Because he loved her.
Because he was hers.
And she belonged to him.

Her orgasm started the second he began to pull out until only the tip of his cock remained in her body.

She ached for him to thrust back in, needed him to make her come. Or she would simply hang on the edge.

“Kyle.”

He thrust back in, a little harder this time before pulling back and holding.

“Yes, Tam.
Come.”

And she did as he pulled her back down onto his cock, burying himself to the balls as she cried out and shuddered around him.

Her body arched into him to take more and his hips powered into her, thrusting until she felt him pump his seed deep inside her. No condom, just a fiery wetness that took her breath away.

After minutes just absorbing his heat into her body, she let her body relax into him, knowing he’d hold her there as long as she needed or wanted.

“I love you too, sweetheart,” he whispered in her ear.

She smiled. “I know.”

Epilogue

Nic watched from across the room as Dan led Tira away from the party and through the back door of the lodge.

He let them get a head start, because he was pretty sure he knew where Dan was taking her,
then
headed for the door himself.

He stopped on the edge of the back porch, his jaw set as he watched Dan and Tira disappear down the path into the woods. Headed toward the cabin where they were holding the two men who’d tried to kidnap
Tamra
three days ago.

Fuck
. He was right.

“You should go be with her.” Duke’s voice came from behind, so low Nic knew no one but
him
would hear it.

“You know I can’t.” Nic looked over his shoulder at his best friend. “But you can.”

Duke shook his head. “No. She won’t want me there.”

“Bullshit.”

“Yeah, fuck you too.”

Nic sighed, knowing neither of them would give an inch. Knowing Tira wouldn’t want either one of them to be there with her.

She’d made that perfectly clear the last time they’d seen her.

“I can’t be with you again.
Either of you.
It’s too much. Please, don’t push this.”

He and Duke had agreed to let her go. She’d been so devastated.
In so much pain.

Now, though, he had to make sure she was…what?

Safe?

He knew Dan wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

Still…

Nic stepped off the porch and headed for the cabin.

No, she wouldn’t want him there but then she didn’t have to know he was there.

About halfway down the path, Duke caught up.

Knowing each other as well as they did, they didn’t need to speak to know what the other was doing.

They reached the windowless cabin in minutes, but instead of going through the front door, they went around back to the hidden exit. Nodding to the guard on duty, they slipped into the back room of the three-room cabin.

There was no furniture in the observation area, only a small window of one-way glass that looked into the middle room of the cabin. The one where two men sat chained to iron chairs.

One remained unconscious.

The other stared straight up into
Tira’s
eyes as she stood in front of him, touching the bare skin of his arm.

Her beautiful face held that slack expression that meant she was reading the man, looking into his future, trying to see who he was working for.

He’d seen her do it before. Up close and personal.

The memory was enough to shred his guts.

Behind him, Duke stiffened like a board, almost like he was straining against some unseen force holding him in place.

God, they were fucked up—Duke, Tira and him.

Nic wanted to go in there and grab her away from that
eteri
who she willingly put her hands on. Something she wouldn’t do with Nic. The one time she had, her vision of his future had made her break down into a sobbing mess.

Nic still cringed to remember the sound of her weeping after more than seven years.

And Duke refused to touch her, because Duke thought it would cut out Nic’s heart to know he could have her and Nic couldn’t.

Duke didn’t know as much as he thought he did but Duke refused to talk about Tira. He refused to even consider—

Tira started to scream, so loudly they could hear it through the walls.

Without thought, they ran through the short hall to the door that led into that small room and burst through.

The man she’d read had slumped over in his chair, passed out.

Tira lay on the floor, curled into a ball in her red silk dress, her sobs tearing out his heart. Dan knelt beside her, calling her name.

But Nic knew she didn’t hear him. She was locked inside whatever vision she’d seen of that man’s future.

Heart pounding in his ears, Nic skidded to a stop, wanting to pick her up and hold her. Enraged to know he couldn’t.

“Duke!
Get her the hell out of here.” Dan jumped up to start CPR on the prisoner.

Nic turned to see his best friend hesitate for two seconds before stepping forward and scooping Tira into his arms.

They ran back to the lodge, burst through the back door and headed for the suite they shared on the second floor. Nic threw open the door a second before Duke ran through, headed for his bedroom.

There, Nic watched Duke
lay
the woman they both loved on the comforter.

Tira’s
head thrashed back and forth, as if she
were
trying to escape some horrifying image, and she muttered words Nic had to lean closer to hear.

“Dead.
Gone.
Blessed Goddess, please.
No.”

“Shit, Nic—”

“Snap her out of it, Duke.
Now.”

Again, Duke hesitated before he grabbed her shoulders and shook her. “Tira, come on, sweetheart. Come out of it. Come back, baby. We’re right here. Don’t do this to us again.”

As if Duke’s voice had triggered something,
Tira’s
eyes flew open and she stared straight into Duke’s eyes.

“Tira, wha—”

She started to sob.

About the Author

Stephanie Julian is an avid reader who used to have a book-a-day habit. Then she realized she not only wanted to read books but write them too. Romance has always been her first love, the sexier the better. Hot men, strong women and a heaping helping of magic dominate (and she does mean
dominate
) her blazing hot stories.

When she’s not writing, she’s, well…she’s certainly not cleaning. And she only cooks when her guys complain that they’re hungry (
ain’t
cereal grand!). Otherwise, she’s got her fingers on a keyboard, her butt in a chair and her head in the stars.
