This book is dedicated to all the people who have left us too early.

As some of you may know, I lost my one-year niece when I finished – Book #2, Love, Lies, and Hurt trilogy.

That was a very bad time for me, and I wasn’t coping very well.

As a way of therapy, I wrote some things down, and as a result some parts of this book is real life.

I'm laid on the sofa with a large glass of dry white, Pinot Grigio, answering the questions that are being asked on a quiz show on the TV. It’s a boring Friday night, and I am having a quiet night, ahead of a nerve wrecking day tomorrow. I’m hoping the wine will help me relax, but I must remember not to get drunk. I am relaxing in my tank top, and shorts. Nothing beats a bit of lounging in front of the TV in the comfort of your own home. I look around my sparse surroundings, and I feel pride at what I have achieved. My walls are an off white color, besides the main feature wall. On the main wall, behind my wall mounted television I have a beautiful black, silver, and pink wall paper. My white sofa fits in perfectly with my décor. I have a black, glass coffee table in the middle of the floor, and on the wall to the right I have some black book shelves, and on the top I have a vase of pink and white flowers.

My dining area is open plan, and the décor matches my living area. A black table with a white runner, and the big high back chairs are white. The center piece on the table is a white and pink candle collection. I like my décor to match, so I have almost the same throughout my home. I love the way the black and white contrast against each other, and the pink gives it a bit more life.

I turn my attention back to the TV, as the man on the show has answered a question incorrect, and I start shouting the correct answer at the TV like he is supposed to hear me.

After my second glass of wine, Grace walks in, and throws herself on the sofa beside me. She has a habit of doing this if she has something on my mind.

“Well, hello to you too.” I say sarcastically, as I turn and look at her. She looks at me and blows her brunette locks off her face. I smile at her dramatic entrance.

“It’s being a long day Rhi, any of that going?” she asks pointing to my now empty glass.

“Actually, there is, but only if you promise to tell me what’s eating you up.” I inform her. I know she will feed me the information she’s holding in, but I like her to know I’m interested in what’s hurting her, and that she is not alone.

I push up of the sofa, grab my glass and make my way to the wine cooler to pour us both some. Grace sots where she parked her ass, and just watches me as I move around my kitchen.

After I have filled two glasses, I walk back in and Grace is flicking the TV from channel to channel, just mindless flicking.

“Okay, one wine for Grace, now what’s eating you?” I kindly demand as I surrender her glass.

“It’s not what, but who.” she replies sullenly. I knew it was him.

“He is a jerk Grace, why do you put up with it?” I ask sipping my wine slowly.

“You know why Rhi, I can’t just walk away after everything he has done for me.”

“Seriously, you don’t owe him your life though Grace. So he has given you a roof over your head, got you back on your feet, that does not mean he owns you.” I tell her the same thing I have told her time and time again.

“Just drop it please, I am not talking about Jake now. Are you ready for tomorrow?” she asks changing topic of conversation. Great – turn it back to me why don’t you, something she always does if the conversation is getting too deep for her.

“No, and I'm not sure I want to do this Grace.” I reply sullenly. I still haven’t decided if I want to take this path or not. It was her idea, because none of mine were working out for me, and I’m close to losing everything I own.

“Rhi, you can’t not go.” she says her voice harsh.

“Grace, you know this isn’t something I wanted to do.” I explain to her – again.

“Rhiannon, nothing else is working for you. You have to do this.”

“I don’t know. I am scared.” I admit to her.

“I know, I’m scared too.”

“Why are you scared?” I ask her.

“Rhiannon, you are slowly losing everything you have worked for. I can’t sit and watch you lose it all. This is why I submitted the application form for you. Its either you lose what you have, or you go to your mum, and I don’t want to lose you.” she whispers sadly.

“I know Grace; I guess I never looked at it like that. I suppose I can see how it goes.” I say sadly knowing she has hit a nerve in me. Losing everything I have is worse than doing this job interview.

“You know I will be waiting for you when you finish. I can’t miss out on all the gossip,” she laughs as she takes a swig of her wine.

“Grace, you know I will tell you everything.”

“I know; I was just making sure.”

After the conversation is out the way, we relax and enjoy our wine.

*****

Saturday morning finally comes, as much as I was trying to hope it would never come. I wake up, after a few hours of restless sleep, nerves keeping me awake most of the night. I am afraid of what today is going to have in-store for me. My future here actually depends on today.

I sit up and look round my surroundings. I'm laid in my bedroom, which I already knew, but if today doesn’t go well, I won’t be here for long. My savings are running low, and I got made redundant from my last job three months ago. I have tried looking everywhere for a job, but no one is taking on. This is my last shot at rescuing my screwed up life.

Today I have a job interview, and I am so nervous. I don’t know what to expect. I don’t seem to be having much good luck lately, and It’s not every day I have an interview like this. In the past few weeks, I have had my fair share of interviews, but this is in a whole different league. I tried so hard not to take this, but Grace kept going on about it. It wasn’t till I realized I had enough savings left to cover another month’s rent, and bills, that I had to look into it some more. I really can’t lose my home, its take it or give up and move to my parents, and I don’t want that. I look around my bedroom again and feel my self getting a little emotional. The silver framed photos I have, all turn blurry against my duck-egg blue walls, as my eyes fill with un-shed tears. How did I get in this predicament?....... Oh yes, the company I worked for went bust, and I lost everything. My family are the other side of the world, they live in Atlanta, Georgia, so it’s not a case of a quick car journey away. When they retired they moved there. They offered me to go with them, but my friends and job was here. I wanted to prove to them I could do it alone. I have done it for five years, I am not going running to them now. I only have one option left, I have to attend this interview today, and pray I get the job.
