“They’re running late and are
going to meet us.”

She imitated a
high-class snoot and continued, “and sent the limo to make it up to us.”

I laughed.

Kate had clearly spent the ride over
exploring, because she went straight to the little cabinets and pulled out two
glasses and poured us each a glass of champagne.

“Fancy!”

I giggled as she handed me my
glass.

By the time we arrived at the
Belvoux
we were both giddy with excitement.

“There he is!”

Kate whispered, pressing her finger to
the glass.

“That’s Casey.”

I crossed my fingers, straining
to see Kate’s date.

He looked to be
about five foot eleven, and built like a cyclist or some other sort of
endurance athlete.

“He looks cute,” I said, “now
where is mine?”

We both stared out of the tinted
windows and my stomach nearly turned when I realized
who
I would be spending the rest of my night with.

He was a good five inches shorter than
Casey, and at least twice as thick.

His hair was thin on the sides, and but for the few small clumps which
he had grown long and combed over the top he was entirely bald on top.

He also looked to be about fifty or
sixty by all estimates.

Sure, I
could appreciate an older, mature man, but this guy looked to be older than my
father.

“Oh…No… Lacey, please stay.”

She looked at me with desperate
horror.

She knew that this guy was
not going to cut it and that she was going to owe me huge for tonight.

I picked up the a little bottle
of vodka and cracked it.

“Cheers.”

I said dully,
turning the bottle up and downing the entire thing.

I threw the bottle on the floor and
coughed harshly.

Kate stared at me with a mixed
look of humor and pity.

“Thanks
Lace.”

The driver had come to a stop and
opened the door for us, our gentlemen had already drawn close to the door and
they helped each of us out of the car.

“Charles,” Casey said is a smooth
tone, “this is Kate, and this is her friend…?”

“Lacey,”

I finished, shaking both of their hands
and already feeling the warmth of the vodka as it began pulsing through my
veins.

Charles and Casey both smiled at
me, and as a second car pulled up behind me, Charles helped a brown haired
woman lady out of the car and kissed her on the cheek.

“Ladies, this is my wife,
Betsy.”

I gave Kate a sideways glance and
introduced myself politely to Betsy.

Charles and Betsy stated off towards the entrance and Casey took the two
of us by our arms and led us in behind them.

“I sense relief?”

Casey said quietly and winked at
me.

I blushed, hoping I wasn’t so
obvious as to have insulted Charles or his wife.

“Don’t worry, Ethan is about
twenty years younger and about eight inches taller,” he grinned.

By the time dinner was finished,
Charles and his wife excused themselves and said their good nights.

It turned out that they were old friends
with Casey’s parents had surprised him by coming into town tonight.

They were honestly a really fun and
sweet couple and considering my date still hadn’t shown, I was disappointed to
see them go.

Casey paid for dinner,
which was over four hundred dollars by my estimate, and we headed inside to the
soaking pools where we split up to change.

As soon as we were on our own
Kate started laughing hysterically.

“I was so mortified for you!

Thank God that wasn’t your date.”

“I don’t know, he was actually
one of the more charming guys I’ve met,”

I laughed, “besides, we still don’t even know if my date is going to
show up.”

“Casey say’s he’ll be here.”

Kate lifted my hair as I tried to fasten
my suit.

“Let me help you with
that.”

By now I was feeling quite
loose.

The alcohol had really gone
to my head, and I wished I hadn’t slammed that bottle.

It really wasn’t flattering to be half
sloshed, but my date was over and hour late and I was well beyond worrying
about first impressions.

Besides,
it did make me feel relaxed.

I
threw my cover-up back into my bag and tucked it away in my locker.

Following Kate I felt a pang of
self-consciousness, but it was too late, I wasn’t rushing back into the locker
room to cover up.

Besides, Kate
could give anyone body image issues.

She was maybe five foot five, with long, naturally blonde hair and
bright blue eyes.

She had the most
perfect, angular little nose, and lips that wanted for nothing.

Her legs were built slender, but were
lean and toned.

Her thighs had a
gap between them, and her waist was slim and tight.

Despite weighing only about one ten,
Kate had curves.

We used to joke
that her butt was some sort of Frankenstein creation, because it was curved and
plump and looked like it belonged on a girl twice her size.

Guys had always loved Kate, from the get
go, which made it all the more comical that she tended to be timid and
shy.

Just as we were stepping into the
water of the hottest pool, they guys locker room opened and in walked Casey,
and there behind him walked in the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes
on.

Kate squeezed my hand with
excitement for me.

“Yay!”

She chirped.

I turned to Kate with a look of
horror on my face.

“What?”

“Ethan, is Mr. Avery…”

“Your boss?”

Kate’s face lit up in a devilish
grin.

“No wonder you have a thing
for him.”

She winked at me, just as
the two of them met us.

“Lacey,” Mr. Avery greeted me
with a sideways grin.

Casey looked surprised that Ethan
and I had met.

“I…I work for Mr. Avery,” my voice
squeaked as my cheeks blushed a fiery red.

“Call me Ethan,” he said in a low
voice, “and tonight,” his eyes slowly rolled up and down my practically naked
body,

“you work for no one.”

I practically melted at the sound
of his voice.

He was so damned sexy
and the way he just looked at me…like he was seeing me for the first time, and
like he was…hungry.

Casey laughed at the coincidence
and introduced Ethan to Kate.

Kate
smiled and shook his hand, cocking her head to the left coquettishly.

I felt a little pang of jealousy.

There was no way I could compete with
her, even if she was already practically claimed by his best friend.

“Nice to make your acquaintance.”
He said casually, turning back in my direction without even a glance at Kate’s
drop dead gorgeous frame.

“Shall
we?” he said, holding out his arm to me and leading me into the pools.

“I believe I owe you a drink to make up
for my tardiness.”

His eyes were
dark and seemed to smolder with an emotion that I couldn’t quite place.

I glanced over my shoulder at
Kate as Casey took her by the arm and led her in a different direction.

“Yum!” She mouthed.

By all accounts I was
flustered.

I could see his toned
abs out of the corner of my eye, flexing gently as he led me into the water and
down a dark corridor.

“Do you have any idea what time
it is Lacey?”

I shook my head.

The darkness opened up to a wide
room with a swim up bar.

Two Martinis, Grey Goose, extra
olives.”

“Certainly Mr. Avery.”

The bartender instantly went to work fixing
our drinks.

Ethan looked me in the eyes with
one of his brows raised condescendingly.

“Well, it’s after ten, and if I remember correctly, that means you have
only nine hours to be in my office ready for work.”

“Well,” I yawned
theatrically.

“I had planned to be
in bed by eleven, but it seems my date was almost two hours late.”

Ethan’s face grew dark and
serious.

“Yes, in bed by
eleven…

That’s exactly what I was
thinking.”

‘Holy crap,’
I thought to myself as I met his devilish gaze.

‘He
is SO coming on to you.’

The bartender placed our drinks
before us and I was thankful for the interruption.

I grabbed mine and started back towards
the way we had come.

“Not so fast, follow me.”

Ethan slid his arm around my waist and
turned me towards another watery passage.

I took a sharp inhale at the
electricity of his touch.

Ethan
turned his head in my direction and grinned.

‘Way
to be obvious,’
I scolded myself.

This passage was darker than the one
before, and the walls were decorated with a beautiful array of fiber optics
that pulsed and danced down the corridor.

Ethan had loosened his grip on my
waist, as the hall narrowed and we had to walk single file.

His hand managed however, to find mine
in the darkness.

I followed him with
a giddy dumb grin on my face, feeling like a little girl on her first
date.

We opened into a small
circular room with a waterfall that poured down like a curtain in the middle of
the space.

It was pitch black but
for the tiny glowing strands that were suspended in the water.

Ethan led me around to the backside of
the cove and he turned towards me.

Our bodies were just inches from one another and the faint scent of his
cologne met my sense.

My back was against the wall now,
and Ethan was stretched out before me as he took a big gulp of his drink.

I mirrored him in the dim light,
watching the slow movement of his body.

Ethan took my glass and set it aside along with his own.

“Do you have any idea what I want
to do to you right now?”

I shook my head.

I had an idea of what I wanted him to do
to me, but I never in a million years imagined that he was on par with my
desires.

Ethan’s hands slid
over my hips, making my entire body shudder with pleasure.

My heart was suddenly pounding so hard I
could feel it in my temples, and between my thighs.

“Turn around,” he breathed.

“But Mr. Avery,” I pulled
back.

Fucking the boss was low, and
I was afraid to put myself on the same level as women like Dina.

“Go then.”

He said, stepping aside and giving me full
more than enough room to easily walk away.

But my legs wouldn’t budge.
