Chapter 17

I walked out of the bathroom and ran into Kira who was waiting around the corner.

"What's going on? Are you okay?" She asked, taking in my pale face.

"I might be pregnant," I whispered, brushing past her to get to my phone.

"Wait, what? You're pregnant?"

I turned towards her and shrugged. I felt so terrified. At nineteen, what was I supposed to do with a baby? I wasn't married, I didn't have my own house, my parents still paid my rent on the house I shared with the others, I was in college, the most parenting experience I had was babysitting a couple of times when I was in high school. What the hell was I going to do?

Kira pulled me into her arms and guided me to the couch.

"Look at me Emily," she said, cupping my face. "I know this is scary, believe me, I know. But you need to stay calm; you have an amazing boyfriend, a family that will support you no matter what, and our babies would grow up together which is something we've always wanted. The timing is crap, but you're one of the strongest people I know and you CAN handle this." She paused for a moment before saying, "Okay?"

"Yeah." I whispered. I would handle this because I had to. Also, her speech left me with a moment of clarity and I realized that if I really was pregnant, I needed to be calm for the baby. "Okay, okay." I said slowly, finally calming down slightly. "I need to call the doctor."

Kira smiled softly and handed me the phone. I quickly dialed the phone number of my doctor.

"Good afternoon, thank you for calling The Village Medical center, how may I help you?" A woman asked.

"Hi, I need an appointment with Dr. George."

"Alright." I heard typing. "Can I get your name please and the reason for the appointment?"

I gulped, "Emily Smith. I think I'm pregnant." I leaned down, putting my head between my knees when I suddenly felt light headed.

"Congratulations." She sounded so happy for me that I nearly puked again, "How does 3:30 on the fourth work for you?" She asked, I did the math. That would be about three days from now. Wow was it already November?

"Sounds great, thank you."

We hung up and I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. I really had no idea what the conversation going on around me was about. "Emily?" I heard a voice beside me, snapping me out of my haze.

I glanced over and saw Ethan looking at me worriedly. "You okay?"

I tried to give him a supportive smile, "I don't know," I said honestly.

"What's wrong? Kira won't tell me anything."

I spent a minute trying to get the words out of my mouth, "I might be pregnant." His shocked expression sent tears to my eyes. "I'm sorry." I whispered, feeling ashamed.

"Why are you sorry?" He asked, hugging me.

"I got knocked up!" I exclaimed as though it should be obvious. His laughter made me realize how dramatic I was being.

"Knocked up, Emily? Really? You only get knocked up if it's a one night stand," He teased.

I slapped his shoulder, then pulled back to wipe my tears. "Only you could turn this into a joke, Ethan."

"That's what I'm good for."

I hugged him again and whispered, "You're good for so much more." His arms tightened slightly.

I felt really silly for the way I acted when I found out. Why did I feel like I was alone? I have so many beautiful people around me that I could never be alone in this.

Now then, I just had to find Aiden. "Do you know where Aiden went?"

"I think I heard his hooves clapping up the steps."

I shook my head, Aiden's heavier weight on the stairs made a louder sound than the rest of ours.

I went upstairs, feeling oddly happy. Maybe, if I was pregnant, my change of emotion could be blamed on the hormones… either that or I was crazy. Either one was kind of likely. I found him leaning against the headboard of my bed, his head resting on the wall and his legs straight out in front of him, crossed at the ankles. I knocked slightly so I wouldn't surprise him. He turned and when he saw me, a soft smile crossed his lips.

"Hey," I said, smiling lightly.

"Hey."

He held his arm out to me, indicating that I should join him. I didn't waste any time climbing onto the bed with him. I rested my head against his shoulder, his arms went around me and mine went around him.

"I love you, Aiden. I'm ready for whatever happens."

"Do you really mean that? Or are you just saying what you think I want to hear?"

"I mean it. Obviously this wasn't planned, but I feel like you and I are meant to be. Maybe this is meant to be too."

He used his fingertips to turn my chin up, and he met my lips with his, sending a shiver through me. His large hands were pulling me closer, molding his body to mine, sending heat rippling through my enter body.

He pulled me onto my back, breaking our kiss as he pulled my shirt up and over my head.

His eyes met mine for a brief moment before his head dipped down and he began sucking on my nipples.

I helped him remove his shirt. I not only needed to see his amazing body but I wanted to put my hands all over his chest.

When his mouth met mine again, I pulled him down on top of me. I loved the feel of his skin sliding over mine and I loved even more the way it felt when I ran my hand over his muscles.

I spread my legs and wrapped them around him, anxious to feel all of him on me. When he ground himself against me, I couldn’t hold back my moan of pleasure.

He broke out in kissing me once more, only to pull my pants off and then his own. His hands caressed my thighs, before he positioned each leg on his shoulders.

I could feel the warmth of his breath on me and it drove me wild. I wanted to feel him inside of me but he was going so excruciatingly slow.

“You feel so damn good,” he said as he slid a finger inside of me.

I sucked in a sharp breath. The intrusion shocking, yet still welcome.

My body thrummed around him, with a need so strong it was impossible to lay still.

“I need you inside of me baby,” I gasped. “Please Aiden,” I begged as I shifted restlessly. The way he moved his finger in and out of me was driving me insane.

For a moment, we just stared into each other’s eyes. I’d never felt more vulnerable in my entire life. It was as if he knew my every secret and weakness.

Aiden crawled up my body, laying on top of me, all muscled, and gorgeous.

I reached up, unable to stop myself from touching him, before eventually wrapping my arms around his shoulders. I craved the feel of his warmth.

His mouth found mine as the throbbing head of his erection pressed into me. I shifted, lifting my hips toward him, urging him in deeper. But Aiden wouldn’t be rushed. Today he was going slow, too slow.

“I need you baby,” I purred.

With those words he surged into me. He didn’t hesitate, but slid into me fully, filling me completely.

“Christ you feel good,” he growled.

I gripped his shoulders, biting into his skin. He felt so incredible inside of me. I never wanted this moment to end.

We rocked together, creating a rhythm that was all our own. In that moment nothing mattered. The world disappeared around us.

It was just me and Aiden and the friction of our bodies rubbing against each other, his erection sliding in and out of me. It was heaven. It was perfection.

When he slid his large hand between our bodies and pressed his thumb against my throbbing clit, I was done for. It was exactly what I needed to go over the edge. The pressure intensified and I cried out in ecstasy.

Pleasure exploded through me, sending wave after wave rippling over my body.

He put his hands under me and they gripped my ass as he surged into me over and over again. His thrusts were short and out of control. Finally, he thrust one last time, harder than before and with a groan that made me shiver all over again, he released inside of me.

I felt like I was one with the universe at that moment. Like everything in the world was exactly as it should be.

The next three days passed so slowly I could barely breathe. Aiden and I found ourselves sitting in the middle of a crowded waiting room filled with huge, pregnant women and screaming children. We gripped each other's hands tightly. When my name was called, we both flinched and stood up. I led the way over to the nurse.

She brought us back to a small room and had us sit down while she sat in a swirly chair.

“You’re here for a pregnancy test?” She asked for clarification.

I could hardly nod, but I did. It seemed strange, but as the days wore on, I became excited and the thought that I might not actually be pregnant scared me more than the other.

She asked me a series of questions then said, “Alright, I’m going to have you urinate in this cup and then leave it in the window in the bathroom.”

She dug around in a drawer and pulled out a small paper.

“The doctor will be with you as soon as the tests come back.”

Before she left, she directed me to the bathroom. I always hated peeing in cups, I’m awful at it.

When I was done, I went back into the room and found Aiden snoring lightly. I smiled and sat beside him again and took his hand, making him jerk awake.

“Sorry about that,” he sighed, running a hand over his face.

“Its okay,” I said, looking at the boring painting on the wall.

“So, what happens now?” He asked.

“We wait for the doctor to give us the results.”

“No, I mean, what do we do if you’re pregnant, or if you’re not pregnant for that matter.”

“I’m not trying to avoid the conversation, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. I want to know if I’m pregnant at all before I decide what to do about a baby that may or may not even exist.”

“I’m nervous,” he whispered.

I smiled a little, relieved that I wasn’t the only one going through these emotions right now. At home for the past couple days, we’d been excited about the possibility of our future, but now it all seemed so real and I was questioning our past sanity.

Not long after there was a knock at the door, then the door opened and my doctor entered.

“Good afternoon Miss Emily. I see you brought your boy… Aiden Swift?” He paused for a moment, surprised.

“Hello sir, I’m Aiden, as you apparently already know.” At least he was calm enough to joke around.

“Yes, I know very well who you are. Congrats on the win last weekend. I’m Dr. George.” They shook hands.

I took a shaky breath when he sat down, knowing this was the moment I got my answer.

“So, you think you may be pregnant?” He asked, looking in his charts.

I hated when doctors did that. Yes, I’m freaking here for a pregnancy test, I can see it clear as day on that chart and I’m reading upside down.

“Yes sir.” I answered politely, instead of my clever remark.

“Well, I suppose congratulations are in order, Miss Smith, your test came back positive.” He announced, probably expecting a different reaction than he got because both Aiden and I froze, the reality of it crashing down on us.

I was the first to speak, “What do we do now?

“Well, based on your last period, you’re somewhere around five to six weeks along, correct?” He asked, looking up from his stack of papers.

I nodded, “Yes, nearly six weeks exactly if it happened when I think it did.” I answered, blushing softly.

“Alright then, you should speak with Kathleen on your way out and schedule an ultrasound for about six to eight weeks from now.”

I nodded and turned to Aiden, who had a blank look on his face. Dr. George seemed to sense that we needed some time so he stood up. “I’ll let you two have a moment to discuss this. It was nice meeting you Aiden and Miss Emily, it was good seeing you again.”

I rested my elbows on my knees and put my head in my hands. “I have a baby inside of me.”

Aiden’s hand began rubbing my back as I took deep breaths to calm my racing heart.

“Baby, we’re having a baby.” He sounded amazed, like he couldn’t quite believe it until now.

I turned to him, expecting to see a shocked face, instead I was met with a smile.

“You’re happy?” I asked, sounding surprised.

He nodded and kissed me, “Yeah, I am. Not only am I going to be a daddy, but I got my girlfriend pregnant on the first try… well, first ‘not on purpose, forgot a condom’ situation.” He said thoughtfully. I had to laugh, if not to release the tension in my body, then because he was just too adorable.

“So, we’re keeping Sobri?” I asked, caressing my stomach through my shirt.

Aiden gave me a weird look, “Sobri?”

I nodded, “Yeah, at the mall the other day, the day I realized I was late, I made little bean a ducky at build-a-bear, and wrote a note on the heart using the name. Kira decided to make one for my first born and wrote ‘Sobri’ on it. Sobrino or Sobrina is niece and nephew in Spanish, so she shortened it to be a unisex nickname. It’s funny now because it turns out that Sobri is getting it much sooner than expected.”
