“And she didn’t? Was
that why you never tried again?” He slowly put his hands on Dom’s chest.

Domenico leaned into the
touch, massaging Seth’s throat. He enjoyed how thick and masculine it was, but
it would be easy to choke him nevertheless. “Your father would kill me if I
did. Those lonely weeks in captivity were the most grueling period of my life,”
he whispered, already feeling a chill run down his spine.

Cold floor with nothing
but a meager blanket to sleep on, food rations that left him thin and bony, the
pain of repeated beatings and a bullet wound that wasn’t healing well. He
wouldn’t dare to try. Luigi was his only salvation back then, he was the one to
suggest he could train Dom from a young age. That Dom showed promise. He took
him to the vineyard and gave him a Snickers bar. It was the most delicious
thing Domenico had ever eaten, and he would never forget the sweetness that
could melt your teeth, and how good it felt in his mouth.

But instead of fleeing
like before, Seth slowly wrapped his arms around Dom’s neck, pulling him into
an embrace instead of pushing Dom away as he expected. “I’m sorry.”

Domenico closed his
eyes, his body going slack against Seth’s. “It doesn’t matter anymore. I’m glad
I didn’t succeed actually. You are a great fuck.”

Seth snorted and gently
headbutted him from the side. “Asshole. Is that my only reason to live? I
better make sure I please you then.” The worst storm had to be over, because
Dom could feel Seth’s muscles relax as well.

“You can start by making
something great for lunch.” Domenico got to his toes and gave Seth a light
smooch.

“Only if you promise me
something.” Seth hugged him tighter and sighed.

“Yeah?” Domenico leaned
back and pulled him toward the living room.

Seth followed, looking
at his feet. He slowed down, anchoring Dom in the darkest spot. “If you ever
have to kill me, please do it quick.”

Domenico stopped
mid-stride and looked back, all thoughts leaving his head. “Where did that come
from?”

“I just—” Seth scratched
the back of his head. “I don’t want pain…”

“I won’t kill you. Your
father asked me to take care of you.”

“This is just… you know,
if something changes,” Seth whispered, keeping his gaze somewhere on the wall,
his body trembling slightly

Domenico sighed, facing
him again. He understood where Seth’s fears were coming from, and with the
Don’s latest decisions being so unexplainable, anything could happen. As
always, he would follow the order, but he would do so without any satisfaction.
“I promise.”

Seth didn’t smile, but
he did lean in for a kiss that soon turned into many more. That was the way to
comfort the doomed future Don.

Chapter 15

Domenico left the cell,
disappointed with the constant wailing. He could only work properly without
Seth around so the training hadn’t been progressing at all for the last two
days. Sure, they did some wrestling, but then just watched TV as if they didn’t
have a captive next door. Slowly, he walked back to the kitchen, following the
creamy smell of a sauce Seth was putting together for dinner.

“Still nothing.”

“Give it time,” Seth
said as if he were talking about slow roasted pork.

“I’m fucking losing my
patience here.” Domenico pulled out one of the cell phones he used to contact
the Villani headquarters. He’d tried a lot of things but not being allowed to
leave any permanent damage made it all incredibly difficult. He’d tried pushing
pins into her, he’d put chopped chili peppers into her underwear, choked her,
but there were limits imposed on him, and it frustrated him to no end when
results were still demanded. “And I couldn’t pick up a call.”

“Mm, are you gonna call
them back?” Seth smiled at him and dipped a finger in the deliciously smelling
sauce. It was so fragrant and fresh, Domenico’s stomach melted. He slid his
arms around Seth’s waist, taking in the natural smell of hot skin.

“First things first.”

Seth turned around in
the embrace and kissed him. Their… whatever it was that they shared, had been
going for over three weeks now, and Dom was still as hungry for Seth as in the
beginning. It wasn’t even an uphill struggle anymore, with Seth willingly
giving in to Dom’s lust. In a way, it was good that Salieri was so stubborn,
since it meant more time with Seth.

“Sure, let’s eat before
the food gets cold.”

Domenico looked into his
shiny, brown eyes and let his fingers push up, under Seth’s ridiculously tight
T-shirt. It seemed he bought them a size too small, and they kept revealing
naked flesh, like a carrot to pull Dom closer. “You’re the best male cook I
know.”

Seth turned around and
filled their plates with pasta and pan-fried anchovies. “I only began learning
in the States. My… my mom sent me recipes. I never thought I’d enjoy it so
much.”

Domenico snuggled his
face into Seth’s arm and closed his eyes. He missed his mother. Last time he
was in Sicily, he didn’t have enough time to visit their home. They spent time
time together at the wake before the funeral, but that was that. “I haven’t
seen mine for a very long time.”

Seth kept quiet for a
moment, expertly preparing the sauce before pouring it over the spaghetti.
“You’ll see her soon.”

Domenico pulled away
from him and sat by the wooden table. He couldn’t wait to put that delicious
sauce in his mouth. Everything Seth created in the kitchen was seconds
material. “You should visit us. My mother has some great recipes she could
share with you.”

Seth put a steaming
plate in front of Dom and sat by his side with his own food. “Does she know
you’re gay?”

Domenico blinked at him,
shocked by the suggestion. “Of course not.” Slowly, he looked up at Seth, who
was sitting close enough for them to rub knees. The food seemed even more
tempting than before. Seth put pieces of fresh cut lemon on the side of Dom’s
plate, so he could squeeze them over the pasta himself.

“How would you explain
my visit then?” Seth raised his eyebrows and rolled some pasta onto his fork.

Domenico chuckled,
smelling the lovely sauce. “Oh, making arrangements for the future.”

“As in, making friends
with your future Don?” Seth wiggled his eyebrows.

Domenico leaned back,
packing his mouth full of pasta and fish with a low groan. He slipped his naked
foot out of his slipper and stroked Seth’s calf with it. If Seth was the Don of
anything, he was the Don of the kitchen. “Precisely. If you pretend not to know
how to cook, she’ll give you a crash course in Italian seduction techniques.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”
Seth leaned closer and reciprocated the touch under the table. They spent most
of their time in Berlin together, living in the same room, sleeping in the same
bed, eating together, doing the training exercises, yet Dom didn’t find himself
in need of solitude. It was nice to be around someone as pliant and carefree as
Seth. Someone with whom he didn’t have to watch his back.

“‘Darling, your food
will get cold’?” spoke Domenico in a high-pitched voice and grinned at him.

Seth gave him a confused
look and stuffed his mouth full of pasta. “I don’t do that,” he muttered.

Domenico smiled,
reveling in the thick structure of the homemade pasta, the smooth tomato sauce,
with a hint of a chili and olive oil. “I’m just making fun of you.” He slipped
his hand under the table and squeezed Seth’s knee.

“Well, it’s not funny,
I’m not some matron.” Seth gave him a glare that was probably supposed to be
threatening but looked merely annoyed. Seth was more of a threat to himself
than he could ever be to Dom.

“You look quite
compelling with that frown.” Domenico swallowed, only to fill his mouth again.

“Stop it, or I’ll stop
cooking.” Now
that
was a proper threat.

“You’re giving me the
chills.” Domenico didn’t grin only because his mouth was too busy chewing. It
felt so peaceful to eat homemade food with a gorgeous guy. Something he rarely
had the opportunity to do. He slowly looked up.

Seth smiled at him and
there was no fakery in the way the sides of his eyes wrinkled. Seth was crap at
lying properly. “Good, be afraid.” He poured them both wine, even though he
knew Dom didn’t drink as a rule most of the time. Seth would probably drink out
of Dom’s glass once he was done with his own.

Domenico frowned at the
sauce. It didn’t taste like anything he had tasted so far and the spice was
making him pleasantly warm inside, just right for an October afternoon. “What
did you add? It made me all hot.”

Seth smirked and nudged
Dom with his foot. “A secret ingredient. I like to experiment.”

Domenico shoveled down
the rest of the food and took his time to chew it all before answering. Seth
looked so young and vital. “Admit it, you want to seduce me. That’s what it
is.” Slowly, he moved his hand over the tabletop toward Seth.

“Me? Is it not me being
corrupted here? Led down the path to sin?”

Domenico brushed his
fingertips over the back of Seth’s hand, so warm, big, and veiny. He could play
with the hair on Seth’s forearms for hours. “Don’t pretend to be an innocent.”

“I’m trying. So I can
surprise you at the right moment.” Seth hooked his ring finger on Dom’s little
finger.

Domenico pushed away the
plate, already considering seconds. “You could seduce me somewhere else
tonight. How about a walk?”

Seth’s smile widened.
“I’m up for that. You won’t see it coming. I’ll let you suck me off under a
bridge.” He stuck out his tongue, but it was enough to set Domenico’s
imagination in motion. Just the two of them in the darkness, Seth’s powerful
hands in his hair, that beautiful cock in his mouth...

“Sure.”

Seth leaned back in the
chair with his glass of wine, a triumphant expression on his face. “I’ll be
waiting for that walk then.”

Domenico laughed. “Just
let me make that call, and we’re off.” He got up and circled the table, pulling
Seth along.

They got to the comfy
armchair and Seth sat in his lap, wrapping his arms around his neck. He was
quite heavy, but Domenico accepted the burden with a smile, leaning his head
back for Seth to ravish it with his mouth, tease it with that ever-present
stubble. The sweet kisses to his cheek made Dom wait with the call, but he
finally dialed the number, exposing his throat even further. Domenico enjoyed
how affectionate Seth was, and the constant adoration was making him feel at
ease. It was a shame this state of affairs could never last.

“This is Domenico,” he
said as soon as he heard someone pick up the call. He gave a brief report on
how things were going in Berlin, and all the while Seth never stopped his
silent kisses under Dom’s jaw. In the end, Dom just put the call on
speakerphone, so he could give Seth some attention as well. He could easily
listen to the report on operations in the US and stroke Seth’s hip at the same
time. If he could, he would never move from between Seth’s thighs. Seth petted
his nape and looked into his eyes with a smile, but Dom got pulled back into
reality in a split second later when he heard Dino Villani’s voice.

“Boss... Good evening,”
he said in accordance with the local time in Sicily.

Seth’s eyes went wide, and
he pulled away his hand as if his father could see them. Domenico raised his
eyes at him and swallowed. It did feel strange to talk to the Don with his son
in his lap.

“I need to speak to my
son. Is he around?” Dino sounded as cheerful as ever. Domenico didn’t like it
one bit.

“Of course.” Slowly, he
looked into Seth’s eyes and nodded at the phone, while brushing his fingers
over the table close to the mic, to imitate the sound of it being passed from
hand to hand. He wanted to hear Seth’s instructions himself.

Seth swallowed and
leaned closer to the phone. “Hi, Father.”

“How are you doing,
Seth? Is Domenico respectful? Is he teaching you a lot?”

The fact that the Don
started the conversation with questions about him had Domenico biting his lip,
with tension building all over his body. He gazed into Seth’s eyes, remaining
calm on the outside, while on the inside, he was like a mass of strings
stretched over capacity.

A flush crawled up
Seth’s neck. “Yes, absolutely. He’s… wow, he’s very professional,” he uttered
in the end.

“Just remember, don’t
fraternize with him too much. He’s beneath you so don’t give him any wrong
ideas. You remember what happened when you were both young? Men are only
trustworthy when they know their place,” said Dino and Domenico gritted his
teeth, faking a smile. It seemed that he had been wrong in assuming that he had
proven his loyalty with so many years of complete obedience, sacrifices, and
bowing his head to lick the Don’s shoes.

Seth rubbed his
forehead, wrapping an arm around Dom’s neck, which relieved
at least some of the cramps in Domenico’s body. “I won’t. I
have everything under control.”

“I have some good news
for you, son.”

“Oh, yes? What is it?”
Seth smiled at Dom and played with a strand of his hair. He seemed so careless
it was bordering on a death wish. One day, he might win the Darwin Award.

“I have a bride for
you,” said the Don with enthusiasm, but the last word got muted by the frantic
pulsing in Domenico’s ears. His cheeks tingled, and his head felt strangely light
as he looked at Seth.

Seth’s grip tightened in
Dom’s hair, and the smile slid off his face like a broken mask. “Huh?”

“Bruni’s daughter,
Lucrezia. She is a match made in heaven for you.” The enthusiasm was directly
in proportion to Seth’s lack thereof.

“I mean… what? I’m happy
to hear this, but I don’t even know her…” He gave Dom a quick glance.

“That’s no problem. I
want Domenico to buy you both tickets, and in two weeks’ time, you’ll meet her
at my birthday party. I’m already organizing the ceremony for the both of you.”

“But… what if I don’t
like her?” Seth looked down to Dom, all blood drained from his face. It was
painful to watch, so Dom started gently stroking Seth’s thigh. At this moment,
Domenico was happy not to be the Don’s son.

“Oh, I’m sure you’ll get
along. And if it doesn’t work out, I’m sure you can arrange something so that
both of you are happy.” The Don laughed knowingly.

Seth swallowed and
leaned into Dom. “Okay, I’ll think about it…” He had no spine and was looking
for one in someone he met just a few weeks ago.

“I already asked her in
your name. It’s not negotiable. She’s a good choice.”

“What did she say? She’s
never seen me.” Seth’s voice trembled.

“You can ask her when
you see her. In two weeks,” the Don repeated sternly.

Domenico fell back in
the chair, gloom gathering in his stomach. What the fuck was happening? This
couldn’t be normal.

Seth bit down on his
lips and focused on the phone.

“Look good, son, so she
likes you. Stay healthy.”

“See you soon then,”
Seth said without much energy, and his father turned off his phone.

Seth shot Dom a
wide-eyed look and got off his lap as if it burned him.

The silence was
stretching into much more than a moment and was increasingly hard to break.
Domenico swallowed, cracking his knuckles. “I’m sorry,” was all he could come
up with.

Seth started walking in
circles, his breathing erratic. “Dom! This isn’t right. I have to undo this
somehow!”

Domenico bit his lip,
leaning forward to support his elbows on his thighs. He was watching Seth’s bare
feet on the wooden floor. Wasn’t he cold? “If he already asked her, I don’t see
how you could convince him.”
