Family is so
important. I enjoy writing about love and relationships, as well as
generational curses and soul ties. Real life stuff with real life broken
people.
I do admit
that in this sequel I was planning that Mason would cheat on Mercedes with
Mattie’s nurse, Lucinda. The final paragraph would have been Mason receiving a
text with a nude photo of her while he’s on his way to jail, and Mercedes
reading the text. However, being that his brother Claude does what he does in
this book; one out of the three brothers cheating was enough. Not all men are
cheaters. This novel was more about what the women did, and so, even though I
tried, Mason wouldn’t do that this time around. When he was away living in
Leimert Park he was basically depressed, dealing with the loss of his career,
the passing of his mother, his reduced income, and his disappointment in his
wife’s choice to let Ryan come to her hotel room in Vegas, which all
contributed to him falling off the wagon. Mason simply wouldn’t creep again,
and my fingers couldn’t force him to.

I look
forward to bringing you the Wilsons one more time as we check up on them in
2013 in L.A. HUSBANDS AND WIVES. It’ll be more hot family drama, on that you
can bet.
Until then,
please check out the following chapter excerpt for the next Marissa Monteilh
title, which hits in 2012. Sexy Dr. Makkai Worthy, the good doctor, is back by
popular demand in the sequel to DR. FEELGOOD called YOU’VE GOT IT BAD. (By the
way, you might want to read DR. FEELGOOD first before you read this preview –
I’m just saying!)
Ciao

CHAPTER
YOU’VE
GOT IT BAD: The Dr. Feelgood Sequel

Prologue
January 2012
I’M BACK.
Dr. Makkai
Worthy.
A cardiac
surgeon.
The head of
cardiology at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.
Let me tell
you what a ride it’s been since 2007.
Years ago I
was a bachelor having the time of my life.
I was so wrapped
up into messing with the women who threw themselves at me, that I caught a case
with my very own sister.
I had no
idea that Monday Askins, the woman I was getting with on a
friends-with-benefits basis, was my father’s daughter.
And that
makes my five year-old daughter, Fonda Corrine Worthy, my niece, and my
father’s daughter’s daughter. The baby girl who was only 2.47 pounds at birth,
lived. She’s my miracle. Even though her mother and I share fathers.
Her mother,
Monday, turned out to be the biggest surprise of my life. Not only did I
discover she was my sister after seeing photos of her mother at my dad’s house,
but she also turned out to be homeless, pretending to live in Palos Verdes when
she and her dog lived in the backseat of a beat-up old Jaguar.
The day
after she gave birth, she left the hospital and left me a note, giving me full
custody of our daughter. But, she showed up again, giving me another note which
she left on the windshield of my car. It read:
I will get my daughter if
it’s the last thing I do. This I promise you. Dr. Feelgood, this I promise you.
Love, Delicious
.
Delicious
was what I called her. Well, let’s just leave it at that.
Now it is
true that the one who ended up being my lady, Mary Jane Cherry, a nurse at the
hospital, stuck by me and had my back. She’d been my rock after little Fonda
was born. That is until last year. She realized even before I did that even
though I said I loved her, and she’d earned the key to my house, she hadn’t yet
earned the key to my heart.
And she was
right.
Turns out no
one has.
Yet.
See, thing
is, I’ve been a playboy for as long as I can remember.
My dad
taught me how to please a woman, live and in person, and I’m so turned on by
women, so turned on by variety, that I just can’t be a one woman man. I just
had to face it. My dad messed me up.
See, that’s
why they call me Dr. Feelgood.
I just can’t
have one.
That’s
another reason why Mary Jane left me and the reason Monday was able to make
good on her promise. She got custody of my daughter Fonda because of the drama
I‘ve been through since 2007.
I’m here now
to tell you how it’s been living in my lifesaving shoes. And just like last
time, the ladies will tell you their stories from their points of view. They’ll
try to give you a rundown on Worthy’s Anatomy, if you know what I mean. But
I’ll interject the truth when necessary. You know how they are.
But the
point is with all the lives I’ve saved with these skillful hands, it’s high
time for me to save my own life once and for all.
I just don’t
want to be like my poppa, the rolling stone, with dozens of grown kids he’s
never even met.
I don’t want
wherever I lay my hat to be my home.
I want to
break the generational curse because I’ve got to get my daughter Fonda back if
it’s the last thing I do.
But in the
meantime, I admit it.
I’ve got it
bad.
And that
ain’t no kinda good.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First and foremost, I
thank God for my gifts and for allowing me to live my word-passion for eleven
years. My seventh grade English teacher was right!
I wanted to write a
book that my sons, in particular, could enjoy: a family novel with parents,
grandparents, kids, pets, God, love, life, sports, faith, and drama. I believe
I’ve achieved that with
HOT GIRLZ
: the
HOT BOYZ
Sequel.
A major thank you to
my children – Adam, Ron, Nicole, and my son-in-law, Darrien - you all make me
so proud. Forever love!
To the grand ones
whom I’d give my life for - my grandchildren, DAJ, ASJ, AIW. You each light up
my life! And grand kisses and to my Guap-puppy, who the Wilson’s dog, Nadia,
was mirrored after!
To my brother Greg
and his beautiful family, and to each and every one of my beloved friends –
thank you!
To my KP, my biggest
supporter who lends me his ear over and over again whether I’m happy or
frustrated or experiencing writer’s block. I love you!
My dear author
friends - there are far too many to name – this includes my fellow Georgia
Peach and Novel Spaces authors. I cherish the shop-talk and camaraderie and say
to you all, write on!
To the editor of five
of my titles, Karen Thomas, for acknowledging my talent years ago and believing
in me. I owe so much to you. You are appreciated!
My agent, Andrew
Stuart, I am thankful for your expertise and pep-talks. And Latoya Smith, my
editor at Hachette Books - you are amazing.
MM - you are my
sister and my rock!
