Charity got out of Travis’s car at the farmhouse. She laughed at the joke he’d just told her as they walked up the stairs to the porch. She had enjoyed their date. He’d kept her entertained, and she liked his attitude. Charity noticed that the window was opened in the living room. She realized Tick must have waited up on her.

“So, how many blind dates have you been on again?” Charity asked, grinning. He’d already told her the answer a little over an hour ago. Ten was the magic number.

“Not nice, Charity.” He said laughing. He then leaned closer to her where she stood near the door. “You are being cruel.”

“Well, you’re the one making leprechaun jokes. Humm…wonder if that may be because I still have green hair because a six year old is too big for his britches.” She told him.

He grinned. “I had a good time tonight.” He said, looking at her lips.

“I did too. I’m glad Katie didn’t end up with you and instead set us up.”

“Me too. I thing Katie only dated me to see how your brother would react anyway.” Travis admitted, grudgingly.

“No, she really did like you. If my brother hadn’t quit being an idiot she might have ended up with you. It’s just she’d loved him since she was sixteen. That was a lot of history for you to compete with.” Charity told him, hoping he wasn’t still upset about what had happened a year ago with him and her brother.

“It’s okay. I don’t hold it against either of them. I’m glad it happened though.” He said leaning closer. His breath brushing her lips, it didn’t make her shiver like Tick’s did she noticed.

“Why’s that?” Charity asked, anticipating his next move would be to kiss her.

“It meant that she set me up with you. And I really like you.” Travis said, just before his lips took hers in a light exploration.

Charity placed her hands on his shoulders, and she felt his hand cup her waist like Tick’s had the other day. It didn’t feel the same. That was when she realized that she was comparing the two men. Why was she doing that, she wondered, feeling his tongue stroke hers. She didn’t even like Tick. She let it go and tried to enjoy the admittedly delicious kiss the man was giving her.

She then heard a loud bang and jumped. Turning to look at the window, she sighed. Asshole, she thought. He’d slammed that on purpose.

“Well, I suppose that’s my cue that I have over stayed my welcome.” Travis chuckled.

“I’m sorry he’s kinda been told to be my keeper, and he knows that my brother is overprotective.” Charity told him grimacing with irritation.

“It’s okay. I’m glad to know that you’re safe here. Your brother chose your keeper well. He’s doing his job.” Travis grinned, making Charity groan in dismay.

“Not you too.” She cried. He looked at her questioningly.

“Not me too, what?” He asked.

“You’re a chauvinistic male who thinks a woman needs protection just like Tick and my brother, aren’t you?” She demanded.

“Guilty.” He told her smiling again.

“Damn. I was really hoping that wasn’t the case.”

“Ah, now darling you wouldn’t like me as much if I wasn’t. It’s what a woman needs, but she’d never admit it. She wants a man to be in charge, but she never wants him to think he is in charge because then she loses the upper hand.” He tapped her on the nose with his finger. “I better go before he gets impatient and comes out here. I’d like to take you out again. Would that be okay?”

“Yes, I’d like that a lot.” Charity said, meaning it.

“Great. Good night, beautiful.” He said before he hopped down the porch to his car.

Charity turned headed into the house pissed that Tick had interrupted her goodnight kiss. She was going to be sure that didn’t happen again, she thought angrily.

Tick stared out the window at the jackass with Charity. He’d walked her to the door, and there was no doubt in Tick’s mind as to why he had. He was going to molest her on his front porch. Charity was laughing at something the idiot had said. He watched them through the open window in the living room. He’d waited up, after all he was her keeper right now. Tick was a little pissed that she was standing out there with that yahoo pressing her back into the railing. Then his lips were on hers, and Tick didn’t like that at all. He didn’t understand why that was though.

He didn’t even like her. Hell she’d tried to burn his dick off less than a week ago. He recalled the other morning when he’d stumbled into her in the hall. He’d caught her hips and jerked her to him to steady her. Her breath had been soft, and it raised the hairs on his neck. He’d felt himself get hard and quickly let her go. He’d spent twenty minutes in a cold shower after that trying to get his unruly dick under control. It was that ass and those perfect tits, he decided. They were to blame for his anger.

He needed to stop dicking around and go see one of the sweetbutt’s to take care of this infernal hard on. He just needed to get laid. That was all. It was getting mixed up because he was in charge of her because her brother had trapped him into being her keeper. Satisfied with that explanation he slammed the window down to get their attention. Seeing Charity jump, and Travis looked at the window. He waited for her to come inside.

Just about the time he was going to go out on the porch to tell her to get her ass in the house she walked in. Her lips were tight and she looked daggers at him.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” She demanded.

“Nothing.” He said looking at her.

“Really? You slammed that window on purpose. Why?” Charity probed.

“Well for starters the man was molesting you on my front porch. And second I don’t want Max to walk in here and see that happening on the front porch. My kid has enough issues.”

“What? That’s what you’re going with? The boy was raised by bikers for goodness sakes. He’s seen worse than kissing I’m sure. You’ve likely had sweetbutt’s over here too, and you’re saying that the boy would be shocked by kissing. That’s just insane. He wouldn’t bat an eyelash.” Charity put her hands on her hips looking at him like he’d lost his mind.

“It doesn’t matter what you think. This is my house, and no I haven’t had sweetbutt’s here with my son home. Besides I haven’t had sex in two years.” Tick growled, then realized what he’d said and cringed. Fuck, he hadn’t meant to say that. It wasn’t like his dick was dysfunctional. He just hadn’t felt right about sex after Vivi was gone.

“Holy shit. Really? No wonder you are such an asshole. You need to get laid. That’s why you did it. You were jealous.” Charity crowed with glee.

“The hell you say? I don’t even like you I was not jealous. If you’d been doing that in the car where I didn’t have to see it I wouldn’t have gave two shits about it.” He grumbled anger filling every word.

“Not over me with another man idiot, but jealous of someone else possibly having sex. Stop ruining my fun cause you’re not getting any.”

“Go to bed, Charity.” He told her gruffly. He was tired of dealing with her bullshit.

“Fine, but my advice is for you to get laid. It might improve you mood.” She turned headed towards the guest room. Still livid with his high handed behavior and his sending her off to bed as if she was a child.

“Are you offering to take care of it, baby girl?” He called after her just to piss her off more as she left the room in a huff. He wasn’t surprised when her reply was to toss a lethal glare over her shoulder at him.

“Hell no!” She hissed, before she disappeared up the stairs.

Charity couldn’t believe what had just happened. Max had pulled another prank. He’d locked her and his father in the pantry. That hadn’t been the unbelievable part. No that had been the fact that Tick had ended up kissing her. She felt a bit bewildered by it happening. One minute they’d been screaming at each other, and the next he’d kissed her. She was still trembling from the encounter.

She just didn’t know why. He’d been telling her that she was supposed to be taking care of these juvenile pranks and why hadn’t she fixed them yet. And the next he’d been kissing her senseless. Then the man had pulled away suddenly. He’d growled that he was horny and she’d just been here. That it was an aberration. Really that’s what he’d called kissing her senseless. She was still reeling from the shock. She was going to accept his assessment though. She didn’t even like him. He was a freaking dick. He’d told her he wouldn’t be home till late.

Then followed it up with a comment about getting laid like she’d suggested. She so did not want to know about him going out to get laid. Not that she blamed the faceless woman Tick was going to screw. The man was seriously hot, and if his kiss was any indication he knew what he was doing in the bedroom.

Fuck, where had she let her mind go, she wondered absently. Then she decided that she just needed to get laid too. She didn’t allow herself to think of the fact that Tick’s kiss had left her breathless and wet, and Travis’s had only made her tingle a little. She headed out to get Max from Colt and Maria’s house.

Walking across the yard she spotted Tick standing near the main farm with two sweetbutt’s. Stupid, bastard. She hoped his dick didn’t work.

Chapter 8

Charity was excited to get another call from Travis about a week later. She had begun to settle into a routine with Tick and Max. Tick was now letting her handle Max’s pranks as she saw fit. She’d only had to spank him once. He was down now to only pulling about one prank a day. They were mostly harmless, only a few that had been dangerous. The improvement was a good sign. Tick had come home at the same time he always did the night of their pantry fiasco. It had surprised her, but she guessed that screwing some chick didn’t take long. She needed to quit thinking about that man.

Travis had called about an hour ago to ask that she go out with him on Friday night and she’d agreed. She was pulling the casserole out of the oven when Tick walked into the kitchen from the backyard.

Looking at him over her shoulder, she smiled. “Dinners almost done. Max is in his room with Connor who I let stay over for the night.” Charity told him, waiting to tell him he needed to find someone else to watch Max Friday night.

“Smells good. What is it?” He asked coming to stand behind her, his chest brushing against her back. It sent a shiver down her spine, making her want to move away from him, and reminding her of their kiss. He reached over her to grab a spoon from the dish rack, and tried to take a bite of the casserole. She smacked his hand away.

“Stop, wait for dinner. Besides you smell awful go shower.” She said, even though that wasn’t necessarily true. He smelled like sweat, leather and hay. She wanted to bury her face in his chest, which was still pressing against her back and just breathe that scent in.

“Woman, stop hitting me.” Tick grumbled, his hand now coming to rest on her hip. His body pressed hers into the counter as he leaned forward to steal a bite of the food. She was frozen in place by the feel of him pressed so closely to her back.

He dipped the spoon into the dish bringing it close to his lips. She felt him blow gently on the hot spoonful to cool it. Shivers rushed down her neck as his warm breath brushed along her neck. She almost moaned. What the hell was wrong with her, she wondered. He finally popped the spoon into his mouth eating the bite, letting out a groan of satisfaction.

“Damn, that’s fantastic. Is there any food you can’t turn into a masterpiece?” When she smiled at him warmed by his praise, and feeling turned on, he grinned. “I’ll hurry.” Then the man turned and walked out of the kitchen.

Charity was trembling when she moved back from the counter. She didn’t understand why her body was betraying her this way. The man was a jerk, and she shouldn’t feel like she was on fire from a simple touch like the ones he’d just given her, but she did. His touch made her heart race and her breath catch, and she didn’t understand why.

He was rude, and he felt entitled. Those traits alone should turn her off, but for some reason she just felt on edge and horny. She didn’t like feeling that way. Not one damned bit. She hadn’t felt this turned on when Travis had kissed her. She just didn’t understand why. Travis was an awesome guy. He was polite and he didn’t have a bratty kid that made her crazy. She just didn’t know what was causing this fascination she had for Tick. Maybe it was just chemistry.

Deciding that it wasn’t worth anymore thought, she walked to the table and began scooping out casserole for it to cool. She was still flustered when she headed back into the kitchen to grab the rolls and some drinks for everyone.

Tick stood beneath the hot spray of the water with a massive hard on. He was thinking of Charity’s perfect ass, and the sight of her pretty tits as he peaked over her shoulder at them just a few moments ago. He had instantly been hard as a lead pipe. He groaned, as he took his thicken member into his hand. Unable to stop himself. She was just too fucking sexy.

That was what had happened in the pantry. He’d been a little pissed that he’d been locked in there with her because she was wearing the shortest cut off shorts he’d ever seen. When she’d bent over to try to pick the lock, he’d thought his cock was going to burst out of his pants. Fuck he ass was perfect. He squeezed his cock. Moaning, at the thought of her bent over. He’d wanted to move in behind her and garb that sweet little ass. Right before he ripped off her clothes and fucked her within an inch of her life.
