“Much better,” she stated.

“You like the view?”

“Very much,” she said with a nod. “You know, our first time you were in charge, if memory serves me.”

“Yeah, I was.”

“Well I think tonight I should be in charge.”

“And what would you do?”

Her eyes roamed over his body, his cock throbbed in need. Darius didn’t think he’d ever had been turned on like this by just having a woman look his body over.

She crawled up on the bed, right between his legs. Cool hands slid up both legs, nails scraping gently. He stiffened when she reached the scar that he worked very carefully at hiding from any of his past lovers. One finger traced it, then she did the unexpected. She leaned forward and kissed the mark.

He sucked air into his lungs. Those dainty fingers of her wrapped around the length of his cock and slowly moved up and down as she blew hot breath on the heavy sac underneath.

Thinking went out the door, as did any thought of speaking. She massaged the length with a skill he didn’t think she had or learned, but then it came to him that she had to have been book trained. She did tell him that she read a lot.

“You know there are a few things I’m just dying to try,” she stated, still moving her hand up and down on him.

He swallowed hard, took a deep breath and fought to focus on what she said. “What—what’s that?”

“Few different positions.” Her grin had him twitching under her hand.

“Which ones?”

Her hand left him and her whole body crawled up on his, knees right at his shoulders. “What do you think?”

Darius grinned big. Right then he felt like a little boy about to get a very special treat. “Then turn around and let’s make this extra special.”

He didn’t have to explain more. She turned, leaned down and instantly her lips closed around the head of his cock, sucking only it. He groaned, pressed his head harder into the pillow and lost himself in the pleasure. Her tongue flicked around the head, teeth grazed it and lips sucked hard. Then just like that, she stopped.

“I thought this was going to be a together thing,” she stated.

“With pleasure.”

Taking hold of her hips, pushing the thin skirt up to her waist, Darius brought her sweet flesh down to his face. He sucked at the lips of her sex, satisfied when she sucked her breath in loudly and moaned. Hips wiggled a few times before that mouth he loved wrapped around his cock once more.

She sucked, he licked, and within seconds, they found a rhythm
together. She moaned around his flesh each time he flicked the tip of his tongue over her clit. He hoped to give her as much pleasure as he could, only Makayla stopped everything and moved herself back down his body keeping her back to him.

In a blink of an eye, she lowered herself down, taking him into her body. The tightness of her flesh almost became his undoing. He had to bite the inside of his mouth to stop himself from coming right then.

Makayla leaned back, hands on his chest and rotated her hips in a perfect circle with a few up and down motions. Oh, he wanted to die from it, it felt so good.

“Fuck, you’re killing me!” he moaned, holding onto her hips.

He never realized how limber she was until she arched her back even more and it felt like she took him deeper into her body. Hair teased his chest and his hands itched for more flesh. Reaching up he found that with the angle he could cup both breasts and he did just that; He squeezed the mounds, pulled at the nipples and moaned at the extra tightness as she gripped his cock.

“Shit!” He couldn’t hold back any longer, and thankfully neither could she.

Her sweet climax contracted around him so tight he wondered for a split second if he might end up with bruises on his dick! The sync in which they came amazed him also. Her muscles contracted, as did his, and it seemed to draw out the pleasure until she dropped down on him.

They both were breathing hard and fast, and he held her tight against him, waiting in ecstasy as the last few contractions eased away.

“I’ve just died,” he sighed.

She wiggled and giggled before sliding off him, turning to her side and snuggling up against him. “Yeah, we both did and come morning a new life begins.”

Darius turned his head, staring into her eyes, feeling something he hadn’t felt since Sara died. He turned to his side, touched her face and slid his hand over her shoulder, down her arm to her hip.

“I think you’re right,” he said low. “I think the day I first saw you was the day I started to come alive. I never thought that would happen after Sara’s death.”

“Give me time and I might just have you falling in love with me.” She smiled.

He touched her face again, leaned in and kissed her gently on the lips. “I think I already am.”

She lit up before his eyes and wrapped herself around his body as much as she could since they were both lying face to face. Darius held her tight, buried his face into her hair and felt himself relax for the first time in many years.

This is just what I need.

Chapter Eight

“So what do you think?” Makayla twirled around in her new ball gown she’d bought for the yearly charity ball.

The gown was pale blue silk and no way would she be able to wear underwear since it was too thin. The v-neckline was cut low, with narrow straps that went around to the back, ending at the curve of her ass. Her completely exposed back, and a long slit up the front, made it simple yet very sexy. The only piece of jewelry that she had to go with it was a set of long teardrop-shaped chandelier earrings, which just about reached her shoulders. That morning, as she had her hair styled, she made sure the hairdresser pulled the sides back so the earrings would show. Now she stood in front of him in their bedroom, holding her breath, waiting to see his reaction.

Darius walked around her, touched her bare back, which sent chills down her spine. A quick kiss to her flesh and he stood in front of her in his black tux.

“I like,” he said.

She blew out the air she had been holding. “Good. I was worried it might be too much. Never been to one of these things before.”

“You look great.” He took hold of her hands, pulling her into his arms. “Good enough to eat in fact.”

Makayla didn’t even think about holding back her smile. His words made her happy.

She’d awakened before him, slipped into one of his shirts and went down to the kitchen to fix a surprise breakfast of steak and eggs. He joined her just as she plated the food. They ate, talked a bit. He shared a few stories about his sister, and how he spent a whole day teaching her how to ride a bike. It was a memory that left a pleasurable expression on his face, one she didn’t want to end.

Doing the dishes didn’t go as fast as what it should’ve. They ended up in a water fight, then on the floor where they had quick, pleasurable sex, then a shower, which almost ended the same way. But a call from his lawyer ended their play and soon it was time to get ready for the ball. She met her sister and Kera along with Shyla, Blaine’s wife for a quick lunch, then a half day at a spay getting ready for the night.

Now, he said, “Unless you want to be unfashionably late, we better go.”  He took her hand and pulled her from the bedroom. “Don’t need more attention than I’m already going to get.”

She looked at him quizzically. “What do you mean?”

“I mean you look hot, and everyone there is going to be drooling.”

She didn’t suppress the smile on her face. A car waited for them out front—a shiny black limo. Still smiling she slipped into the back, giving Darius a quick wink. Anticipation coursed through her veins on the drive into town.

The charity ball had changed recently according to Kera and Samara. Berdina Knight decided that things needed to change and she could no longer rely on people to do as they said they would, like showing up or following through with the contributions they promised and if they wanted to come to the ball then they would have to pay. Now one paid a lot of money to have a nice four-course meal. Once she let Darius know she wanted to go, he shelled out the money. She thought about the menu she’d read on the glossy, embossed invitation they’d received:

First course: Baked claws sautéed in lemon

Second course: Lobster bisque

Main course: Pepper-wine beef tenderloin

Dessert: Strawberry creme brulee

The thought alone of what awaited her upon arrival had her mouth watering, and the wait to get to the place had her squirming in her seat. Darius chuckled, took her hand and kissed the knuckles.

The drive felt like it took hours instead of minutes. The whole upper class of the town of Cane attended the yearly charity ball at The Chateau. This was the only time the grand mansion was open for visitors, and it was lit up as if it was Christmas or the Fourth of July.

They waited their turn as one by one each car and limo unloaded women with radiant smiles on their faces, dressed in elegant dresses. When their turn came, Makayla couldn’t contain her excitement. Looking at Darius, she decided her happiness gave Darius great pleasure, as he grinned in return.  She knew he didn’t really want to attend the event, and was only doing it for her. She would gladly repay him later on.

Her arm linked with his as they walked up the stone steps into the well-lit mansion. She tried to take everything in as he nodded to a few people she guessed he knew. She couldn’t miss the shocked expressions on some women’s faces, saw them whispering to each other, too, but she refused to let it bother her. Tonight she planned on enjoying herself to the fullest and wasn’t going to let anyone crash her party.

“Well, well, look who showed up.” Devon Noved smiled big, shaking hands with Darius. “We were wondering if she’d get your ass here.”

“I’m finding that I’m a bit like you,” Darius said, putting his arm around Makayla’s waist, drawing her closer. “Can’t say no to her.”

His words had her glowing from the inside out. “Yeah, it happens to us all,” Devon stated. “You look lovely, Makayla.”

“Thank you. Where’s Kera?”

“She’s with your sister somewhere, on the phone trying to get Shyla to come.” His smile faded. “She lost the baby.”

“Shit,” Darius sighed.

“Yeah, this one she was really hoping would be the one,” Devon went on. “Blaine’s worried she might get more depressed than she had from the last one. He’s very worried.”

“She hasn’t had it easy, has she?” Darius asked.

“Nope, but hey, let’s not all ruin the night either. I think Kera said something like, if Shyla doesn’t come here, then we’ll all go there.”

“That sounds like a good idea,” Makayla said. “I’d love to meet Nicolai.”

“We’ll see,” Darius said.

She knew why he might be a bit hesitant to go. Things between him and Dane were still up in the air, but she planned on changing that tonight. They needed to get over this crap about her, and Dane needed to accept that she and Darius were married and accept it.

“I’m going to go find my sister.” She leaned up kissing him on the cheek before pulling away.

His eyes were on her, she could feel them and it had her grinning as she walked away. The crowed was thick. It somewhat amazed her how many people attended the charity ball, and how many in town had this kind of money.

She didn’t see her sister, but she did spot Dane in the middle of the crowd talking to one young man she didn’t know. But then again, she didn’t know hardly anyone in this town. Slowly she made her way towards him and once he spotted her his face lit up.

“Makayla!” he called out. With a big smile on her face, Makayla went into his open arms, hugging him back tightly. “I’ve been worried about you.”

“I’m fine,” she said once she pulled out of his arms. “Miss you guys.”

His face dropped. “Yeah, well that can’t be helped.”

“Yes it can.”

She watched his blue eyes dart around the room and knew she had him. By Dane not accepting her getting married, it meant he wasn’t going to forgive Darius for what he did.

Dressed like all the men, Makayla had to admit that her brother in law was a very attractive man, and she could see why her sister was deeply in love with him.

“I’m fine,” she said. “Promise.”

His eyes once more landed on her. “Yeah, unfortunately, I can see that.” The young man to whom Dane had been speaking snickered. “Oh you haven’t met this one. Makayla, this is Nicolai Simoncic, Blaine’s stepson?” Dane asked the boy.

Nicolai nodded. “The adoption went through last week, so in a way I can use the name of Cedric, but I’m going to keep my mother’s.” He smiled at Makayla with his hand out. “A pleasure to meet you.”

Nicolai Simoncic looked to be no more than twenty at the most. He stood tall with broad shoulders and had dark brown hair. His eyes were a bit dark, gray or brown, she couldn’t really tell. They did have life in them and that seemed to be all that mattered.

“And this is one of my only good friends, Zander Vanzant,” Nicolai said. “We met in collage.”

“And he’s my only friend.” Zander smiled, taking Makayla’s hand. “A pleasure to meet you.”

“Zander and his father just moved to Cane,” Dane said. “His father is one of the major contractors in town, and a big contributor here.”

“Yeah, daddy has lots of money that the people here want,” Zander said and snickered. He gave them all a dry smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Sorry. I don’t get along with my father too well. He doesn’t know how to deal with me, as he would say.”

“I understand,” Makayla said. “Had one of those fathers myself. Oh, does that mean you are the ones breaking ground on the hotel?”

“That would be my father, yes,” Zander nodded. “He’s built a five star hotel and I think he plans on announcing it’s opening tonight.”

“Well we don’t have one,” Dane stated.

“Yeah, but do you really need one?” Zander asked in a dry tone. He raised his glass to them all, turned and walked away.

“Sorry about him.” Nicolai blushed. “There has been tension between him and his father since his mother died three years ago. They don’t talk. His father prefers to send him away instead of spending any time with him.”
