He fanned through the pages, his brow furrowed as he concentrated. She had done her homework, included spread sheets for food and alcohol, each employee’s wages, utilities, miscellaneous costs and taxes etcetera. Everything was outlines meticulously and the asking price was highlighted on the papers in bright pink.

“Are you opposed to a private sale, we can forgo real-estate fees and use my lawyers.”

“You have lawyers, yeah right.” Mason scoffed.

“Five actually,” Landon stated deadpan.

Mikala narrowed her brow and slapped his arm. “You’re full of shit.”

Clearing his throat, Landon took his phone from his pocket and dialed as Mason and Mikala looked on, disbelieving.

“Hello Darius…this is Roberto Liberatore.” Landon gazed their way briefly, watching their eyes bug out of their heads, then continued. “I’m very well thanks…I was wondering if we could prepare a money transfer in the next few days, there’s a business I’m interested in purchasing. I need the team to make this happen as seamlessly as possible. I want the seller to have the full asking price without fees or headaches, she has enough to worry about she’s a new mom. I’ll fax you the information later today…thanks Darius.”

Mason and Mikala stared at him without a word, he could see the reservation on their faces. Landon smiled and shrugged his shoulders knowing he had some fancy explaining to do.

“Roberto Liberatore? What the fuck Lando?” Mason asked, with a vexed look.

He explained everything. Who he was, why he kept it a secret for so long and they seemed to truly understand.

“I like being plain old Landon Kyle, I’m not judged by what I have, but who I am.”

“Does Carl know?” Mikala asked.

“Yeah he knows,” Landon gave a reminiscent smile and laughed, “and he loves me anyway.”

They shared a laugh, Mason slapped him on the shoulder, the manly thing to do and Mikala moved behind him and gave him a back hug.

“We love you too,” she whispered, in his ear. “Just the way you are.”

“Do we have a deal, Princess?” Landon asked, offering his hand.

“If you’re sure,” Mikala asked. “Hang on, wedding gift? When’s the wedding?”

“I’m going to take care of the details tonight, just do me a favor and keep everything under wraps, I don’t want him finding out until
after
we say I do.”

“Our lips are sealed,” Mason assured him with a rough handshake.

“It’s a deal, I’m not saying a thing…can I be a bridesmaid?” they laughed and Emma let out a cry that would wake the dead.

“Holy shit, Sweat Pea, you got a healthy set of lungs on you,” Landon said, swooping her up and whispering into her face. “Feeding time baby gi…ugh!”

“Not so sweet anymore is she?” Mikala laughed, reaching out to take Emma for a diaper change.

“Uncle Landon’s got this, we’re all good, right baby girl?” he cooed.

He sauntered off up the stairs humming as if he were the happiest man on earth, not a man about to change a lethal dirty diaper.

Mikala sat beside Mason on the sofa and wove her hand in his. “Our Lando is Roberto Liberatore. Never in a million years would I have pegged him as one of the richest men in Boston.”

“One of the richest men in the world and he works for you as a bouncer,” Mason howled.

“If I had known, he wouldn’t have got that last raise.” Mikala scowled.

Emma’s cries echoed through the baby monitor on the side table, Mikala was about to turn it off when she heard Landon softly singing and Emma’s cries immediately stopped.

“Momma’s gonna buy you a mocking bird, and if that mocking bird don’t sing, Uncle Landon’s gonna buy you a diamond ring,” he snickered. “And a can of air freshener, cause Sweat Pea, you is ripe!”

They laughed listening to Landon’s silly antics.

“Are you coming to my wedding little one?” he asked. “You can be the flower girl…Your world’s going to be a bit different from most of your friends. I hope you can handle that. You might get teased because you have two gay uncles but don’t sweat it because people can be really ignorant about things they don’t understand. No matter what people like and dislike, or what color their skin is or what they believe in, everyone deserves to be loved and accepted and happy. I’m going to make sure you know this Sweat Pea…There, someone smells much better now.”

Landon laughed. “I love you to the moon and back little one…let’s go see mommy.”

Neither Mikala nor Mason let on that they heard him as he came into the room all smiles. He handed Emma off to Mason and hugged Mikala, then rolled up the papers into a tube and smacked them into the palm of his hand.

“I’ll get these sent off to my lawyers this afternoon and have a cheque issued ASAP.” Landon wiggled his brow, “Wish me luck, tonight me and Carl are setting a date.”

“I can’t wait,” Mikala said, in a state of giddiness. “Will it be a big wedding with all the frills and bows?”

Landon shrugged. “I don’t care as long as the end result is Carl saying I do. I’m going to let him decide.”

“Hey,” Mason Interrupted. “How do you decide on a last name? You’re not going to hyphenate them and be like Kyle-Ward or Ward-Kyle are you?”

“I can see it now, Mr. Roberto Landon Kyle Liberatore Ward and Mr. Carlton Ward Kyle Liberatore, gees that’s a mouthful,” Mikala joked.

“I never thought about it, we’ll see, Carl may not want to take my name, I may not want his.”

Mikala scowled. “You have to take each other’s names.”

“We’ll see,” Landon gave her a kiss on the cheek, gave Emma a kiss on the forehead and shook Mason’s hand.

“Gotta go, I’ll be in touch soon,” Landon said, racing out the door before Mikala started planning out the reception seating arrangements and food choices for the dinner.

TWENTY-ONE

“I have the all-time 80’s classic right here,” Carl held up a DVD.

“Caddy Shack, are you kidding?” Landon asked, pooh-poohing Carl’s suggestion, holding up his own DVD. “Ghost Busters, now that’s a classic 80’s movie.

Once a week they set aside a few hours for movie night. This week just happened to be classic 80’s night. Last week was 90’s night and to Landon’s chagrin, the movie turned out to be Pretty Woman because Carl thought Richard Geer was sex on wheels. Landon didn’t really mind, since he ended up giving Carl a blowjob part way through, which turned into some fabulous sex after the movie.

“Do you really care what we watch?”

“What do you mean?”

“You’ll be too busy trying to get into my pants thirty minutes into it,” Carl sneered, tossing his DVD onto the coffee table.

“Excuse me?” Landon mocked an offended look. “Twenty minutes at the most, thank you very much.”

“You’re such a pig.”

“Yes I am,” Landon oinked, wrapping his arms around Carl’s waist and pulling him close. “Let’s skip the movie for now, I want to talk.”

“Uh oh, this can’t be good, you’re skipping classic movie night to talk?”

“It’s important.”

“Jesus, now you really have me worried,” Carl gulped, his heart started to race.

“Get the wine from the fridge, I’ll get the glasses and meet me on the roof,” Landon ordered with a wink. “Nothing bad ever happens on the roof.”

Carl felt a bit better about what was possibly coming. It was true; all the time spent on the rooftop to date had been amazing. They cuddled under the stars, made love until dawn and had fantastic impromptu picnics. He was very happy that Mason had built the rooftop terrace for Mikala, because he and Landon enjoyed it more than any other part of the apartment.

He scaled the ladder and popped his head up to see that Landon had turned on the many strings of fairy-lights and lit a few candles in mason jars and set them around. Landon was grinning mischievously from his position on the paillasse surrounded by a down filled comforter and a multitude of pillows.

Carl wasted no time joining him.

“So I have a question,” Landon said, filling their wine glasses, handing one to Carl as his brows slowly knit together. “Relax, Babes, it’s all good.”

Passing a small desk size calendar to Carl, Landon watched for a reaction. The twenty first was circled in bright red marker and the words
yes or no
were written within it. Carl tilted his head in question and took a sip from his glass.

“What are you asking me, Ace?”

“Is that a good day for you?”

“I have it off, if that’s what you’re asking,”

“Is it a good day to get hitched?”

Carl Beamed. “It’s an excellent day to get hitched, Mr. Kyle.”

“Question two,” Landon laughed at the bemused look on Carl’s face. “Names, will you take mine?”

“Which one?”

“Liberatore of course.”

“You don’t use that name.”

“I think the time has come to stop hiding from who I really am,” Landon admitted. “I’ve been running away from something I can’t outrun, I’m exhausted.”

Carl laughed, snuggling closer.

Landon shrugged. “So I have a few bucks, it doesn’t change who I am, I’m still me.”

Carl ran his thumb down Landon’s cheek. “You’ll always be Lando the incredible hunk to me, the irritating smart ass…that I’m head over heels in love with…the twenty first it is.”

“Question three,” Landon leaned in and licked the shell of his ear. “You want it big or small?”

“We both know there’s nothing small about you, Ace.”

“Ass,” Landon raised his brows and dipped his chin. “Do you want a big elaborate affair costing mega bucks or small intimate affair with one hell of a party at the club afterwards? And remember either way, money is no object. I want this to be our day, the way
we
want it.”

The smile on Carl’s face could not be matched by any other Landon had ever seen on his sweet face. It was laced with happy excitement and eagerness as he sat up on his knees and looked up at the stars.

“Can’t we do both?” he asked. “We could get married in the
Common,
just our closest friends and family,” he stopped, dropping his eyes to his wine glass.

“What’s wrong?” Landon asked, concerned with his sudden sadness.

“Family,” he jeered. “I don’t have family, well no one that wants me as family anyway.”

Holding his hand to Carl’s cheek, Landon smiled into his face. “You have me…and Mik, and Mason, Chase, Eden and Emma, as well as a ton of friends who love you…you’ll have my family, I want you to meet my mom, she’s going to love you too.”

“You’re right,” Carl agreed, even though it still hurt that his parents wouldn’t be there for his big day. “I can’t wait to meet your mom.”

“Tell me more, wedding in the park, then what?” Landon encouraged him.

“We party, we’ll find a nice venue, I don’t want to put Mik out, it would be a huge revenue loss for her on a Saturday night,” Carl said, ever the business man.

“That’s the one option you don’t have, Babes, the receptions going to be at
Pulse.
It’s where I met you, it’s where I pursued you and it’s where I fell in love with you. And it’s where we’re going to have our first dance and then later it’s where I’m going to make love to you for the first time as a married couple,” Landon assured him in no uncertain terms.

“Yes sir,” Carl saluted, as Landon leapt at him, knocking him onto his back.

“Feel that?” Landon growled, rubbing his arousal against Carl’s thigh.

“Mmm…”

“Roll over, I’m going to make you mine, all mine,” Landon whispered against his lips.

While Carl maneuvered onto his stomach and tossed the pillows to the floor, Landon snatched the lube from the ledge and popped open the top. He streamed a generous amount along the crack of Carl’s ass and then worked it in with his fingers, pushing two fingers into him as Carl moaned.

“Tonight’s the night I feel you with nothing between us,” Landon told him, then licked the back of his neck as he fed the head of his cock between his cheeks and pushed into him. “Fuck!”

“Sweet Jesus,” Carl cried out.

“You feel so good,” Landon panted as he stroked in and out lazily. “So hot, I never knew it would feel this fucking hot.”

His rhythm increased as he put his full weight on Carl’s back and spread Carl’s arms out to the side, weaving their fingers together and growling into his ear as he pushed deeper. Carl grunted each time Landon hit his sweet spot and lifted his hips to match Landon’s tempo.

“Ace, I’m not gonna make it,” Carl murmured.

“I’m not going to last much longer myself,” Landon groaned. “You have no fucking idea how amazing this feels…uh!”

A thin layer of perspiration allowed Landon to glide along Carl’s back, making each stroke the full length of his cock, from base to the bulbous head. The feeling was more than he had ever imagined it would be, warm and wet and all his. Landon was completely lost in him, in the moment and the sensation.

“I love you,” Carl panted, turning his head so their lips touched at the corner. “I’m going to cum, holy fuck, I’m cumming.”

He felt his ejaculation soak the sheet beneath him as he let out a loud, “Oh fuuuck!”

“Oh fuck yeah,” Landon yelled into his ear as he shot his load into Carl, holding his hips tight as he filled him. “A-fucking-mazing,”

He pulled out and rolled onto his side, caressing his finger up and down Carl’s back drawing swirls in the dampness of his skin.

“Look ma no hands,” Carl laughed. “How the fuck is that even possible?”

“Prostate, Babes,” Landon kissed his shoulder. “That was fucking phenomenal.”

“It was that,” Carl agreed.

“You know what this means?” Landon whispered, propping himself on his elbow and turning Carl’s chin. “I own you now, every part of you is mine and only mine. Forever.”

“Yes sir!” Carl kissed him hard.

“Let’s go inside and make wedding plans. We don’t have a lot of time. I’m thinking Kelleher Rose Garden for the ceremony.”

“You’re a big softy Mr. Kyle, you are a hopeless romantic and I love you.”

“I love you more, Babes.”

***

“Hello. Is this Mrs. Ward?” he waited for confirmation before continuing.

“My name is Landon Kyle I’m…a friend of Carl’s. I think we should talk.”
