The tremendous wail echoed off the walls, startling everyone in the room, including the mighty warrior Cree. His daughter cried out more heartily than his son had.
Old Mary patted Dawn’s shoulder. “A gift from the heavens.”

Cheers of joy rang out through the village when the births were announced and good fortune was claimed for years to come with the birth of a daughter who was born with a voice. It brought tears to many and hope to all.
That night Cree lay in bed with his wife, she cradling their sleeping son and he their daughter.
Dawn never felt so content. She was blessed, so very blessed. She smiled at her husband and pressed her one hand to his heart than pressed it to hers, letting him know how much she loved him.
“That fateful day you entered that hut I thought you nothing more than a weak, frightened lass. But you proved me wrong, and in so doing, you stole my heart. I belong to you and always will.” He kissed her gently. “And make no mistake, wife, you are mine; you belong to me now and forever.”
