“It’s a small herd. Just one other
animal.”

“Seems like enough, right?” Seth said as the
weeds rustled underneath him. The large, warm hand ran over Dom’s
chest. It was so much nicer to have Seth like this than watching
the pouty-mouthed Don-to-be try to shoot a rabbit and fail
miserably only to sulk on a rock nearby.

“How could an ass like that not be enough?”
Domenico bit into Seth’s shoulder and slid his hand to the round
buttocks. They were so perfectly shaped he wanted to cry that he
couldn’t bite into them now.

“Hey!” Seth punched Dom’s arm without much
force. “Don’t say that.”

“Why? It’s a compliment.” He leaned closer
and kissed the tip of Seth’s nose. “You’re so different, with your
flushing cheeks and lack of experience...”

Blood ran up to Seth’s face as if Dom had
pushed a button. “I’m all kinds of experienced,” he muttered,
avoiding Dom’s eyes. Not like the hundreds of sluts Dom left
behind. No, Seth wasn’t like that, he wouldn’t just give it to him
in a back alley on the night of their first meeting, and Dom
appreciated that.

“Oh, come on. My mother would be happy if she
knew I’m dating a virgin. She doesn’t have to know that the
relationship has already been consummated.”

Seth’s eyes opened wider. “Pig! I’m not a
virgin, and you damn well know that.”

Domenico sighed, looking at him not without
pride. “Of course, thanks to me.”

Because
of you. Anyway, I had lots
of sex before. You know that since you spied on me,” growled Seth,
rising on one elbow

“Oh, did you now?” Domenico beamed at him and
nestled his head on Seth’s bicep, the sweetest of pillows. “I want
to know their names and addresses.”

Seth opened his lips like a fish and spoke
only after a few seconds. “Peter Merridew, Brooklyn.”

“So, what should I do about him?” asked
Domenico, slowly moving his hand lower, between Seth’s legs. He
liked how the scent of dust mixed with Seth’s.

“Why would you do anything about him?” Seth
stirred his hips, watching Dom with a frown.

Domenico slipped his hand beneath Seth’s
T-shirt, smiling when he felt the already-familiar body hair.
“Because as long as he’s alive, you will not be completely
mine.”

Seth’s lips parted. “Wow.”

Dom nodded, amused by Seth’s reactions. “I
know.” But jokes aside, he had to think of a way to get the lamb
out of this nest of serpents. His thoughts were interrupted by a
soft, warm whisper against his lips.

“I really like you,” Seth confessed as if it
weren’t obvious. He had that shy smile on his face and didn’t chase
Dom’s hands away this time. It made Dom yearn to get on top of him
and fuck him in the secluded darkness of the barn. He should always
carry lube around. From now on, he would.

“Prove it,” he teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
He reached down to his own fly and unzipped it with a loud zapping
noise.

Seth snorted and slid his hand down the front
of Dom’s pants. “You’re such a prick! I can’t tell you anything.
You always use it against me.”

“Yet you still want me.” Domenico leaned
back, ignoring the stems of hard hay digging into his flesh through
the sacks. They could return here one night and go all the way
without anyone ever noticing their absence.

Seth started slowly massaging Dom’s cock
through the fabric, but his gaze was intense, not going anywhere.
“I have horrible taste in men.”

“You do, that girlfriend of yours was a
horrible choice,” muttered Domenico, pulling Seth’s hand deeper
into his fly. He loved how the dark hair on the back of Seth’s
forearm felt on his skin.

“Stop fucking offending him all the time.”
The aggression made Seth squeeze on Dom’s cock all the sweeter.

Domenico groaned, hugging Seth’s body
tighter. “Can’t help it.”

Seth pulled his hand away and raised his
eyebrows. “Oh look, my hand made its way back on its own, I can’t
help it.”

“Don’t be a dick and suck my cock,” moaned
Domenico, pushing at that stubborn head. With his body already
tingling with readiness, he wanted more of that hunky body. He
wanted Seth serving him.

But when his fucking phone rang, Dom knew
that was it. Seth looked up at him and bent to kiss his cock
through the fabric. Dom wanted to howl at his ringtone as shivers
of pleasure trailed all the way to the tip of his cock, but he
still gently pushed his lover away and picked up the call, already
zipping up his pants.

“Acerbi.”

Seth sat back on the sack, looking as if he
was going to cry if he didn’t get to suck cock, but Luigi Tassa
wasn’t someone who would wait till Dom was done with this romp.

“Where are you, Domenico? We need to
talk.”

Dom sat up and pulled Seth close, patting his
back. “I’m on the Villani grounds, why?”

“What do you mean ‘why?’” This wasn’t good,
Luigi sounded annoyed. “I have new information I need to share with
you. If you’re on the grounds, come over to the terrace.”

Domenico closed his eyes as all hope of white
streaks on Seth’s dusky skin dispersed. “I’m on my way.”

Seth immediately stood up and shook off the
dust without a word. Luigi disconnected.

Domenico followed Seth to his feet and looked
up at him, squeezing his hand. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been summoned.
Will you walk with me?”

Seth shrugged. “No worries, I’ll find another
cock to suck.”

Domenico frowned and grabbed at Seth’s collar
as heat flooded his face and made him see white. “Don’t you
dare.”

Seth didn’t fight it, just gave him a silly
grin that shone in the semi-darkness. “You’re wasting time, Dom.
You’ve been summoned.”

Domenico groaned, briefly brushing off some
stray hay. “We’re going.”

“Okay, okay, Mimmo.” Seth smiled, all
relaxed as if he hadn’t spent the afternoon sulking.

Domenico shook his head and
pulled him in for one last kiss before walking up to the doors.
“I
will
nail you
while we’re here. Just wait.”

Seth followed, just like during the brief
dance. “We’ll see, we’ll see. You can try. Considering you get
those phone calls all the freaking time, it might be hard.”

They walked out into the road covered in
orange light from the setting sun.

“It can’t be helped. I’m not my own man.”
Domenico reached into his pocket to retrieve his ever-present
cigarettes and lit one. He was already plotting how to respond to
Seth’s challenge.

Seth looked like he wanted to say something
but then closed his lips and just held out his hand for a cigarette
in that ever-present needy gesture. Dom didn’t put the cig in his
hand, instead pushing one more between those perfect lips and
reaching up with the lighter.

Seth didn’t seem to mind and bent toward the
flame. “At least I got something in my mouth,” he teased as they
walked.

“Believe me, if you find an excuse to invite
me to your room for twenty minutes, you will get much more.”
Domenico inhaled the smoke, already feeling its calming warmth
spread through his body. It was exactly what he needed.

They could see the villa’s terrace from afar
and Luigi’s lone figure at a table with a parasol. “I have to be
careful then and never invite the big bad wolf.”

“We’ll see how long you’ll last without
feeling my breath on your nape,” Dom said with a grin. As much as
he admired Luigi, loved him like a father, he still couldn’t get
over the fact that it was his fault he couldn’t fuck Seth.

If Seth sucking in so much smoke he started
choking was any indication, Dom had hit the nail on the head. It
took a while for Seth to compose himself and wipe the tears away.
“We’ll see,” he choked out, but it didn’t sound like much of a
threat. Seth’s self-control had a lot to live up to.

“Just remember what I told you. Don’t get
killed while I’m not with you. Can you promise me that?”

Seth took a deep breath of smoke and kicked
some rocks. “I’ll drink only bottled water. You can’t have me dead
before that blow job, right?”

“Good thinking,” said Dom, but he was already
wary of Luigi overhearing them, so he raised his hand in greeting
as he approached his mentor’s stocky figure.

“Good evening, Mr. Tassa,” Seth said as they
got closer, and Luigi scrutinized them both, his squint making his
skin more wrinkly around the eyes.

“Good evening.”

“Mr. Villani.” Domenico nodded at Seth with a
polite smile, already turning his body toward Luigi.

Seth just gave them one more curt nod before
walking off, the back of his bulky body covered in dirt. Domenico
wanted to slap himself for not reminding Seth to clean himself, but
it was already a lost cause.

Luigi sat in a white cast iron chair by the
table and grabbed himself an apple from a bowl of fruit. Domenico
didn’t waste time and joined him.

“You summoned me.”

“Something interesting in the barn?” Luigi
leaned closer and picked a bit of hay off Dom’s shoulder before
returning to peeling his apple.

Domenico cleared his throat and smiled at the
memory of his almost-blow job. “Ah, we were wrestling.”

“Good, he’s big, but lacks the skill. Though
I can imagine he’s learned a lot in Berlin?”

“Yes.” Domenico looked at the door where Seth
entered the house and sighed. “Though he is still rather hopeless.
He keeps forgetting how to properly handle the gun, so he needs
much more training.”

“I suppose that’s only fair.” Luigi shook
his head. “I didn’t think it would be the case with Seth’s wedding
coming up, but you’ll be both shipped off to New York soon. At the
beginning of December most probably.”

Domenico’s head emptied, and there was a
slight tingling in his temples. Might have been because most of the
blood flew south at the mere thought of being alone with Seth
again. “I believe that is a good start. He will have enough time
with his wife later, but it’s crucial that he knows the
business”

“I doubt there will be much to do at first,
but it will be a good time to keep him training for the future.
There might be a hit coming in New York City that you’ll need to
take care of, but generally, I thought you could use the holiday
after Berlin. Even if you’d have to share the time with Seth.”

“With the rat eliminated, that shouldn’t be
a problem,” said Domenico. He’d advised Seth not to mention the
Chinese to anyone, and he didn’t do it himself. Not even Luigi
knew. Something was telling Domenico those matters weren’t yet
resolved.

Luigi looked up at him as the peel slowly
came off the apple. “Oh, he’s not eliminated. We’ve only caught
Angelo yesterday. Guess where we found him?” He raised his
eyebrows, and for some reason, it seemed like a challenge.

Domenico shrugged, leaning back in the chair
and putting out his cigarette. “No idea.”

“In a gay bar in Palermo. Not only a rat, but
a fag as well. Two birds with one stone, eh?”

Domenico froze, forcing his face not to move
as his eyes met Luigi’s over the innocent fruit. But he could still
breathe so he took a slow gulp of air and shook his head. He
couldn’t believe Angelo would be such an idiot. “I didn’t see that
coming.”

“No one did, though
afterward, many claimed they had suspicions. I’ve been in this job
for too long to believe you can spot a homosexual so easily. My
advice, Domenico? You can spot a fag if you find him
in flagranti
with
another man. Then you know.” Luigi bit into one of his neatly cut
up apple pieces.

“That’s very true. Unless one tries to flirt
with you,” said Domenico, willing to unwind the tension.

It worked, because Luigi burst out laughing.
“Are you speaking from experience?”

Domenico grinned back and made an
overinflated gesture against his cheek, imitating a flamboyant man.
“I can’t help having this face, Luigi. Ladies aren’t the only ones
to notice, unfortunately.”

“You should have a nickname. Domenico ‘The
Face’ Acerbi. If you keep letting Seth bruise you like that,”—he
pointed to Dom’s chin where he still had a reminder of the
Chinese—“you’d lose the privilege though.”

“I’m happy he’s picking some things up. My
face doesn’t matter,” Dom lied to complete the bluff.

“I suppose better you than him on his wedding
day. The Don wouldn’t be too happy about that. But you’re
distracting me. I must be getting old.” Luigi shook his head. If
anything, his age was a good disguise for his strength and skill.
“Angelo is talking all about his arrangement with the Triad so he’s
not dead just yet, but he will be. Was there anything else the girl
said that we should know?”

Domenico shook his head and reached for
another cigarette, caressing the familiar shape between two
fingers. “No, she was just a greedy bitch.”

“How did Seth kill her?”

“With a knife through the heart,” said
Domenico without a second’s hesitation. It was the most probable
version.

Luigi nodded. “Good. He needs to toughen up.
I saw he didn’t take part in the shooting. You need to make sure he
knows staying away could be a death sentence.”

“We were having this discussion just now. He
will learn,” said Dom, though he wasn’t so convinced himself.

“Onto more pleasant topics then. Do you have
a girl for Seth’s wedding yet?” Luigi smiled.

Domenico sighed, putting the cigarette into
his mouth. It wouldn’t stop him from talking though. “I can’t make
promises to local girls, but I’m sure mother will suggest someone
suitable.”

“I still remember seeing you lead the waltz
with Miss Avery in Vienna all those years ago. I was proud to see
you grow up so well.”

Domenico couldn’t help but smile at his
mentor. Luigi was like the father he never had. “I’m glad I had you
to teach me all I needed to know. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t
for you.”
