Cooking Time: 2-3 hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 4-qt.

½ cup flour

¼ cup sugar

¾ tsp. baking powder

⅓ cup milk

1 Tbsp. oil

½ tsp. vanilla

¼ cup peanut butter

½ cup sugar

3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup boiling water

1. Combine flour, ¼ cup sugar, and baking powder. Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Stir in peanut butter. Pour into slow cooker.

2. Mix together ½ cup sugar and cocoa powder. Gradually stir in boiling water. Pour mixture over batter in slow cooker. Do not stir.

3. Cover and cook on High 2-3 hours, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Serving suggestion: Serve warm with
vanilla ice cream
.

Chocolate Fudge Sauce

Makes 1½-2 cups sauce

Prep Time: 10-15 minutes

Cooking Time: 1½ hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 4- to 5-qt.

5 squares unsweetened baking chocolate

1 stick (½ cup) butter, cut in pieces

5.3-oz. can evaporated milk

3 cups powdered sugar

1½ tsp. vanilla extract

1. Mix all ingredients in slow cooker.

2. Cover and cook on High 30 minutes. Stir.

3. Cover and cook up to another hour, or until chocolate and butter are melted and sauce is smooth.

4. Store in refrigerator.

Serving suggestion: Serve over ice cream and cake! Or use it as a fondue for fruit!

Variation:

Add ½ cup smooth or chunky peanut butter to Step 1.

Seven Layer Bars

Makes 6-8 servings

Prep. Time: 5-10 minutes

Cooking Time: 2-3 hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 4- to 5-qt.

¼ cup melted butter

½ cup graham cracker crumbs

½ cup chocolate chips

½ cup butterscotch chips

½ cup flaked coconut

½ cup chopped nuts

½ cup sweetened condensed milk

1. Layer ingredients in a bread or cake pan that fits in your slow cooker, in the order listed. Do not stir.

2. Cover and bake on High 2-3 hours, or until firm.

Remove pan and uncover. Let stand 5 minutes.

3. Unmold carefully on plate and cool.

Easy Chocolate Clusters

Prep. Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 2 hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 4-qt.

2 lbs. white coating chocolate, broken into small pieces

2 cups (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips

4-oz. pkg. sweet German chocolate

24-oz. jar roasted peanuts

1. Combine coating chocolate, chocolate chips, and German chocolate. Cover and cook on High 1 hour. Reduce heat to Low and cook 1 hour longer, or until chocolate is melted, stirring every 15 minutes.

2. Stir in peanuts. Mix well.

3. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until set. Store at room temperature.

Apple Honey Tea

Makes 6 1-cup servings

Prep. Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 1-2 hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 1-qt.

12-oz. can frozen apple juice/cider concentrate

2 Tbsp. instant tea powder

1 Tbsp. honey

½ tsp. ground cinnamon

1. Reconstitute the apple juice/cider concentrate according to package directions. Pour into slow cooker.

2. Add tea powder, honey, and cinnamon. Stir to blend.

3. Heat on Low 1-2 hours.

Serving suggestion: Stir well before serving since cinnamon tends to settle on bottom.

2 quarts apple cider

1 tsp. whole allspice

1½ tsp. whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

2 oranges sliced, with peels on

1. Combine brown sugar and cider in slow cooker.

2. Put spices in tea strainer or tie in cheesecloth. Add to slow cooker. Stir in orange slices.

3. Cover and simmer on Low 2-8 hours.

Variation:

Add a dash of ground nutmeg and salt.
