“Why even bother with his phone number?” Amy said. “Just take him home tonight.”

“You’re absolutely right! Look at the way he handles himself behind the bar – I bet he’s fantastic in bed.”

“Geez, Lexi. I was just kidding!”

Lexi ignored her and turned to Holly. “So, we already know that Amy may as well be an old married woman.” Amy stuck her tongue out at Lexi, but she continued. “But you, Holly, are a free woman. You can get hot and sweaty with anyone, anytime you want.”

Her friends knew about Holly’s breakup, but she had never gone into that much detail about it. “I’m staying away from men for awhile. It’s nice to just be alone. I don’t think I could even be interested in someone right now.”
Liar.

“Nonsense!” said Lexi. “You need to get back on the horse – so to speak – as soon as possible. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Hey! I know this dude that would be perfect! You guys would really hit it off. I’ll bring him with me to Amy’s next week for my birthday party. You’ll be there, right?”

Before Holly could respond, Amy dropped her head in her hands and said, “Oh shit! About your party…I am so sorry, Lexi! I’ve been meaning to tell you, but you know how busy things have been at work and --”

“I hope you are planning on telling me that your period is late and NOT something that I do not want to hear, especially something about my fabulous party that you are planning on throwing for me.”

“Again, Lexi, I am really sorry. I had planned on giving you the most incredible celebration, but my grandmother is staying with me temporarily while her home is getting fumigated. It was all last minute and she didn’t have anywhere else to go on such short notice. I just can’t have a party with her there. Please understand?”

“I was so looking forward to this.” Lexi actually whined.

“I know!” Amy shouted. “Holly can have the party!”

***

Shit! Shit! Shit! I am sitting here trying to figure out what I have gotten myself into tonight. I wasn’t too happy with Amy putting me on the spot like that. I don’t have any plans next weekend, but I don’t exactly want to host a party either. My place is too small. Amy assured me that I wouldn’t have to do a thing. She said she would come over early and get everything ready. She just has a small list of guests – nothing too extreme. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal, she says. HA! Right now, I doubt that. I guess one good thing is that I won’t be sitting alone in my apartment drinking wine and eating chocolate and fantasizing about some guy that I want wrapped around me. Never mind that the whole point of me moving was to actually be alone. Why don’t I seem to know what I want?

“I’m so glad you called me,” Kami said, snapping her gum. “I feel like we have this connection, you know?”

Jack had invited her out to dinner again, but this time it was at his place. He wanted another chance to prove that he still had it; he was not about to let a fine-ass woman get away without at least one night of hot sex. Besides, he rationalized; she couldn’t have been
that
bad the other night. He hadn’t had the best day at work, what with the boss riding his ass to finish those reports and all that. Anything would have made him annoyed after his shitty day.

Two hours later and he took that all back.

At least dinner was great; he’d grilled out a couple steaks, made baked potatoes and a cold cucumber salad (which, incidentally, made him think of Holly). He ate more than he intended and probably outdid all his hard work he put in at the gym that morning. Although, all the beer he drank (he lost count after five) probably did the most damage. He normally didn’t drink that much anymore. That was one part of his past that he was more than happy to leave behind. Sure, he still enjoyed a drink or two, but he never allowed himself to become drunk anymore.

Why he pounded so many down tonight was a mystery. Maybe Kami really was
that
maddening. It wasn’t just her incessant chattering – she was also impossible to follow in a conversation and she made his head hurt.

“And, so, my BFF told me I just
had
to buy these shoes – aren’t they killer? – but they were soooo expensive, you know?” Kami said. “But then I figured, you only live once, you know? I really did have to buy them. But then I would have these awesome shoes and nothing to wear them with, so I just had to buy a new dress too. What do you think?” Kami stood up and gave a little twirl.

Jack opened his mouth to respond, only to shut it again. Kami droned on. “Well, I love it and who cares that I won’t be able to afford food for the rest of the month.” She giggled. “It’ll keep me skinny enough to actually fit in the dress, so that’s a bonus, and you only live once, you know?”

Yes, I know.
That is only the millionth time she’s said that tonight.

DING-DONG

The sound of the doorbell rang, cutting Kami off mid-sentence, saying God knows what. Jack opened the door only to find Holly standing there, looking like a tall glass of cool water compared to what he was dealing with inside.

“Oh, hey Holly. What can I do for you?”
I know what I’d like to do for you…and to you.

Her heart inflated at the sight of him. “I was just wondering if…” She paused as she looked past Jack and noticed
her
sitting on the couch, inspecting her red dragon-lady nails. Holly’s heart deflated. “Um…actually, I was just wondering if I could borrow a cup of sugar.”

“A cup of sugar?”

“Yeah. I’m making my aunt’s famous brownie recipe and I realized I’m out of sugar. Of course, you can’t make brownies without sugar. Would you happen to have some I could borrow, please?”

Jack gave her a perplexed look and told her he’d be right back.
Geez, girl, couldn’t you have come up with something better than that?
Holly thought. It took her all day just to gather enough courage to come over and invite him to Lexi’s party. What was she supposed to do? It’s not like she was still going to ask him after seeing the slut sitting there. She wanted to be the one on his couch. She wanted to be the one looking into his piercing smoky-blue eyes and the one licking his chiseled rock-hard body…

“Are you okay, Holly?” Jack interrupted Holly from her naughty thoughts. He was standing there holding a bag of sugar.

“I’m fine, just a bit tired. I must have gotten distracted for a minute.”

“Well, I can’t exactly borrow you this sugar because I don’t expect it back, but I would like to taste one of those famous brownies.”

Holly felt her cheeks flush as she thought of him tasting
her.
“Oh, okay. Definitely. Thanks again and sorry for disrupting your night.” Holly grabbed the sugar and quickly made her way back to her apartment.

“So where were we before we were so rudely interrupted?” Kami said. “Oh yeah, I was telling you about my dress. I have another one almost exactly the same, but in the color green. I don’t usually wear clothes in that color, you know? But it was just such an unusual shade and I do like to stand out, but whenever I would wear it, I would get too many comments about smuggling watermelons under my dress. It was getting just a bit exhausting, you know?”

Aargh!
Focus on her tits,
Jack willed himself. They did look great in that dress. They spilled out and just begged to be touched. They were fucking huge. He wondered how something that big could be stuffed into such a little amount of material. It was so tight that he could see her hard nipples poking through, straining the fabric. She wasn’t wearing a bra, not that she’d have anywhere to put one inside that dress.

“See anything you like?” Kami purred. She leaned over, squashing those giant melons on him in the process. They kissed for a few minutes and then she started peeling off her dress.
Wow, she works fast.
It almost made the whole first part of the night bearable. Almost. She stood in front of him wearing only her tiny thong panties, her enormous breasts defying gravity. She ran her hands over them, pinching her nipples until they were hard little peaks. Slowly she pulled down her panties, exposing a shaved pussy.

“Now I want to see what you’ve got to offer me.” She grabbed for Jack’s zipper.

Shit, she’s going to be disappointed. This has never happened before – it must be the all the alcohol.
He thought that could be the only possible explanation. Seeing a body like hers, offering it up so willingly, would normally get him harder than a sledgehammer. Before he could stop her, she felt for his bulge and seemed offended when she couldn’t find one. By her reaction, he had the feeling that this had never happened to her either. He was about to explain, but a wave of exhaustion tore through him. He leaned back, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.

When he awoke an hour later, Kami was gone (no surprise there) and a note was in her place. It read:

Thanks for dinner but don’t bother calling me again!!!!!!!!!!

Man, ten exclamation points…couldn’t that woman do anything subtle? But fine by him, he wouldn’t be contacting her again. Maybe it was time for him to find a nice girl and settle down. Maybe have a couple kids. No, he didn’t want that right now either. He just knew he was getting sick of the one-night stands and quickie relationships that he thrived on before, but he probably shouldn’t be too hasty. Taking a short break from women for awhile seemed like a reasonable alternative. In the meantime, he would just have to rely on his hand. It had never let him down before.

One week later, Holly was scrambling to get everything finished for this birthday party that she wasn’t even sure she wanted to be hosting. She liked Lexi, even though she was so outrageous, but that only made her more interesting. If she wanted more excitement in her life, Lexi was the person to have around. It was also good to meet people, and she would certainly be doing that for this party, but she didn’t know if this was the right way to do it. She wasn’t too comfortable with lots of strangers in her apartment.

She took the stuffed mushrooms out of the oven (thankfully, the last thing to make) and gave the vodka punch another stir. She had a fridge full of beer and soda, and several bottles of wine on the table. She had spent most of the day shopping and preparing the food for tonight. Amy had offered to pay her back, but she was still stuck doing all the work. Amy had planned on coming over early, but she was unexpectedly called away to take her grandmother to a doctor’s appointment. Holly wanted to be pissed off, but she would feel like a monster for getting mad at someone for taking care of their sweet old grandma.

Holly debated about decorating, but decided she wasn’t throwing a party for a 10-year-old. Lexi was turning 23 and her and everyone else would probably only care about how much alcohol was served. Even the food would be secondary. She suddenly wished she hadn’t spent so much time making it – several bags of chips thrown on the table would have been sufficient. She also forgot to get a gift.
Screw it. I’m sure giving her this party is gift enough.

The doorbell rang and she went to the door wishing for the best.

“I am so sorry! I got here as soon as I could,” Amy said, walking into the apartment holding several bags. “Everything looks great!” She proceeded to unload all the munchies and a mega-sized box of condoms. Amy noticed Holly’s raised eyebrows and said, “It’s a present for Lexi – hopefully she can make them last out the week.”

DING-DONG

Holly went back to the door, psyching herself up again for the night ahead as Amy arranged all the snacks in bowls. She opened the door to find several people that she had never seen before, which was exactly what she was expecting.

“Hey, Jeff, Jon, Lisa, Jen,” yelled Amy from across the room. “This is Holly – the one who graciously agreed to let us use her apartment for this party tonight.”

After introductions were made, the foursome settled in with a drink and some food. More people continued to pour in over the next hour and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The music was pumping (but not too loud, otherwise Mrs. Thomas down the hall would probably call the cops, or have a coronary) and the conversation was flowing, along with the alcohol. Holly started to worry if they’d run out of booze before the birthday girl even arrived. But she had to admit, she was really starting to have a good time. Maybe this party wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

“Where the hell is Lexi?” Amy shouted. “You’d think the guest of honor would have gotten her ass here by now.” The words barely left her mouth when the doorbell rang. “Speak of the slut.” Amy laughed. Holly looked at her in surprise; Amy tended to be overly vocal with a few drinks in her. “Oh, I didn’t say anything she wouldn’t say about herself. She’d probably be offended if I didn’t talk about her that way.” From what Holly knew about Lexi so far, she couldn’t disagree with that statement.

She opened the door, assuming to see Lexi there, and possibly a guest or two, but was thoroughly blown away to see Jack standing there among them.

“Hey, girlfriend!” Lexi said, hugging Holly. “I hope you don’t mind – I found this mouth-watering man outside and he was all by his lonesome. Isn’t he delish? I just had to invite him up. He said that he already knew you, so I hope it’s okay?”

Holly didn’t even know what to say. “So anyway,” Lexi continued. “This is Scott. I told you that I would bring him over for you tonight. You guys will totally have a good time.” She nudged him closer to Holly, gave her a wink, and said, “Have fun!” Lexi grabbed Jack by the arm and pulled him into the booming party. Jack looked at Holly, shrugged his shoulders, and smiled.

Holly was left standing there with Scott. “Um, hello Scott. Nice to meet you.” She was talking to him, but not paying much attention. Her focus was on Jack and the woman she
thought
was her friend. The one she threw this stupid party for. Jealousy, which was quickly becoming a commonplace emotion for her, welled up inside. She wanted to be the one on Jack’s arm, the one who would most likely end up in his bed tonight.
Get a grip Holly.
Rationally, she knew that Lexi wasn’t doing anything wrong. She was just being her normal man-magnetic self. Lexi didn’t know how much she wanted him. Too bad her logical mind was always battling with the rest of her lately, which she was convinced was insane.
