Chapter Eighteen
“I knew it! It didn't make sense to me and for the life of me I could never quite put my finger on it, but I knew it!” screamed Sacha after Taz told her and the crew about all of the money Won had left him. “That sixty million dollars he left you and Neema just didn't add up. I mean Won loved you too much. Those numbers never sat right with me. You were already worth two hundred million dollars. How could it be possible that he left you less than what you already had and he was the man who helped you guys get all of that money? He had to have more than that somewhere. It all makes perfect sense to me now.”
“Yeah, you're right, li'l mama. It's more to this shit though.”
“What?”
Taz smiled at everyone sitting in his den and said, “Won is, was, my daddy.”
“What?” everyone inside of the room said in unison.
“Oh, my God! That means that Uncle Won wasn't my uncle. He was my real grandfather. Wow,” said Tazneema.
“Damn, and to think we were almost to the point of taking him out,” said Wild Bill.
“Shit, that means that Junior is your cousin, dog,” said Snuffy.
“Junior? Who the fuck is Junior?” asked Taz.
“Remember the nigga I told you who did that fool Pitt?”
“Yeah, your mans from your way.”
“He's Won's nephew.”
“Is that right? Would you by chance know where his father is?”
“Yeah, Junior's old man is in the feds finishing a monster stretch. If my memory is correct he should be touching down soon.”
“I think Junior and I need to meet. After everything is everything and I got Mama-Mama situated you need to bring him down here so we can chop it up.”
“Done.”
“So, now that you are damn near a billionaire how does that affect our current situation?” asked Bob.
“Yeah, dog, this shit is wild. We have to look at this entire scenario we're now caught up in real close like. Does the moves change or are we still going to be about the business with the arms dealing thing?' asked Wild Bill.
“Nothing has changed. I'm still the head of the Network and we will continue to progress and move forward as planned. We have to make sure that security remains tight for everyone. I mean everyone. That goes for the others on the council who are loyal to me. I don't want anyone slipping and I mean take nothing for granted. I will be informing the other council members of what I expect because I got a feeling in my gut that that sneaky-ass Saint Tramon is going to make a move sooner or later.”
“She is a slick one, but I don't see her trying anything for real. She's more mouth to me than anything else,” said Tari.
Shaking his head no, Taz said, “When it comes to security it's not always about what you see, it's about what you don't see that matters most. It's a must we remain safe at all times. I refuse to lose anyone of you or anyone loyal to me. Never underestimate anyone.”
Tari gave him a nod of understanding.
“If this is how you feel then why not take it to the bitch and get her out of the way, dog? Fuck this defensive shit. Let's play offense and make our move first,” said Red.
“I'm feeling that, but we have a lot to lose if we move on emotion and get too aggressive. Why meet our enemy sword to sword where their strength lies? It will better serve us if we can find a way to force them to show their sides where they are weakest and then strike the hardest and deadliest blow. It's all about the end game, my nigga. And believe me when it ends we will be the last ones standing.”
Wild Bill started laughing and said, “Real fucking spill!”
“Umm, excuse me, Daddy, but I think I've heard way too much. I'm about to go home and get some rest, then I'll see y'all back at the hospital later on,” Tazneema said as she stood and left the room without waiting for a response from anyone inside of the room.
Taz shook his head from side to side as he stepped to the bar and poured himself a glass of Courvoisier XO. After taking a sip of this drink he said, “Oops.”
“Oops is an understatement, Taz, you keep doing that goofy shit,” said Tari.
“Yeah, I know. Still tripping off this news Mama-Mama hit me with about Won being my daddy that I didn't pay attention.”
“What's done is done, baby. Neema understands your life; she just doesn't want to be a part of the gangsta stuff. She'll be fine,” said Sacha.
“Yeah, dog, you already know she's about her business so it's all good,” Red said reminding Taz about his daughter and how she handled that situation with Cliff six years ago.
“Back to the business at hand. Snuffy, I need you and Charlene to get at Jay Bogard, Chinaman, Snack, and G.R. Make sure that they all understand that I want them to remain on high alert and keep shit tight with their security twenty-four/seven.”
“Done.”
“I'm going to get at Akim as well as Mr. Suarez to check and see if there's been anything added to the mix. I really want to hear if that bitch-ass nigga Malcolm Brown has been with any more of that treason shit.”
“I think you should be more concerned about Danny Orumutto. He is the tricky one in this mix, dog,” said Bob.
“You're right, my nigga. I'm all over it. When it's time we will be in the position to handle shit the right way.”
“What if we're wrong and no aggressive moves are made against us?” asked Tari.
Taz shrugged and said, “Then everything will be everything and we all continue to eat and make a whole bunch of money. Everyone will be happy and that will be that. We're staying ready so we won't have to get ready and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.”
“I agree,” said Sacha. “Now, what are we going to do with all of this money!”
Everyone started laughing.
“Since my daddy left me such a large chunk of change it's only right that we splurge on a little something-something. I'm buying a private jet. Using Akim's company jet has spoiled me. No more of that commercial shit for us.”
“Dog, that's, what, every bit of twenty million used and God only knows what brand new,” said Wild Bill.
Taz shrugged and said, “You didn't hear that amount that Won left me? Twenty milly ain't nothing. So get on top of that for me, li'l mama. Find us the best deal you can for a used G5.”
“You do know that the maintenance as well as the pay for the pilots will be added to this right?”
“I'm good with it. I'll have Neema start interviewing for some pilots. I want this taken care of in the next month or so. We won't be doing any traveling too soon anyway while we're here during Mama-Mama's recovery. By the time she's back up and doing her thang full steam we should have everything situated.”
“This splurge move is for the crew correct?” asked Tari with a smile on her face.
“What you got on that mind of yours, Tee?”
Tari looked at Sacha, smiled, and winked. “Since you got a toy for the crew us girls want something to splurge on as well. Why not surprise us?”
“Why not. You, Sacha, Gwen, and Charlene come up with something and we'll get it together. Now let's dead this for now. I need to get at Akim and Mr. Suarez; that is, unless we have anything else to bring to the table at this time?”
Everyone inside of the room agreed that all bases had been touched then one by one they left Taz's home. Sacha went upstairs to check on the twins who were just waking up from their nap. She heard Taz downstairs laughing loud so she went to go see what was so funny followed closely by her sons. When she entered the den she heard Taz talking to someone on the phone while holding his stomach trying to control his laughter.
“Come on, Mack, you got to be kidding me.”
“I'm telling you, Taz, your fucking dogs have gone berserk. They're snapping at everyone who tries to get them inside of their kennels. They're going fucking nuts. We're running late as it is so if we don't get them inside of their kennels we won't make the flight to get you your damn Dobermans,” Mack said clearly frustrated.
Taz calmed himself down and said, “All right go outside where the dogs are and stand right by their kennels.”
“What, you think you can tell them to get inside of their kennels over the damn phone and they will obey? Come on, Taz, this shit is fucking irritating as it is.”
“Do what I told you to do, Mack. Hurry up. You're running late remember.”
Taz was smiling at Li'l Keno, Li'l Bo-Pete, and Sacha as they stood and watched him. When Mack came back on the line he said, “All right we're all outside in front of the truck and I'm telling you, Taz, both Precious and Heaven are growling looking like they want to attack us. I don't want to put your dogs down man so this shit better work.”
“I already told you what would happen if you touched my dogs, Mack. Now put me on your speaker on your phone and open their kennels.”
Mack pressed the intercom button on his cell phone and said, “All right, Taz, you're on speaker and it's turned all the way up.”
“Hold it out toward the dogs so they can hear my voice.”
Mack did as he was told and said, “Okay, ready.”
“Precious, Heaven, get into your kennels now! Come and protect me!”
There was a brief pause and then Mack said, “I'll be a muthafucka! They went straight to their kennels and sat down. This shit is too fucking weird for real!” Mack said totally astonished by what he witnessed.
“Whatever, fool. I paid plenty of money to get my babies trained like that. Now hurry your ass up and get them on that flight. What time does their flight arrive out here anyway?”
“Midnight your time.”
“Make sure you put something for them to eat inside of their kennels so they will be calm during the flight.”
“I got you. We're on our way now. I'll shoot you a text once they are on the plane.”
“Right,” Taz said as he ended the call.
“You and your babies, all of y'all are just too dang spoiled. Really, Taz, a G5?” asked Sacha as she sat down next to her husband.
The twins sat on the other side of their father and started fighting for position on Taz's lap. After securing each one on each of his knees Taz told his wife, “It's not all about being spoiled, li'l mama, the company needs this. It makes things more convenient for us all for real. Now I know it's a little extreme, but for real it's more business than pleasure with this move.”
She smiled and said, “But there will be some pleasurable times as well.”
“You damn skippy. Gots to put you in the mile high club, li'l mama.”
She smacked him on his arm and said, “Since when did you become a member of the mile high club, Mr. Taz?”
“Yeah, Daddy, when did you be in the mile club?” asked Li'l Keno.
Laughing, Taz said, “All y'all crazy! Let's get something to eat before we go see your g-mama. I'm hungry.”
“Me too!” the twins said in unison.
“What about the calls you need to make?”
“I got a text from Akim and Mr. Suarez and they're both busy and will be getting at me later. So we might as well get something to eat and then chill until it's time for us to go check on Mama-Mama.”
“What have you decided on dealing with her once she is released from the hospital?”
As they went into the kitchen Taz said, “She will have two choices and that will be to come and stay here, which I think she will go for, because the second option is staying with Neema and Lyla at Keno's place.”
“You know Neema isn't going to want that. What if Mama-Mama chooses her house?”
“I doubt it. She would rather be here with her g-babies instead of fussing at Neema and Lyla all day. Her staying here will make things easier all the way around. When she is back on her feet in say a month or two then we'll let her go back to her house, but there will be round-the-clock help there. I've decided to hire a nurse or maid/ nurse to move in with Mama-Mama.”
“Of your choosing of course.”
He smiled. “Of course.”
“I hope this goes well with Mama-Mama,” Sacha said as she opened the refrigerator and began to look for something to make her family for dinner.
Taz sat at the island with the boys next to him and said, “Me too, li'l mama, me too.”
