Dave came out of the house and looked pleased to find us in the water. He tossed his tank top on a chair and jumped in the pool, directing a huge splash in my direction. I tried in vain to keep my hair dry. “Come on in, guys. This is the part of the night where we finally just chill out.”

“Sounds good to me,” Neil said. He shed his shirt and joined us in the water. He wasn’t quite as buff as my husband or Jay, but he held his own.

“I’ll just hang up here. I didn’t bring a bathing suit,” Jay said.

“Man, I told you this was a pool party. I have some board shorts you can change into. We’re about the same size,” Dave said.

“You don’t have to do that.”

“You can’t just hang up there while we’re all in the water. It’ll just take a second. I’ll be right back.”

Dave hopped out of the pool and ran, dripping inside the house, which he knows annoys me. Jay stood up there looking sheepish, and I said, “It’s nothing really. You don’t want to be left out. It’s really nice in here.”

“Yeah, we’ve got plenty of room for you,” Jana added. She sat on one of the submerged concrete stools at the bar and I’m sure she meant for him to sit right beside her. Neil just rolled his eyes. He knew his wife was an incorrigible flirt. He saw it as harmless.

Dave returned with a pair of blue and gray board shorts and tossed them to Jay. Dave slipped back into the water and Jay stood by a chair and stripped down. Jay was not shy. He looked like one of the guys from
Magic Mike
with his shirt off. Jana and I both stared. I couldn’t help it. Jay was that incredible. It’s not that I don’t appreciate my husband—that had nothing to do with my going on hot dates. Dave is a handsome guy in great shape, and I’m not the only one who thinks so. I see the other wives in the neighborhood—including Jana—lusting after him and I know that’s the reason he’s the first one they call when they need something fixed. They’d love to know how good he
really
is with his hands. But Jay was in a league of his own. His six pack was like granite, his arms like sculpted pillars. He was the stuff of romance novel covers. When he dropped his cargo shorts, Jay turned to the side in a show of modesty, but we could still see the substantial bulge in the front of his clingy boxer briefs. He pulled on the board shorts and I quickly looked away when he turned back toward the pool.

“You girls can stop staring now,” Dave chuckled.

I didn’t answer, but my cheeks flushed in response. Jana was defiant. “Looking is harmless,” she insisted.

“Not the way you were staring,” Dave pressed.

Jay slipped over the side of the pool and came over to join us, holding his beer high, out of the water. We were  lounging in the shallow end, near the bar. Besides the stools, there was a low ledge on the sides making sitting in the pool easier. The water came to just below my shoulders when sitting. Now that we were all just relaxing, I realized Jay was the only one with a drink handy.

Forever the perfect hostess, I hopped up onto the bar and swung my legs around to get behind it. I drew beers for Dave and Neil, and poured fresh sangrias for Jana and myself. I climbed over the bar again and I caught Jay looking at me while I was out in the warm night air. I hoped he liked what he saw, but not
too
much.

“So where’s your girlfriend tonight?” Jana asked Jay. I love my friend, but there is nothing subtle about her. While I moved in close to my husband, she had left distance between her and Neil.

“Don’t have one. Am I supposed to?” Jay flashed a charming smile.

“And why do you care?” Neil asked. He was just a little drunk, so it was hard to tell if he was teasing his wife or annoyed by her flirting. He usually took that kind of thing in stride, but Jana seemed genuinely enthralled by our handsome guest.

“Maybe she wants a date. Look at the upside, buddy, you get the house to yourself for a night,” Dave teased. I sat between his legs, pressed back against him, and I twisted my neck to stare at him.

“You have a point,” Neil agreed. I tried not to read anything into his answer. I did not believe that all men were like my husband.

“Can’t a girl be curious?” Jana feigned offense, but not very well.

If Jay was embarrassed by the attention, he hid it well. He did not seem like the type who was flustered easily. “I’m not sure I want to settle down. I tried it once already and it didn’t exactly work out.”

“What a stupid girl. Help me out here, Dana. Would you let a guy like Jay get away?”

I didn’t like being put on the spot and I stammered before answering. “Maybe he’s incredibly messy.”

“I think I could deal,” Jana said.

Jay flashed another
aw shucks
smile. “A roll in the hay is one thing. Living with someone is tough, you guys all know that for sure.”

“You’re telling me,” Neil agreed.

He was a wise young man. Dave and I have a good marriage, but living with someone can indeed be tough. A
roll in the hay
, as Jay put it, was all about fun, not love and commitment. And it was very easy to picture a roll in the hay with Jay. He stood in the low water, so most of his chiseled chest was on view. The night had grown dark, but we had more than enough lights outside to give a nice view of him.

For an insane second, I thought maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing if my husband had brought Jay around to fuck me. Dave’s taste was excellent. I could just imagine Jay pinning my ankles back by my ears and giving me the ride of my life. I shook that image from my mind. No way Dave would risk word getting around his company that he liked sharing his wife.

“So is that what you’re looking for these days?” I couldn’t believe I asked it. It wasn’t like I was interested.

“Hmm?” Jay looked at me—or I should say he looked at my tits floating just above the water before he found my eyes.

“A roll in the hay? A little bit of fun?” I asked.

“I’m always up for a good time. Who isn’t?” Jay asked. I swear there was a challenge in his eyes. It excited me
and
frightened me. I kept telling myself Dave was
not
trying to set me up.

“I know I am,” Jana interjected. I don’t think she liked that the attention had turned from her.

“I love a good time,” I agreed. Dave wrapped his arms tighter around me and I felt his cock surge against my butt.

“You should hear Jay’s stories. He’s got married women hitting on him all the time,” Dave said. Was that for my benefit?

“Really?” Neil asked.

“I don’t know if I would say all the time,” Jay demurred. Modesty didn’t really work for him.

“He’s just trying to be nice for the girls,” Dave insisted.

“So just how many married women have you fucked?” Jana asked. I finally noticed that she’d been moving closer to Jay the entire time and now she practically shoved her tits in his face. And oddly, I was jealous. I expect men to be staring at Jana when she’s around, but I had a new attitude since we’d started our hot dates and I wanted my share of attention. Even though I would never fuck Jay, I needed to know that I could.

“A few, but not a lot,” he stated. He could not avoid looking at Jana’s tits now, and he didn’t try to hide it from her husband. He must have figured that if Neil wasn’t stopping her he didn’t mind. I didn’t know about that, but he did let Jana do her thing. “Listen, there’s a certain type of woman, I think, who goes out on the prowl. A lot of them are divorced, but not all of them. I guess maybe the others should be.”

“What type of woman is that?” I asked. I wondered if he would describe me when I was out on my hot dates. Is this who Zach thought I was?

Jay finally seemed uncomfortable with our attention, but it didn’t stop him. You have to admire a man who can be frank. “I think that when women get older, they come into their own sexually. You know, late thirties, early forties.” Jana was in her early forties, but I was thirty-six. I did not consider that
late
anything. Jay was not that much younger. I pegged him at around thirty. “I think a lot of women get divorced around then and figure out that maybe they settled for the wrong guy and they want to experience what’s out there. Guys aren’t any different. If you go to the right bars you can see them hanging out, looking.”

“And you go to these bars?” Neil asked. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought he wanted to head to one of them himself.

“Sometimes,” Jay answered. There was that smile again. “When I’m looking to hook up.”

“Looking for a sure thing,” Dave interjected. It seemed like he really had heard some stories. Did that convince my husband Jay was the perfect man to take me to bed?

“Maybe. But these women, I hate to say cougars, really are just looking for a good time. They want to go out to a bar, meet a guy, have some fun, and move on. They aren’t looking for entanglements, and they are looking to get their freak on. All those things they were self conscious about when they were someone’s wife are on the table now. They want to feel dirty.”

Jana was staring at him like he was a god. I know she was imagining him making
her
feel dirty. I know it because I was imagining much the same thing. She touched his arm, and asked, “But they aren’t all divorced?”

“No, they aren’t. I think the married ones are crazier because they don’t really have that freedom. They’ve been with the same guy, doing the same thing, for years and there’s no end in sight. They probably have a couple divorced friends telling them how they’re getting laid every night. These women have kept themselves in shape, but maybe their husbands haven’t, and they just don’t feel appreciated. They’re looking for someone to make them feel hot. They want to feel dirty too, in a way they could never feel with their husbands.”

“Do you think their husbands have any idea what they’re up to?” Dave asked. Of course he asked that.

“I can’t imagine,” Jay answered. “Or if they do, they’ve just decided to let it go. They’re probably cheating too.”

“And these women don’t feel guilty?” Jana asked. She was hanging on his every word. I love my friend, but I could see her out at some bar, all dressed up and hoping to meet a guy like Jay. It didn’t mean she didn’t love Neil, but she
loves
attention. Not that I had any room to talk.

“We don’t talk about that sort of thing. We don’t usually talk about much, especially afterward. They just grab their things and go.”

I couldn’t help but feel Jay was describing me on a hot date—all dressed up to meet a guy, small talk and flirting, then going somewhere private if we hit it off. We fool around, and I take off right afterward. Knowing what Jay liked only made me more paranoid that my husband had brought him home for me.

“Don’t you feel guilty?” Neil asked, judgment in his tone. “You could be ruining families. You’re fucking other men’s wives.”

“It’s not like I would fuck a buddy’s wife behind his back or anything like that. There’s a line. And it’s not like I’m going out intending to bang a married woman, but if she’s throwing it out there, and she’s hot, I’m not going to say no. If it isn’t me, it’s going to be somebody else, right? I don’t have affairs with these chicks, and probably, their husbands are never going to find out.”

The tension in the pool was palpable. Neil did not look satisfied with Jay’s answer, but that made sense given the way his wife was cozying up to the hot construction worker. Jana was floating on her back in the middle of all of us, but right in front of Jay, so her entire body was laid out for him. Jay looked at her, of course, but I was pleased that his eyes kept flicking over at me, too. Unlike Neil, my husband didn’t mind that attention at all.

Dave changed the subject to ease the tension. Perhaps he felt he’d accomplished his goal, whatever that was. He asked what the guys thought of the Patriots’ chances in the fall and the subject of horny, untamed cougars was dropped. Except, I know it was still on my mind, and probably Dave’s too. Jana didn’t push it any further and soon it was time for everyone to go home.

Our neighbors would come over early to get their kids, so we didn’t want to make it too late of a night. Neil and Jana gathered their stuff and I saw them to the gate to say goodnight. Dave waved his goodbyes and took Jay inside to dry off and change back into his clothes. Neil gave me a hearty hug at the gate, and came dangerously close to grabbing my ass. I let it go because I knew it was due to Jana’s flirting, and I was pretty horny anyway, and it felt good. I may have even rubbed my wet, bikini-clad body against him just to tease. I could almost picture the charged, angry sex they would be having when they got home.

I patted myself dry with a towel and walked into the house to find Jay walking out of our downstairs bathroom and Dave nowhere in sight. Jay carried the board shorts and his wet underwear.

“Oh, hey, what do you want me to do with these?” he asked, holding out Dave’s shorts.

“Here, I’ll take them.”

I took the shorts and almost grabbed his underwear too. He followed me through to the laundry room, where I threw the shorts into a basket, and when I turned around I ran right into him. He instinctively held my arms and for an electrifying second we were pressed together. He felt like solid granite under those clothes and it made my heart pound to know he felt as good as he looked. I’d always been able to appreciate a good looking guy, but it was different now that I had permission to play with them as I wished.
