How could he possibly think she wouldn’t be on board with that? “That’s absolutely fine by me.”

He raised his eyebrows, but the glint was evident in his blue eyes. “It means that you’ll have to relinquish your former bad girl ways.”

“Also absolutely fine. In fact, it sounds perfect. My days of choosing the wrong man are well and truly over.”

And as she moved into his kiss, she knew she’d never spoken a truer word.

Epilogue

Mitch frowned. “Are you sure about this?”

Gina sidled closer to him from where they sat in the bar at Jake Malone’s club. “If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t have suggested it. This way, we can test things out before we go ahead and purchase anything for our own very personal use.”

His frown deepened. “That’s not what I meant.”

“I know.” Gina sipped her wine, her stomach fluttering. She wasn’t entirely sure if it was the way Mitch looked at her—a mixture of desire and concern—or the thought of what lay in store. “I’m fine with it. And it’s not as if we haven’t indulged since we got engaged. You’ve tied me up, spanked me even, and I didn’t freak, did I?”

“Shh.” Mitch took a furtive glance around the bar and the handful of couples enjoying a drink. Gina had to bite her lip to stop from smiling at his discomfort. “This is an entirely different thing, and you know it. It’s different in the privacy of our bedroom, but here?”

He took another look around the bar. Gina leaned forward and laid her hand over where his rested on his thigh. “That’s really the point. I’ve felt secure in our bedroom, but now I want to prove to myself, and you, that I’m okay wherever we are. I trust you, Mitch. It doesn’t matter if we’re in our bedroom or at a BDSM club. I know you’d never do anything to hurt me.”

He turned his hand and linked their fingers. “I just don’t want this to be a step too far, too soon. We don’t need to do it.”

She squeezed his hand and touched her lips to his. “I need to do it. It’s sort of like closure. What we share is amazing, and I don’t want there ever to be any barriers, any bad memories. I want to do everything with you, Mitch. I want to enjoy everything with you. This is my way of putting the past to rest once and for all.”

“Okay.” But he still didn’t look convinced. He tipped back the last of his wine. “I’ve got the key for when you’re ready.”

She finished her wine. “I’m ready.”

Hand in hand, they walked from the bar and along a dimly lit corridor. Gina glanced up. “You look as if you’re heading for the firing squad.” She grinned. “If you squeeze my hand any harder, it won’t be fit for much of anything.”

His mouth quirked. “We decided—or should I say,
you
decided—that you were going to take a submissive role tonight. The way that plays out for me is that I’ll be the one using my hands.”

Her pulse quickened. “And you use them so well.”

He stopped at a doorway along on the right and wrapped his fingers around her arm. “Nobody can see us, okay? This is a private room and we’re completely alone.”

“I know. Stop worrying.”

He ushered her into a windowless square room that was dominated by a giant four-poster bed furnished with dark blue satin sheets. At the foot of the bed stood a red velvet cushioned ottoman, and along one wall was a walnut chest that obviously contained those items to accompany the evening’s entertainment. A nervous tremor pushed through her, and she couldn’t quite stop herself from taking a quick glance around the room, at the ceiling. Spotting nothing of concern, she let out a sigh.

At the click of a key turning, she looked over her shoulder and saw Mitch locking the door. He popped the key on a side table, then slipped his hands in his pockets before facing her. “We need to agree on a safe word.”

“We never have before.” Strange how she seemed to be the one putting him at ease, regardless that her stomach was in freefall.

“Well we do tonight. If there’s anything you feel even remotely uncomfortable with—”

“I’ll say the word,” she assured him quickly. “How about bunting? It just came into my head,” she said when he raised his eyebrows. “Will that do?”

“Bunting it is.” He went to the walnut chest and lifted the lid. “You want to come over here and take a look?”

She did, but for some reason her feet wouldn’t move. “You choose. I’m the submissive, remember?”

He rummaged around for what seemed like minutes, then pulled out handcuffs and a paddle.

Gina swallowed. “Is that it?”

Holding the implements, Mitch glanced over to her. “Come here. I want you to see this.” When she still hesitated, he feigned a frown. “As my submissive, you need to do as I say.”

She went to stand next to him and peered into the chest. “Hell. There’s just about everything in here. Rope, collars, chains, wrist and ankle restraints, nipple clamps, blindfolds. Do you want to blindfold me?”

He met her gaze. “I want to do just about every fucking thing to you. But let’s take it slow, easy. Okay?”

She nodded. Over the past few months, they’d built up to bondage play. Mitch never brought it up, but Gina knew her total freak-out in Paris stood like a barrier between them. At her request, Mitch had slowly, and oh so gently, introduced restraints. At first, he’d insisted she tie him up and have her way with him. Then they’d progressed to Gina having one wrist restrained, then both. She’d experienced a flutter of nerves, but had wanted to submit to Mitch. She didn’t want there to be anything between them. She loved him, trusted him with all her heart. She continually told him, but wanted to show him too.

Gina knew she had conquered her phobia of bondage when she allowed Mitch to tie her ankles. Again, first one and then both. The initial nerves soon disappeared. She hadn’t realized how being truly
taken
by him, by submitting to his brute strength and dominance felt so primal, so exciting and freeing.

It was after this particularly memorable night she’d suggested a night at Jake Malone’s club. She’d met Jake a few times and liked him immensely. It was evident that Mitch trusted him, and that was enough for her.

Now, as she stood next to Mitch and looked into his amazing blue eyes, she knew there was not a thing she wouldn’t allow him to do to her.

With that realization, she stepped back and slipped the shoulder straps of her dress. The simple shift pooled around her waist before falling to the ground. She’d chosen to go braless, so she stood before him in a black lace thong and strappy black heeled sandals.

His heated gaze swept over her, and she felt her nipples pebble and her breasts swell. “Choose anything you like from there,” she said with a nod toward the chest. “Anything.”

He shrugged out of his jacket and threw it to the floor. Next came his shirt. His chest, always amazing, looked especially sexy in the soft lighting and she ached to spread her hands over its heated expanse and feel the play of those delicious muscles.

“Turn around,” he commanded, stepping toward her and holding a leather strap.

When she did, he came up close behind her and pressed his chest to her back. His lips brushed her neck, his breath whispering along the sensitive flesh. He drew her arms back, elbows bent, and secured the strap lightly around her upper arms. “Okay?”

She nodded, enjoying the feel of his mouth against her neck. In this position, her breasts were thrust forward and, when he cupped them, she dropped her head back against his shoulder.

His thumbs brushed over her nipples, his warm hands supporting the heavy weight of her breasts. Slowly, he turned her around to face him, then dropped to his knees in front of her. He gripped the sides of her thong and slowly drew it down her legs.

“Step out,” Mitch ordered.

She did so, her pussy throbbing inches from his mouth.

“Now open your legs.”

When she did, he spread her and pushed the pads of his thumbs against her heated flesh. Leaning forward, he touched the tip of his tongue to her slick folds. Her knees almost buckled and she let out a strangled moan when he pushed deeper.

Helpless, disorientated, she gave herself up to sensation. She felt an orgasm build but he suddenly withdrew.

He stood, spun her around and untied the strap. Hands freed, she faced him and reached for his zipper. He brushed her hand away. “Lay on the bed.”

A shiver of anticipation and excitement ran through her. This wasn’t the first time he’d played the dominant or the first time she’d played submissive, and they’d certainly enjoyed pretty rough make-up sex after a stupid disagreement or two. Then there was the time he’d turned caveman after they’d both imbibed too much wine at a friend’s wedding, during which she’d spent the majority of the evening taunting him.

She loved this side of Mitch. Truth was, she loved every side of Mitch. Because of that, and because she trusted him with all her heart, she could let go of all the fears and anxieties that had kept a tenuous barrier between them in the bedroom.

She went to lay on the bed, hot need shimmering through her body as he came to join her. Smiling, she reached out and fisted the bed posts, then spread her legs so that her feet were pointing down to the posts at the bottom. Spread eagled, she watched Mitch’s eyes darken with lust…but there was still that glimmer of concern that was never far away when they played a little rough.

He opened his mouth to speak, and she knew he was about to ask her if she was really okay with what they were about to do.

“I love you, Mitch.”

That stopped him in his tracks, and after long moments he returned her smile. “I love you, sweetheart.”

Her heart swelled as it always did when he told her he loved her. It was time to finally put everything in the past where it belonged. Time to move forward and embrace everything wonderful that being with Mitch promised.

“Then show me. Let me show you.” Still with her hands around the bed posts, she held his steady gaze. She wanted him to see how much she loved him, trusted him. She never wanted him to doubt it. Ever.

He stepped away to the chest and returned seconds later with leather restraints. Watching her, he knelt between her legs and placed the ties beside them on the bed.

With his hands on either side of her ribcage, he leaned down and kissed her. His mouth felt hot, but his touch was feather light. He teased her lower lip, kissed along her jaw, down her throat.

When he looked back at her, she reached out her hand and touched his cheek. She so desperately wanted to obliterate that concerned look he still wore.

“Tonight is about us, Mitch. You and me.” She slipped her hand into his hair and glanced down at the restraints. “When you use those, you’ll break the final tie to the past. You’ll destroy the last bad memory.”

He caught hold of her hand and turned her palm to press a kiss there. “I’ll never hurt you, sweetheart.”

“I know that.” She reached her arm out to the post again. “Are you ready to play now?”

In response, he reached for the first tie, his sexy grin warming her heart.

He wrapped the leather around her wrist, but she felt no fear, only desire. He kissed down her restrained arm, along her shoulder, her neck. Then down to her breast, where he tortured her nipple until she squirmed with need.

By the time the second strap folded around her wrist, her whole body throbbed for release. Mitch touched his mouth to her heated flesh, pressing hot kisses down the length of her arm, over her breast and then down across her abdomen. When his mouth claimed her core, she almost sobbed his name.

The orgasm hit her with sudden intensity, exploding through her body like a starburst. She couldn’t catch her breath, couldn’t stop the thundering of her heart. It felt like too much to hold inside her, too much love to contain.

Her body went lax, and she pulled in steadying breaths. Mitch pressed a kiss to her mound, gentle and light, then across her belly and up to her breasts.

“Mitch?”

Anchoring himself on his elbows, he looked down at her. “What sweetheart?”

“Are you going to take your pants off any time soon?”

He grinned as she did, then stood and reached for his zipper.

It was amazing how each time she saw him naked, she marveled even more at his spectacular physique. At the muscular chest with its sprinkling of dark hair, the toned abdominals, powerful thighs.

She marveled even more that by living through a nightmare, she had been given a precious gift.

A gift of love.

Hollywood actress Heather Wainwright was looking forward to a long, relaxing break before starting her next shoot. Except her assistant volunteered her for L.A.’s annual 24 Hour Plays.

Nervous about doing a good job for such a worthy charity, Heather falls back on “diva” mode, a defense mechanism that always carries her through. Until she encounters something that
really
gets on her nerves—a lowly carpenter whose Norse god eyes pierce right through her.

Highly sought-after production designer Seth Rafferty has little patience for A-listers with superior attitudes, which is why his attraction to Heather is absurd. Yet, sensing vulnerability beneath her screen-queen act, he lets her assumptions play out.

After the wrap party, Heather awakens with little memory of the night before—except that Seth gave her the best orgasm of her life, then disappeared. When he shows up on the set of her next movie, she winds up to give him a piece of her mind…and Seth shows her just how stinging hot “chemistry” can get.

Warning: Contains an outwardly snobby actress with a good heart, a delicious carpenter with a power drill, some much-deserved spanking, and an appropriately consensual—if tipsy—orgasm, as well as sex at an inappropriate time of the month.
