Silence.

I am the Frozen Queen.

Beneath me, from the earth, I feel my legions arise and awaken from their slumber.

And this shall be my world.

Forever in ice it shall stay.

Epilogue

I watch.

The girl is now with her mother, and the chill rasp of her form sends crystals of ice to this old dragon’s fiery heart. It hurts to even look at this new queen of snow and ice, and I feel my time with her grows short.

I turn my lumbering head and walk away.

Do not think to betray us, dragon.

“But you know I must. It is my nature.” I speak to her, the Goddess of Ice, once-imprisoned wife of the Frost Giant Blaer.

I walk down the spiral of the Melting Shrine, away from the ice, and into the rising steam from the fires below. “It is my very nature to seek fire and burn.”

You shall fail.

“Balance, Goddess, balance,” I say, my voice echoing through the mist and wetness as the warmth takes me from below. “When the world was young, and the elements were in check. When my kind soared above the skies of this world. When Mankind was just a mistake waiting to happen.”

Balance can never be had again. Do not live in the past, dragon. Your kind is dead and gone. The world is ending.

And it shall end in ice, not fire.

I arrive at the bottom of the shrine, a giant circle of sulfur water with a thousand drops of rain hitting the greenish pool. Scaled columns of stone and sulfur rise from the water, the surface bubbles with boiling heat, and billows of steam rise high.

Do not do this.

I silence her in my mind as I slide my body through the molten mud below, digging deeper into the sulfuric stew, grasping at the molten rock under the boiling liquid, and pulling myself through to a vast underground sea of lava.

All my concerns burn away here.

All the worries of this world turn to cinders and float away like ash.

I pull myself deeper, through magma-filled caves, swimming slowly and pulling myself along as I move deeper into the molten heart of this world.

With the Old Ones awakened, a great welling builds in the world as the elements become death to those who inhabit this place.

And the Frozen Queen thinks her special soul shall reign supreme?

Lord of Fire!

Come to me! I offer my soul for you, my body, my existence.

I am the Lord of Fire.

And I hear you, dragon.

Take me.

And let the world burn.

Thank You!

This book laid dormant for a while, too long. Like a hibernating elemental goddess, it slept for the longest time. It waited until I was ready, patient, but in its nascent form. Life came along and got in the way, the only way life knows how.

And someone awakened the goddess by asking me, “What are you writing?”

Beyond my normal writers’ workshops and reviews, I needed an answer. I was writing
something
, wasn’t I?

I was writing
this.

So in a week it was done, and I write this as I move the book into final edits. I expect the book to get longer before I am done, as I always find little things to say, little pieces of history to add, and always more emotion and feeling.

I feel the story has improved dramatically since the series began. The first book introduced characters and set the scene, and here in the second, all hell begins to break loose. Characters meet, people begin to part ways, and they also fight. Some even make love, but is it love, or just sex? And in the end, the eruption builds and primes to explode.

After this, nothing shall be the same.

We lose two characters, and the world changes. We also meet new ones, and new ones are born. One we did not expect takes on an interesting role. Loyalties are also questioned on both sides, along with love. The next book will take place in a very different world from what we are accustomed to.

I could write this without the sex, couldn’t I? I could, but this is what my fans love, and why they follow along. There is also a clear contrast here between these characters as fully-developed fantasy heroes and their sexual sides. I love this contrast, what heroes do in the bedrooms and dark of night, and this brings a new dimension to who they are. You see them in a different light afterward, they aren’t genital-less plastic action figures anymore, but humanized and real-feeling people.

Yes, for most writers, you don’t need to go
there.

But what if you did?

What if the fate of the world depended on the difference between love and sex?

In this act, we transform them. Our heroes step off the golden pedestal we put them on, become dirty, and they walk among us. They aren’t perfect. They have flaws and desires, and some of them are downright angelic or abhorrent - and it never is who we expect. They fall victim to the same feelings we feel, and the same desires we succumb to. And then, the magic happens. Through their actions and sacrifices they show us that we too, the damaged and flawed creations we are, can soar and do great things.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 1

This is where it all begins, a darkly-sex futanari Noir story in a retro-future past where cities float in the sky, giant robots fight the world’s wars, and down-and-out people walk the streets below. This is my story, Paris Diamond private eye, how I met Amanda, and how I got involved in this sordid affair. Join me for a dark and rainy night as this classy dame walks into my life and turns it upside down. If you want to know more about a hard-on-her luck futanari PI and the strange world I live in, this is a great place to start. Just be careful who you trust.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 2

The plot thickens, and so do my feelings for this dame. I don’t think we get out of the office all that much in this book, and for good reason. She’s a looker and I can’t keep my hands off of her. We manage to pry our lips apart and head to the Upper City of Chicago, where a nasty surprise awaits.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 3

We arrive at the scene of the crime, and I get to meet some of the others involved. Detective Harding walks me through the crime scene, and I come up with a motive and method that turns a suicide into a murder investigation. Unfortunately, this rubs someone the wrong way, and they try to rub me out. I’m fighting for my life here, and I got nowhere to go but down.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 4

If they try and rub me out, they learn I rub back harder. Harding saves my bacon after I take control of a walking tank and push back, and I owe him one. He’s also a bit more interested in me than he lets on. I continue to press the case, and I end up at the yacht club in Amanda’s arms again. We share a too-brief moment of peace together before things heat up again, and sinister forces show up at our doorstep to say hello.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 5

I make a deal with the Devil in this one, well, the Upper City mob makes itself known, and they have demands. It’s all a bunch of static I need to cut through, and I finally get a lead on Donald’s secretary, Becky Wallace. I track her down to the notorious mob-run Blue Moon Club, and she pulls me into her sticky webs. Actually, I’m a little responsible for that as well, but I just could not resist. By the end, both mobs are involved, and I’m on a collision course with those responsible.

Paris Diamond Futa PI: Jackal Moon, book 6

This is it. I got no where to run, a killer on the prowl, and all hell breaks loose in the Upper City of Chicago. Two mobs are at each other’s throats, and someone rich and powerful is going to get away with murder. Not if I can do anything about it. Before the night is through a lot of people will be dead, I will be fighting an army of walking robots, and the law will be at my heels looking for me. None of that matters though, only the woman I love does. Or is it the women I love? This is it, the curtain call, and none of it may matter when the smoke clears. You only live once.
