans without knowing. Others, like Evan, are cursed.

            
 “
Five years ago, he committed a crime that was considered unforgivable by our clan standards, he had an affair with a leade
r’
s wife. Because of this, that clan leader had a medicine man place a curse on Evan that caused him to lose control of his change at night fall. The curse also caused him to have an uncontrollable desire for sex that led him to ravage his prey.

            
 “
In truth, he did not commit these crimes he is accused of; his curse did. The curse was spoken in such a way that if he found true love, he would be set free from it. I am here to declare unto you that he is free from the curse for today, he has found that true love
.
”

Eva

s and Angi
e’
s eyes met. Evan did
n’
t know there was a cure for it.

“
I ask you, this day, to realize that Evan truly did not have control over what he was doing. I urge you to release him and forgive him this day

”

Why should we believe you? Yo
u’
re just like him
.”
That voice belonged to Angi
e’
s dad.

Just then, Emil changed into his bear self, towering above the tallest villager there. A roar loud and strong enough to shake the forest went through the village before Emil brought himself back down to his human form.

I have the ability to control myself. And there are others here like me, that you do not know
.
”

Just then, Eva
n’
s eyes caught sight of his merchant friend, Driek, change into a werebear. The look Evan had was one of astonishment. Driek walked over to Evan, slowly changing back into his human form.

“I’
m sorry, friend. I could
n’
t tell you. I had to protect you. I am the one that called your father here today
.
”

“
Thank you
,”
came the weak voice out of Evans mouth. Driek, along with a couple of the villagers, lifted Evan up, and removed him from the cross.

Where was he to go from here? What was he to do? None of the future mattered much to him as Angie came and wrapped her arms around him. He had found true love, and she came in the form of a sex goddess.
