“You’re content because you’ve had your revenge?”

“I’m content because it’s all over now and I can get on with my life again.”

“The gold never interested you one bit?”

“Not in the slightest.”

“Isn’t the salvage money not in the same category?”

“Not at all, I earned that by risking my life to bring those murdering bastards to justice. Now I don’t want to hear anymore about it.”

For a moment my eyes left Shayna. I’d caught sight of Morgan and Hamer, both handcuffed and each man being manhandled into the rear of separate Garda vehicles. I watched the motorcade leave. Strangely, I imagined Hamer, sitting there quietly in the rear of the police car, plotting and mentally sharpening his knife in the desperate hope he could still silence me forever.
