~Chapter One~

“Yes, this is what I need. A three week vacation from the outside world,” Spencer said as he drove back to his family’s hideaway cabin in the northeastern part of Maine. It was a beautiful cabin that was extremely remote and both the grounds and the home were spacious. The family would be joining him on Christmas day to celebrate, so the groundskeeper and his wife set up the cabin in full Christmas décor. It wasn’t gaudy or poorly done either, though he hadn’t really cared either way, especially since he felt like scrooge this year.

The last year for the Kane family had been hell. Two years ago they had gotten mixed up with a business man named Mitchell Landry, who had been shady from the start, but they had not taken Spencer’s warning that he hadn’t trusted the man. Several investments that they later learned were dummy companies had caused the Federal Trade Commission to come down on them. Once they got to the bottom of it, they found out that it was Landry who had set them up. At first they couldn’t find the proof that it was him, but slowly all the trails led to him in the end. They had met with the DA and had plans to prosecute in the new year. Although they had been cleared of all the wrongdoing and the charges were dropped, they had lost a lot of their clients. The defamation of character lawsuit they had filed, on top of the federal charges that were going to be handed down, was due to Landry’s accusations that had nearly ruined them in the trading world. If it were not for their years of experience and success, they would have not been able to reverse the effects of his attack.

Spencer Kane was the oldest of the siblings and he had problems of his own. He was a man who spent his youth getting women left and right and had grown disillusioned with the whole game. Spencer had started noticing a change in him about two years ago, but it hadn’t been until eight months ago that he had been struck with a life altering change, impotence.

According to his doctor, he had been suffering from a form of erectile dysfunction supposedly psychologically based. After his most recent bout of impotency, he contacted his physician. They ran a battery of tests only to come up clear, he was truly glad for that. He didn’t want any fucking diseases, but it didn’t explain his lack of sex drive. Spencer hadn’t been able to get a rise in his guy with any of the women he had been with in the last eight months, ever since he turned thirty. It was like his dick had a fucking expiration date that he was not made aware of. Sorry buddy, only thirteen years of getting pussy. Fuck, this sucked and it made his anger rise. It wasn’t that he was horny and not able to rise, no,he had not even been horny at all. It was like his testosterone had left. Like he grew a vagina. He was fucking pissed every fucking day. His two brothers started to avoid his ass
.
They still sported their wood and were getting fucking laid, where he was walking around with a dead snake.
His surly attitude had been hard to tolerate and was why his father happily agreed that he could take an extended vacation. Truth be told, they couldn’t afford to keep losing assistants. There had been many who would quit because of him. The last girl he made cry, that was when he knew he needed to get a grip.

He went into town to stock up on supplies to last the next three week
s
He wanted the least amount of contact with the outside world as possible. The forecaster predicted three feet of snow for tomorrow, but it started coming down early. The roads were icy from all the rain that had fallen before the temperature plummeted. It was getting dangerous to be outside, both with frigid temperatures, the wind, and icy conditions. Thankfully, he would be home soon. The snow could make it nearly impossible to see two feet ahead of you.

There were no other homes up the mountain road, so he would not have to deal with neighbors, which made him glad. He was just about to pull around the bend when he noticed a car go off in a ditch. “Damn it! This is not what I needed!” He was hoping it wasn’t any of his castoffs following him. He had been avoiding his ex-lovers for the last six months. He stopped seeing those whores two months after he developed his problem and even erased all their numbers from his phone.

He was struck down in his prime. Now he had to deal with some stranded person and get them back into town and away from his sanctuary. This vacation was not starting as he had planned. Hopefully they didn’t know that he was a Kane. That was all he needed. His family had added to the value of this small community for the past thirty plus years when his parents bought this place. In town everyone knew who he was, but they all knew it was dangerous to come up here in this weather. Plus, there was no reason since most had seen him in the town shopping.

~Chapter Two~

He pulled his truck off to the side to see a small dark colored four door sedan. It was a newer model, it should have had some good traction.
It was probably a woman driver
, he thought. Sure enough, he jumped out of his truck and had about approached the front of the car when the door opened and a petite brunette bundled up like an Inuit popped out. She lifted her head to look at him, and he no longer felt the frigid air that circulated around him. All of a sudden it was a thousand degrees around him.

“Miss, are you all right?” He could barely get the words out. This wouldn’t work. He needed to get her pretty face away from his flaccid ass. He thought from what he could see that she was very pretty. Spencer could see her dark eyes deeply set in all that normally fair skin that had a tinge of pink due to the cold air. He thought it was bad, but now it was worse. He felt some sort of attraction to her, but his cock was missing in action. She could have been no more than five-four to his six-two, but something about her felt larger than life.

“Umm, yes, but I don’t think my car is.” She pointed to the tire that was now nearly on its side. “Yes, it looks like you broke an axle.” He looked about the car and around the bottom of it, trying to regulate his out of control heart. Now another part of his body was on the fritz.
Damn it
, he thought.

“Are you a mechanic?” She said hopefully.

“No, little one, I am just a guy. There is only one house up here and I was on my way there. Do you want to tell me why you were on this deserted road in the middle of nowhere and when it’s pitch black out?” He had been annoyed before he had seen her, but now he was pissed that she could have been hurt.

“I got confused and there was a sign that had fallen back down the road. Now I know that I was going the wrong way. My GPS is not working down here, so I couldn’t tell which way was the right one. I am sorry. Am I trespassing?” She was fidgeting nervously around him. She was normally not a nervous person, but something about the grumpy man had her heart and mind going crazy. He was a tall and muscular man with broad shoulders in his nice expensive coat. He seemed to hate her on sight, but she was not sure why. Was it because she was trespassing?  Did he have his latest lover waiting at his cabin or was he some sexy hermit?

“Well, yes you are, but at this point there isn’t anything we can do about it. There is only one tow truck in town, and it was working on a car stuck five miles back when I was on my way here, and there is limited cellphone reception up here. I have more room up at the cabin if you would like to stay until whoever you are going to get a hold of can come and get you, or once the snow dies down I can drive you into town. It should let up in the morning.” He was getting more and more frustrated by the moment. He wondered if perhaps he thawed out his dick might cooperate.

“I don’t know what to do. I know I shouldn’t have come to visit him.” For some inexplicable reason those words had pissed him off. Who the fuck had she come to see? A lover?

“Sweetheart, relax, don’t worry your pretty little head. I am not some creep out scouting for stranded women. I happen to be trying to get away from work and enjoy a quiet vacation.” Spencer was not trying to pressure her to come back to the cabin with him, but it was not safe to go back into town.

“Oh my, I can walk back to town. It is not too far from here.” She kept looking back at the road behind him, which made him wary and jealous, like she had to find her lover.

“Baby girl, the town is six miles, and in this weather you wouldn’t get two miles before you started getting frost bit. Come on, you can come with me for the night and maybe we can get someone out to help tomorrow when it is light.”

“I can’t. We don’t even know each other and you wanted your peace and quiet.”

“My name is Spencer Kane. I am not a stranger now. So tell me, baby girl, what is your name?”

“It is Rose.”

“Rose?” He waited impatiently for her last name, which she seemed hesitant to give him. She sucked in a deep breath, gearing herself for the impending anger she was sure to receive.

“Rose Landry.”

“Landry as in the Landrys of Oak Haven?” Now he was truly mad. This had to be some setup. What the hell was a Landry doing driving towards our house?

“Yes.” She tilted her head towards the ground, fearful of the reaction she knew he would have considering who her father was.

“You will be safe from me, I promise, and tomorrow I will take you into town and get you to your family.” Spencer was pissed. The first woman to get a reaction out of him was the daughter of the bastard that had tried to destroy him last year. He claimed that Spencer and the Kane Corporation were guilty of insider trading. Thankfully he had his brother, Ryan the lawyer, to handle the bull the bastard Mitchell Landry had tried to sell the trade commission. Now her story sounded a lot like bullshit.

“How old are you?” He was staring at her, truly curious how old she was. She looked really young and really beautiful to him. Was she even legal? Was that their game? To get her to seduce him then charged with statutory rape. Hell no! She had to go. His thoughts were getting to him.

“I am seventeen. Why?” He blew out a breath of air in relief. She was barely legal, so that theory was out of the question.

“Because I think your bastard father sent you up here so I could be persuaded by your spectacular looks and if I am enticed by you, I will drop the charges.” He hadn’t meant to let her to know that she was affecting him.

“He wouldn’t do that. He doesn’t like you. Why would he try to pawn me off on you?” She felt nauseous at his accusations. Her father had said her GPS would work and that her cousin, Reed’s cabin was just up a hill on a deserted road. It was clear he had lied to her. There was only one house on the hill and it belonged to Mister Hot Grumpy Pants. Her father had been to Reed’s cabin plenty of times for fishing so he knew he was sending her to the wrong place. Why?

“Your father is a manipulative prick, but I am sorry, sweetheart, it won’t work.” He watched as she nearly vomited right in front of him, but had stopped her nausea in its tracks. Why the hell had she gotten sick? All types of scenarios went through his head as he watched her reaction, and the one he voiced was the one that made him furious and not for the reason he said, but because he was pissed that someone else knocked her up. Where that anger came from he wasn’t sure, but he sure as hell didn’t care for it.

“What, are you already pregnant and he is thinking if you came up here I would be stupid enough to fuck you and believe that you were pregnant with my bastard? Well, you can go back to your father and tell him that I don’t want some little whore doing her father’s bidding.” The emotions that had crossed her face should have prepared him for her wrath but it hadn’t. Smack! She palmed his face, but she had gloves on. He didn’t get the full effect of her retribution for his insult, but he felt the emotional sting.

“You are the whore. I know that you have lovers galore. You are the worst of the Kane boys. I didn’t come out here to meet you, I was on my way to my cousin Reed’s house.” She didn’t back down, despite his scary demeanor. For some reason she wasn’t afraid of him. He had the build of a real manly man who worked out daily but had an air of sophistication about him, even with his terrible attitude.

“Landry, don’t lie to me. Reed lives on the opposite side of town.” He watched as shock and pain crossed her face. Then he felt a momentary lapse in his anger and actually felt sorry for her.

“That can’t be. He wouldn’t lie to me like that. He knows I would never be with a man like you. A man who is a pro at seducing women and discarding them.”

“I don’t seduce women, they give themselves to me with ease. They know their place is temporary so when it is over, it’s over.” His justification for being a whore had only upset her more.

“Excuse me, I have wasted enough time talking to you. I need to get a move on, because I would rather get frostbite than be with you another moment.” She huffed away and back to her car. She pulled out her purse and phone, which had no signal, and set off back down the road.

She was only about twenty feet away from him when the wind picked up and Spencer ran to her and scooped her up in his arms.

“Come on, don’t be stupid.” He had been offended that she would rather take her chances with the elements than to spend another minute in his presence, especially since he wanted to spend time in her presence when he should despise even looking at her.

“I am not stupid. You are just an ass. That is probably why I am not your type. I actually have a brain compared to your usual fare. Let me down.” She was flailing about in his arms, thankfully he was much bigger than her small frame or she would have gotten what she wanted, but not to her liking.

“Sweetheart, if you had a brain, you wouldn’t insult me when I am carrying you.” He pretended to loosen his grip and teetered on dropping her when she gripped him around his neck tighter. He chuckled at her reaction and despite her anger and embarrassment, she really enjoyed hearing the sound of his deep timbered chuckle. He carried her all the way back to his truck. He set her down on the ground and opened the truck door. “Get in.” He waited until she was seat belted in before he closed the door. For some strange reason he didn’t want to walk away. She stubbornly looked out the other window so he could not see her face, and yet, he stood compelled to stare at her and hope that she would look at him. Spencer turned away when a big wind gust hit him and he knew he had to get a hurry on. Had he looked back, he would have seen his little vixen looking at him.

He then walked over to the broken down car and turned on the GPS unit that was sitting on the dashboard. The unit didn’t load with the directions, but it gave the starting point and the end point, which he had a feeling had happened when Rose told him her GPS stopped working. It normally goes out in these rural areas. It was funny that his address was plugged into the history as the end point and there was an address he didn’t recognize, it was probably hers. He ripped it off the dash and put it in his pocket. He had some questions for her. He walked around to the trunk that he popped from the inside and took out her luggage. How fucking long was she planning to stay with Reed and why had that upset him so much?

He walked back to the truck and put her luggage into the back. Returning to her car, he put on the flashers so that no one would slam into it, not that anyone should be coming to see him. His parents would be here in less than a week, and by then he would have gotten rid of his sexy house pest. When he looked at the broken wheel, he wondered what the hell had she hit that would have caused her axle to crack. There was nothing underneath the vehicle that he could see,
strange,
he thought. It was time to check on the crooked princess. He had his truck running and it was nice and toasty when he entered it again. Before he closed the door he asked, “So who entered the coordinates for the trip?”

With no reply, he turned to look at Rose and she was sleeping. Her hood was now off her head and now he had a great view of her face. She was a beauty. Before it had been hidden under her furry hood, but now it was on full display. “Oh shit, this is not happening,” he whispered to himself. He had been without an erection for eight months and now his dick was giving him the thumbs up. This was not good. It didn’t matter that she was the first woman he actually wanted to have a conversation with, to learn things about, and now he wanted to dip into her honeyed treasure. He wasn’t going there.
This was a big mistake
, he chanted to himself as he started to drive up the hill to the last mile of his journey to the beautiful Kane family cabin. She was the daughter of a crook and he was having no part of it, but hell if she didn’t have some sort of siren call that beckoned him to come.

He needed to think of something else. The moment he dropped her off in town tomorrow, he would go and hit up whatever female he could find and get her to spread her thighs, or at least her lips so he could shake this need. Hell, he might even take himself in hand tonight.

His priority was to get her settled and as far away from him as soon as possible. She could be nothing but trouble. He unloaded the truck of her things before he carried her into the already warm cabin. He was glad they had central heating in this place. There was spare wood, but there was only one fireplace, so if they lost power, they would have to share the living area for the night. The storm outside was picking up and there was about a foot on the ground already. He laid her on the sofa and stared down at the sleeping beauty, who he noticed had tear tracks down her face. He tried to not let that affect him. He returned to the truck, slowly letting icy air cool his blood, trying to forget the woman who had his heart doing things it has never done before. It was acting as though he had run miles. It wasn’t just when he carried her up the cabin steps, but started it’s craziness from the first time he had seen her get out of the car. To know who she is and how beautiful she is made him angry. Landry didn’t know about his problem, so he just assumed his pretty little girl would lure him in. He needed to reel in the desire to take her. When he walked back into the cabin, his wood was aching to be in her warm hearth. He looked down at her, trying to understand and fight this bizarre reaction to a total stranger. It wasn’t working, so he walked back to the car to get the last of the groceries. Normally it would have been one trip for a strong overgrown man like him, but he needed space between them and another shot of frozen air.
