th
FLOOR PENTHOUSE…

The doors opened and Donnella stepped in. The place was
nice
. Although she preferred her own penthouse at the Stone Tower. Not that she stayed there. It held too many memories of her mother, the only reason she avoided it, only occupying it when it was unavoidable, until recently. Putting Matthew in the Tower had her rethinking her choices about the space.

As for this hotel, it had all the furnishings of the typical modern New Yorker apartment. Couches, chairs, tables near nothing useful. The color palette was blacks, whites and greys. Pleasing enough, but she wasn’t there for the décor. She looked in the bedroom first half expecting to find Donavan Kelly waiting with his cock in his hand. She wouldn’t put something so crass past him. Instead she found it clean and empty. She felt a chill, and saw that the doors to the terrace were open, cautiously she made her way over to find to her surprise she was now looking at the unmistakable back of Samuel Sinclair. His long thin limbs, wore a suit like no man she had ever met. His black and red pony tail was also hard to miss.

“What are you doing here?” She demanded moving the curtain from her view.

He turned with a smirk, a drink in his manicured hand... “
I
was like you
invited
.”

“This is
not
happening.” Donnella shook her head, as she turned around to see Donavan enter the room.

“There’s
my
dragon. We were starting to think you weren’t coming.”

“What is
this
? I thought you and I had a meeting.”

“We do, it just isn’t all about McLoughlin.” Donavan sat down in one of the club chairs, swirling a drink in his hand. “Why don’t you have a brandy, my girl?”

“Why is
he
here?”

“That’s the deal. He wants his good-bye. Thinks he deserves it after what you’re latest did to his face. He’s got to wear a partial now you know.”

Samuel came in slowly, running a hand down her back. “I am sorry for how I acted. I just want to part ways in a good way. Donavan here was willing to give me a shot at that.”

She squirmed at his touch. “Don’t. I’m not here to discuss you.” She spat, pulling away.

“Well then we don’t have much more to discuss. Do we?” Donavan stood up. “If you walk out again, there won’t be another chance to get in my good graces.” He sneered.

“I won’t fuck you both.”

“Fine, you fuck Sammy there, I’ll
watch
.”

“If I do this you’ll get me my meeting with Mcloughlin?”

“I’ll walk you in myself.”

She looked at Samuel, her eyes dropping to his hand which sat his pants zipper. He was already hard. She could see the bulge. He never lasted very long. She could do this. “I’m on the rag, just so you know.”

Yeah
? Where have I heard
that
before?”

“Don’t believe me?” She lifted her foot on to the coffee table and sliding her panties aside gave the string between her legs a gentle tug, pulling her bloody tampon free. “Proof enough for you, you sick fucks?” She tossed it in the garbage can.

“Guess you’re getting your red wings tonight, Sinclair.”

“Guess so.” Samuel laughed as he grabbed Donnella by the waist, pushed her over the back of the couch, and spread her legs.

“Are you even watching?” Janet hollered over the bar crowd at
The Hardware club.
“This is ridiculous!” She laughed as the impersonator flew out into the crowd.

“It’s almost ten thirty, where could she be? What meeting takes this long?” Matthew answered.

“Just call her man.”

“She turned off her phone for the meeting. Keeps going to voicemail.”

“What about the assistant? What was his name?”

“Harold? I didn’t think of that.”

Matthew dialed Harold’s cell phone. After several rings Harold answered screaming and laughing.

“Yes!”

“Harold? It’s Matthew, Mayfield.”

“Oh yes, sorry I’ve had a few pints with the girls and boys, Matthew Happy New Year! What’s the matter does Miss Stone need something for the morning again?”

“That’s just it, I haven’t’ heard back from her since she left for that meeting with that Kelly guy.”

Silence.

“Harold? You still there man?”

“Yes, I’m still here. I was just looking for something. I’ll look into it and let you know. Sometimes these negotiations can go long. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about.” The line went dead.

Matthew’s stomach turned, he knew something was wrong. Every fiber of his being said so. “I’ve got to go.”

“Where man? You don’t even know where the meeting was. Sit down, enjoy the fucking show. This is Raj’s debut for fucks sake. Your girlfriend can take care of herself. Besides she’s got that big black guy that follows her around.”

Matthew sat back uneasy. He would do as he was told, but he kept his phone in his hand. As soon as he got word about Donnella he was out of there.

***

Donnella stood in the penthouse bathroom, washing her mouth out, using a rag to clean herself up. There was so much blood.

“Those fucks.” She gritted her teeth. Donavan had said it was just going to be Samuel, but at some point he had come around and the next thing she knew she had his cock in her mouth. She hadn’t protested because she knew it wouldn’t have done her any good, and she had already gone so far as to let one fuck her… But then they were both on her. She had not planned on
that
. Her body ached, as she got dressed. She was exhausted, her legs crumpled underneath her. The room started to spin again. If she could just lie down just for a moment.

***

“Where is she!” Matthew was frantic. He had gotten the call from Harold that Donnella was in the hospital and taken the first cab he could find straight there. It had taken three hours to get through the traffic and his temper was flaring.

“Easy, she’s still in surgery.” Harold tried to calm him down. “I still don’t know much. Just what Cordell told me. Come sit with me.”

“What happened?” Matthew lowered his voice as Janet and Raj came rushing in behind him. Huddled together.

“Apparently her meeting ran late. She ran to the rest room, and when she didn’t come out after a few minutes Cordell went to check on her and found her passed out on the floor. Bleeding from, well you know. Down there.” He pointed to Janet’s crotch.

Janet looked at Matthew wide eyed. “Could she have been, you know.” She made the arm signal for pregnancy, drawing the large belly in front of her own flat tummy.

“No, she’s got that IUD thing.”

“Ooh.” Janet and Raj sucked in their teeth.

“Maybe it was that. I’ve heard not good things about them.”

“I had the same thought, when she started bleeding a few days ago. But told me it was her period.”

“Could be a little of both.” Harold reasoned. “With her stress over this stupid Mcloughlin drama.”

“Mcloughlin?” Janet squeezed Matthew’s forearm tightly. As Matthew picked up his head, then stood up. “If it was that thing… If I… Fuck!” He hissed. Pulling at his hair. His hands fisted. “Mother fucker!” Janet grabbed him by the arm pulling him outside.

“Is he gonna be okay?” Harold asked Raj, looking him up and down in the Liza costume with a large smile.

“Oh, that boy could bounce back from a nuke.” Raj twirled his hair, smiling back at Harold.

Matthew came back inside just as the surgeon came out of the emergency room doors. He looked around seeing Harold he walked over.

“Are you here for Miss Moffett?”

“What-”

“Yes.” Harold cut him off. “I’m Harold Worthington, her brother. How is she, do you know what happened?”

“Apparently her IUD. Was dislodged by some-”

“I need to see her.” Matthew demanded. Trying to get by the doctor. “Please.” He pleaded.

Harold nodded with an eye roll.

The doctor took off his hat. “Okay, but only one at a time are allowed in the ICU recovery.”

“Fuck she’s in ICU?” Matthew was frantic.

“Calm down sir, we are having a rough night tonight and some of our ER patients have spilled over in to ICU, for space. She’s resting comfortably I can assure you.”

Matthew wrung his hands as they approached the room, he saw Cordell was outside standing guard. He went to him, and nodded, as Harold went in to her first. “Thank you for finding her.”

Cordell swallowed hard in his throat. But only nodded back to Matthew who watched as it appeared Harold and Donnella were having an argument. The nurse stood up, looking at the monitors, as Harold stormed out. “You talk some sense in to her, cuz I certainly can’t seem to.”

“What’s the issue?”

“She wants to go back to work! Like now, wants me to bring in her laptop!”

Matthew let out a short laugh. A shot of relief washing over him, if she wanted to work perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad. He walked in to the room and she smiled sheepishly.

“I’m sorry I ruined your night.”

“Are you
kidding
me?” He went to her side, blinking back tears. “I don’t care about that. Are
you
alright? I mean… Stupid question of course you’re not. I’m so- so sorry. I never should have…” He grabbed her hands kissing them. “You gotta forgive me, I didn’t know I could hurt you.”

Hurt me?”
She lifted his chin as he hit his knees.

“You
saved
me.”

“How can you say that? I heard the doctor tell Harold that your IUD got dislodged by something, that it’s what got you sick. Obviously I was that
something
. Or at least part of me. I mean you were fine, then all of a sudden...”

“Matthew listen to me. You only heard
pieces
.
I
talked to the doctors before and after the surgery. According to my symptoms migraines, back pain and the damage they found, the IUD extricated months ago. Established and began to perforate my uterus, then
something
, that’d be
you
dislodged it, keeping it from doing further damage. When my period came and I started using my tampons I aggravated the condition accelerating the problem and it got infected. That’s why I was in so much pain. They say if it hadn’t been knocked loose from where it was cutting into me, I might have completely lost the ability to have children. As it stands they just don’t know. Only time will tell. For now they gave me the shot. But that’s pretty much moot as I can’t have intercourse for at least four to six weeks.”

He stood up, taking a deep breath. “I’m… I was just so worried. I
knew
there was something wrong when you didn’t call. When you first got sick. From now on promise me, if I feel like something is off, you’ll at least entertain the idea that I may be on to something.”

“Okay.” She smiled her voice small. As though she had been scolded.

“Excuse me.” A nurse came in, interrupting. “But it’s time for Miss Moffett’s pain medication.”

“Sure.” He mouthed the name. “Moffett?”

“In a minute.” She groaned as the needle was pumped in to her IV.  “Yeah, that’s the good stuff.” She waited for the nurse to leave. “It’s a cover name. So the tabloids don’t catch wind, if I’m hospitalized. I work very hard to stay off their radar and out of the lime light.”

“I’ve noticed. Your name is attached to a lot of things but not your face.”

“I’d like to keep it that way.” She rolled to one side, her eyes fluttering close. “I have a sordid past.”

***

When Donnella awoke she was in a private room and Matthew was sound asleep in the chair next to her. His head down on the bed, holding her hand. She wiggled her finger in his hair and he stirred. Picking up his head, to look into her eyes, he half smiled.

“When did they move me?”

“A few hours ago. Some Doctor came in and said you were getting a private suite. So I could follow or go home. I followed. I wasn’t losing sight of you again.”

She turned her head. “There was a second bed. You didn’t have to sleep like that.”

“You wouldn’t let go of my hand.”

“Oh? Sorry then.” She tried sitting up, but fell back.

He stood up, helping her, repositioning her pillows to hold her up. “Better.”

“Much.” She fished for a kiss. For which he happily let her reel him in. “Hmm. Did Harold arrive with my computer last night?”

“I think he’s coming back today.” Matthew answered unsure. “I think he’s holding out, hoping you’ll get some rest first. Which you really need to do. Look at you. You’re stoned. You can’t work stoned.”
