I wonder how many humans know about the paranormal,
she thought as she brushed her teeth and put on some makeup.
Probably not a whole lot, but I wonder why the ones that do keep it a secret?

She definitely wasn’t going to tell anyone about the things she had learned, but surely somewhere there was an unscrupulous person looking to cash in on his story. Maybe fear of what they learned kept most people quiet. A wolf pack or vampire bearing down on you probably isn’t a fun experience. It wouldn’t be a good way to spend your last few days, in fear of something you don’t understand.

Travis is afraid of something he doesn’t understand right now,
she realized.
He’s never had to face this situation before and he’s facing it alone.

She knew he could have Dario’s help, but he was too damn stubborn to accept the usurper back into the fold. She could help him as far as information and driving goes, but when it came to fighting the wererats she was going to be useless.

The morning rush kept her busy until close to noon. Residents on their way to work in Lawton usually dropped by to get coffee, a newspaper or a breakfast burrito for the drive. Paige never understood how they could stand living so far from work. She’d claw her eyes out if she had to drive that far every day.

After the morning rush things came to a screeching halt and she found herself leaned over the front counter trying to stay awake.

Old Benjamin Watkins was there as usual, mean mugging any young person that walked in and drinking his coffee while reading the newspaper. It was his Monday ritual; he was waiting in the parking lot before she could even get the store open. He would walk in, grumbling that she didn’t have the coffee ready and then tap his fingers loudly waiting for his cup. He never said thank you and then he’d slowly read the newspaper the rest of the morning, glaring at anyone who dared to be under the age of sixty. Finally around noon he’d leave without so much as a nod on his way out the door.

“I don’t know why we let him hang around,” she said to herself as he walked through the front door. “It’s going to be a long day.”

The rest of the day dragged just as badly, until it was time for kids to get out of school. Usually things picked up with the stay-at-home moms dropping in for a caffeine buzz before getting their children, or they came in after school to load their kids up on candy. Either way the hour when she’d actually have something to do was drawing near.

Just before school let out Travis came sauntering through the door, fully dressed and stone faced.

“No luck?” she asked, already knowing the answer.

“Nothing,” he said. “It’s like there are no wererats. I didn’t imagine it all did I?”

“I think I’ve seen a movie like this,” she said. “Maybe you’re schizophrenic and you actually killed your whole pack.”

Travis glared at her, not enjoying the joke.

“Sorry,” she squeaked out.

“Do you have anything to eat?” he asked.

“I have some burritos,” she said, pointing to the case at the front of the store.

“I’ll have five,” he said, making himself comfortable at one of the tables.

“Right away sir!” she said, mock saluting him. In truth she enjoyed waiting on her man; it made her feel like she was actually in a real relationship for once. Randy did everything himself; he always told Paige she didn’t do it right when she tried to help him. It didn’t matter what it was, even a blowjob, she was told she was terrible at it. She smiled thinking again of Travis breaking his bones. Luckily she hadn’t heard anything else, maybe he had returned to Lawton without pressing charges.

She walked over and dropped the burritos in front of Travis. When she turned to head back to the counter he slapped her ass and laughed. She spun around, giving him her best angry look.

“Not at work,” she said, trying not to laugh.

His expression changed to one of anger as he stared at her. It took Paige a moment to realize he wasn’t staring at her; he was staring right past her. She turned to see Dario standing inside the store, a determined look on his face.

“I need to talk to you, alpha,” he said.

“I am not your alpha,” Travis said, sitting back and crossing his arms. “You have no pack.”

“Please talk to me,” he pleaded, not budging from his spot.

Paige spun around, whispering intensely to Travis. “I’m not going to have you getting killed going at it alone. This is a new pack, you can redeem this wolf. He can be an ally against the wererats.”

Travis looked at her, turning her words over in his head before softening his expression. “Very well, let’s talk.”

Paige smiled and went back to the counter as the two wolves began to hash out their differences. She strained from the counter, trying to eavesdrop, but they were speaking in hushed tones. Several times she saw Travis slam his fist on the table and several times she saw Dario lower his head in submission and nod in agreement.

She eventually lost track of their conversation as the after school crowd began pouring in. Pampered mom after pampered mom came through buying chips and a soda. Right after they were finished Billy showed up with the girls.

“Hi Aunt Paige,” Lyric said, looking over the counter and smiling. “I missed you yesterday.”

“I missed you more,” Paige said. “It was quite the adventure.”

“That’s what I heard!” she said, laughing.

She was two years younger than her sister, but she had filled her body out more. Many people mistook Lyric for the older child, a fact that drove Lily insane.

“Did you have fun playing with your friends?” she asked.

“I guess,” she said. “It smells funny over there. They’re a big family and it’s kind of weird, but the house is so big!”

“I know, I’ve picked you up from there before,” Paige said. The Lockharts lived outside of town, farther out than Dario in an old plantation-style mansion. It was strange though, there were no plantations in Oklahoma- they must have just enjoyed the style.

“Yeah daddy let me stay the night there last night,” she said. “I woke up and went to school with Janie, but none of her clothes fit. I had to wear what I wore yesterday.”

“That’s not good,” Paige said.

“Dad’s not really happy about it,” Lyric said.

“I just don’t like those people,” Billy said, walking up to the counter with a case of coke in hand. “We have to get going girls. How are things up here?”

“It’s a carbon copy of every Monday,” she answered.

“Figured as much,” he said. “I’ll see you later little sister.”

“Bye girls,” Paige said, blowing kisses at her nieces.

“Bye Aunt Paige!” they both called, blowing kisses back on their way out.

Seeing those little girls always brought a smile to Paige’s face: she loved them more than she loved herself.

She looked over to the wolves to see if their discussion was still heated. Instead they were both staring at her, an expression of absolute anger on their faces.

“What?” she asked. It looked like they were both going to jump up and attack her at any moment.

“Rats,” Travis growled. “I smell rats.”

“Me too,” Dario said, his expression just as pissed off as Travis’.

“Where?” Paige asked. She felt butterflies gathering in her stomach, were they here?

“Your niece,” Travis said, standing up and walking to the counter. “I smelled them on your niece.”

LOST ALPHA PART 3

Chapter 1

Paige kept changing channels, trying to find something sufficient to watch, something that would drown out the two angry wolves arguing right outside her front door.

“I’m telling you,” Dario said. “We can’t just bust in and kill these people. To the townspeople they’re just normal humans. We can’t go around murdering.”

“I’m an alpha wolf!” Travis said. “Human laws don’t apply to me. I do what I want; these rats deserve to pay for what they did to my pack, to our pack.”

“Now you want me in the pack?” Dario asked.

“If you help me get our land back then of course I will welcome you back into the fold,” Travis said. “We can’t go home until we have the staff; the spirits will ward us off.”

“Do you actually believe that hokey story?” Dario asked. “I think it’s a load of crap.”

“Jacob would not lie about that!” Travis shouted. “How dare you question our pack founder!”

“Oh my god!” Paige said aloud, turning the TV volume up to nearly max levels. Luckily a song came on the TV, completely drowning out the two wolves.

It had been a tense day ever since they had discovered the scent of the wererats on her niece. Travis had wanted to charge into the parking lot and demand answers from her twelve year old niece, Lyric, but Paige had managed to stop him.

“How could I be so stupid?” she asked herself.

Travis had explained to her that wererats all live together in one house, like a big family. The Lockharts were known around town for cramming a huge family into the dilapidated mansion right outside town. She should have realized it the moment he explained wererats to her, it was so obvious now.

Unfortunately things didn’t get any easier when Travis discovered what he had been looking for since he arrived in town. Travis wanted to march right over there and murder them all, luckily Dario was the voice of reason. Listening to the intensity of the argument though, she didn’t know how much longer his reason would last.

The Travis she had made love to the night before was completely gone now, replaced by an angry alpha wolf thirsty for blood. His demeanor was no longer arrogant yet playful, instead he appeared to be on the edge of a breakdown. His eyes were wild and his muscles had remained tense since earlier today. She was afraid he would
shift
and take off at any minute, a fact that scared the shit out of her.

Paige’s life was boring and she felt trapped in her tiny town. Travis had come on the scene like a wild flame that caught her attention. She was all in with the alpha now, ready to be his new alpha mate and restart the pack, but now he might be gone just as quickly as he’d arrived.

The front door slammed hard, rattling the entire trailer. She looked up to see Travis standing in front of her, his chest heaving from the deep breaths he was taking.

“That wolf has no guts!” he said, looking down at her. “None at all!”

“Why do you say that?” she asked, knowing the answer already.

“He wants to play this safe, study them and then move in. I think we need to go make the streets run red with their blood.”

“That’s one idea,” she said, turning off the TV and giving Travis her full attention. “Or you could play it safe.”

“Not you too,” Travis said, his face turning red.

“Of course me too,” she said. “You told me that there’s no way wererats can kill an entire pack unless they were in lunar form. Do you really think two wolves can take out a whole family of rats in lunar form?”

Travis stood there, his face twisting in concentration. She knew he hadn’t considered this fact. He had described lunar form as a twisted amalgamation of man and beast, much more powerful than either man or beast form. Usually shifters could only achieve this form during the full moon, but the rats had figured out a way to do it without the moon.

“You are right,” he finally said. “It would be suicide. I can’t let them get away with it though.”

“You need to calm down,” she said, getting up and walking over to him. “I know you don’t like Dario but he’s been around for a long time. Wisdom isn’t anything to scoff at.”

Travis nodded, not wanting to verbally admit that she was right. He was too proud to think any wolf could help him without being his subordinate. It had been several days since Dario had come into their lives and each day they had a new argument about what to do, never taking any action. She knew it must be frustrating for Travis, he wanted revenge but he knew the dangers of rushing in headfirst. He must have felt powerless right now, a feeling she knew probably drove him insane.

“You see right through me,” he said, smiling at her. “The perfect alpha mate.”

“I’m glad you think so,” she said, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him in for a tight hug.

She felt his hands work around her back, fumbling with the clasp on her bra. As she held him she felt the familiar poke of his enormous manhood against her thigh.

He must be insatiable,
she thought.
All of this going on and he still wants me.

In truth it made her feel like the sexiest woman alive that a hot alpha wolf would be attracted to her luscious curves. As she contemplated that thought she felt her heavy breasts fall out of her bra, her sensitive nipples rubbing against the material and sending shockwaves through her body as he lifted it.

“Again?” she asked.

“Of course,” he said, smiling at her. “You told me I need to calm down.”

She contemplated her earlier words as he fell backwards onto the couch, pulling her down on top of him. She ran her hands over the thick corded muscles that made up his neck and shoulders, her nether region growing warm in the process.

She leaned over, her tongue leaving a warm, wet trail down his neck as she worked to his nipples. He sucked in a deep breath and pinched both of her red buds hard as she bit down on one of his.

Her hips swayed back and forth as she the material of their jeans grinded against each other, their hot sex wanting to come together.  She could feel the power of his cock behind the denim, wanting to escape and ravage her waiting passage.

As she rhythmically grinded back and forth she leaned over, her lips finding their way up and down his thick neck. As she worked her way up and down her tongue darted out slightly, adding a touch of warm wetness to each kiss.

Travis responded by tensing up and reaching around her, his large hands cupping her ample rear. He squeezed hard, causing her to bite down on his neck.

With all of his strength Travis tossed her to the side, leaving her flat on her back on the couch. As he turned to her his orange eyes almost seemed to glow, the animal within him fighting to get to the surface. He let out a short growl as he yanked her pants off and unbuttoned his, revealing the thick rod that she so desperately wanted to explore every inch of her wet hole.
