Feeling his master’s thumb idly
slide to his hole, Heath groaned.

“So eager again
for me, Heath?”

It was useless to lie, when Volt
could clearly see the rising and erect truth between his legs. “Oh yes,
master.”

Volt’s golden eyes were intense
with need, and his touches grew firm with want. Heath felt a shiver pass
through his body. Here was a man, his master, who took what he wanted, and at
that moment he wanted Heath more than anything else in the world. Aided by the
water, he could feel Volt’s finger sliding effortlessly into him, and then
another.

Volt was opening him up again,
exposing him for his access.

“Put your arms around my neck,
Heath.”

Heath obeyed, and he groaned as his
soft skin clashed again with Volt’s hard flesh. His breath rushed out of him
when Volt easily lifted his hips and drove suddenly into his waiting opening.
The sudden force and the sweet burn that came with it made him gasp. Heath eyes
widened as he became of Volt’s enormous cock piercing him through the core.

“Feel me inside you, Heath.” Volt’s
eyes bore down on him, merciless and primal. “No matter how many times it
takes, I’m going to remind you who you belong to.”

Heath’s fingers slipped lower to
grip Volt’s shoulders. He didn’t look away from Volt’s penetrating gaze, even
though it felt like he was deliciously being split open. The last thing he
wanted to do was let his master see he was a coward.

“I’ve always belonged to you, Volt.
Even then and definitely now.”
The words rushed out of
Heath in a breathless whisper, but he knew they struck Volt like blows.

Never before had Heath seen so many
emotions filter across his master’s face.
Guilt.
Anger.
Hunger.
To him, Volt had
always been a volatile force of nature. Now though, he realized Volt used his
anger as a shield to conceal his other emotions.

Felor’s arrival had shaken up
things between them, and it reminded Volt of his past, a past Heath intended to
ask about. What the hell happened to Volt? Did Heath misunderstand him and Volt
was a product of his past?

No. Now wasn’t the time for
thinking. Heath hadn’t intended to complicate things. They were fucking
complicated as they stood. Simple was always better. He simply couldn’t get
enough of his master’s rough touches, of Volt’s frightening and consuming brand
of possession because Heath wanted to be possessed in every sense of the word.

“Volt, please,” Heath whispered.

“What the fuck are you begging me
for, Heath?” Volt’s voice sounded harsh.

“I want…” Heath trailed off. Still
impaled on his master’s cock, he could feel the heat rushing to the other parts
of him.

“I know what you want, Heath, but I
want to hear it all the same.”

“I want to feel you moving inside
me, master. Please.” Heath let out a sigh when Volt gripped his hips again and
drove in deep.

“Fuck, Heath. Your quivering little
hole feels amazing around my prick,” Volt whispered against his ear, making him
shiver.

With each damning thrust, Heath
knew he was losing his sense of self. Little by little, he was giving in to
Volt’s claiming, and he wasn’t certain he could find his way out.

“May I come, master?” Heath
managed. He wanted to say more, but Volt’s mouth descended viciously on his.

Heat leaped from him to Volt, but a
part of Heath knew the heat that came from their passion wasn’t a fire that
could burn for a long time. It was electricity- sharp, brief, and more
damaging.

Volt’s mouth consumed him, eager to
reach for his soul. Volt was everywhere. His hands were all over Heath’s body
and his heat was slowly breaching his core and eventually his heart.

His master withdrew his mouth and
whispered, “Come for me, Heath.” Heath’s entire body heaved and shuddered,
content in its complete surrender. He finally came apart at the seams and
became undone.

Chapter Five

Heath woke up happily snuggled in a
warm bed clad with soft sheets and another body wrapped against his skinny
frame.
Damn. When was the last time
someone took me home?
He smells damn
fine too.

It took Heath’s befuddled mind a
millisecond to realize who the bronzed and inked arm carelessly thrown across
his shoulder belonged to. The ache across his bottom was also reminder of what
transpired the night before.

One night.
It only took one night for Volt to greedily claim his body and heart. Heath was
a realist. He’d spent enough time cleaning his master’s messes to know the part
that came next was a kick out the door.

“Fuck.” Heath couldn’t handle this
right now. He needed to think and sort out the mess in his head, and he
couldn’t do that with Volt pressed so close to him.

Heath tried to wriggle out of
Volt’s grip, but the other man only tightened his hold on him, making escape
near impossible. Closing his eyes, Heath concentrated on reaching out for the
tabby inside him. After calming his mind, fur began to replace skin and his
body began to shrink. His four paws hit the soft sheets and Volt’s arm
loosened.

Volt muttered a grumble, but a
quick look at him told Heath the man was still sleeping. Feeling thick fingers
on his spine, Heath let out a little hiss, but it began to feel alarmingly good
as those fingers worked their way up to his furry head.

“Tabby,” Volt mumbled in his sleep.

Heath mewled, beginning to enjoy
himself, when he remembered he needed to think. He nimbly extracted himself and
quietly jumped off the bed. The door was left ajar, so he easily slipped
through the crack. He gave Volt’s gorgeous sleeping profile one last glance
before looking for an exit.

All the windows were shut and a
nudge towards the unit’s metaphysical energies told him Volt had a magical ward
in place.
Paranoid bastard.
Heath was studying the
front door intently, debating whether he could just shift back to human and
walk out, when the door rattled.

Very few people had a key to Volt’s
apartment and the scent outside smelled familiar. It was most likely one of
Volt’s foster brothers, Blaze or Gale. Taking his chances, Heath sprinted out
the crack, yowling when large hands easily lifted him up.

He indignantly sniffed at being
picked up, and was about to extend his claws when he saw who those hands
belonged to.

“It’s been a while since we talked,
Heath. I reckon now’s good as any.” Heath couldn’t read anything behind Havoc’s
dark face, but there was no escaping the man. He slumped against his muscled
arm glumly and let himself be carried.

Havoc deposited him on the front
seat of his car, rummaging through the back seat to find him a spare shirt and
jeans. Heath shifted back and found the clothes were about two sizes too big
for him. Curiosity got the better of him as he sniffed at the shirt.

It didn’t have Havoc’s scent, but
it carried another man’s scent. Gale’s, he realized with no surprise. Unlike
his master and Blaze, Heath had spent enough time in the office to know Gale had
never seen Havoc as a father figure. The
aeromancer
went so often with Havoc on jobs Heath had a feeling the pair had something
going on between the two of them.

He wasn’t sure if either Volt or
Blaze was aware of their relationship, but whatever it was they had, the two
men were careful about it.

Heath wanted to bring up his
suspicions about the shirt, but Havoc’s penetrating gaze made him think the
better of it. Havoc didn’t look like a man in his forties. He had the coiled,
hard muscles and the power and strength of a man half his age, but like always,
the wisdom in his eyes betrayed the depth of his experiences.

“You know why I decided to pick you
up all those years ago, Heath?”

“Yeah.
Because I had the potential to become an Elementalist.”

“You having the talent
is
one thing,” Havoc said. “You being a shifter
is
another.”

“Everyone knows you hate shifters.”

“And do you know why?”

“Should I?” Heath was aware he was
treading on dangerous ground.

He knew the old man had affection
for him like any grandfather would to his grandson, but he also knew provoking
Havoc was as close to a stupid decision as any. To him, Havoc had always stood
behind everyone like an unyielding, shadowy guardian. Havoc let his boys run
their own shows and pull their weight on jobs, but he was there when they
needed him.

Everyone in their unlikely family
knew Havoc didn’t and couldn’t deal with shifters because of something that
happened in his past during his time as a member of the Lyon City magical
council. Heath supposed the only shifters Havoc tolerated were him and
recently, Levi, Blaze’s bear shifter mate.

Thankfully, Havoc changed the
topic.

“We’re more alike than you think,
Heath,” Havoc said eventually, tiredly. For the first time, Heath noticed the
weary lines around his eyes. He didn’t speak. Heath only listened. “We’re
impassioned individuals. Passion drives us, but it may also be the death of
us.”

“I don’t get it. Are you saying I
should give Volt a chance?” Heath asked.

He wasn’t certain how the old man
knew he’d spent the night with Volt. Heath supposed it was because Havoc always
kept track of every member of his family.

“I’m saying make sure you don’t
regret your decisions, but it’s your decision all the same. Volt’s always been
the most volatile of all my adopted sons and the most skilled at hiding his
emotions and his past.”

“Emotions?
Past?”
Heath scoffed.

Havoc sighed. “I suppose this old
man has to play matchmaker again. Volt has wanted you for as long as you’ve
wanted him, Heath, but his guilt and his past always kept him from acting. So
why don’t the two of you stop being brats and start acting like two mature and
consenting adults?”

“No fucking way. Volt’s probably
slept his way through most of the city’s supernatural community and he’s damn
secretive about his past.” Heath frowned at the implication of Havoc’s words.
He had found it odd Blaze’s mate just happened to seek out their office during
a time when Blaze was displaying suicidal tendencies after a botched accident
involving some ghouls. “What do you mean play matchmaker again? Are you talking
about Blaze and Levi? Did you send the bear shifter to Blaze because you knew
he’d be the one to save Blaze from himself after the fire?”

Havoc smiled, showing his
impossibly white teeth. “We’re not talking about Blaze and Levi, Heath.”

Heath let out a sound of
frustration. Damn. Now he remembered why he didn’t always like spending too
much time with the old man. Havoc always had the ability to dig his way through
and eventually get under anyone’s skin.

“Now let’s talk about this demon
you two are having trouble with. The city council has kindly informed me it
must be banished back to the Otherside or else—” Havoc was abruptly cut off by
the sudden sting and crackle of electricity on the sidewalk.

“Meddling old fucker,” Volt hissed,
taking a threatening step toward them. “Get out of Havoc’s car this instant,
Heath.”

“Why, Volt. Couldn’t an old man
have a nice chat with his adopted grandson?” Havoc asked mildly, appearing
unaffected by Volt’s tantrum.

“Didn’t you hear me, Heath?”

Heath’s head jerked to his master,
and he muttered, “Possessive bastard.”

“What the fuck did you call me,
Heath?”

Heath’s eyes only adjusted to the
fact that Volt was barefoot and wearing nothing but an old pair of jeans. The
morning sun glinted on his master’s gloriously bronzed, inked, and muscled
flesh, making Heath aware of his now alert cock. Oh Gods. Havoc was right. He
was already doomed. He had it bad, too bad to disentangle himself now.

Havoc’s words echoed back in his
head.
“Volt has wanted you for as long as
you’ve wanted him, Heath, but his guilt and his past always kept him from
acting.”
Was Havoc right, and Volt was just ashamed of his past?

While it didn’t excuse Volt’s awful
behavior, it explained why Volt always did what he could to keep away. It
wouldn’t hurt to hear him out, a voice inside Heath’s head said.

Volt came back for him after all, and in his
own way, finally admitted his desire. Heath didn’t expect romance from a man
like Volt. He liked Volt’s roughness and unexpected sweetness beneath. It was
one of the reasons why he fell in love with Volt in the first place.

“Well, Heath. Do you want to have
breakfast with me, or do you want to go with Volt?” Havoc asked mildly.

It was much safer, Heath knew, to
stay in the car, but he couldn’t hide forever from Volt. It was time for him to
man-up and make his decision. Running away from Volt because he was afraid of
rejection was really a cowardly thing.

Gathering his courage, Heath took a
deep breath, thanked Havoc for the talk, and stepped out of the car. Volt was
still standing there, arms crossed, like some golden and unforgiving lightning
god. Pulses of electricity leapt across his skin, and Heath loathed the smug
expression that had replaced his anger.

“Came crawling back to me, didn’t
you, Heath?”

Heath’s fist sailed through the
air, punching at Volt’s shoulder. It felt like he’d hit a brick wall. He yelped
when Volt grasped his fist. His fingers loosened when Volt’s mouth caught two
of them and began to suck them. He could feel his cheeks heating up and his
cock rising under his jeans. Damn. Why did he always react this way around his
master?

“Stop that.”

Volt mockingly raised one pierced
eyebrow. He withdrew his mouth to say, “You’re issuing commands to me now,
Heath?”
