Ethan grasped one of my hands and shook his head. "No, though I am sure your father will try his best to disinherit you when he sees your husband," he teased.
I snorted. "He will be tempted, but he knows the contract you hold will be accepted by all as a legal-binding document."
"I must admit I look forward to seeing his face when he learns of our marriage," Ethan commented.
My eyes flickered to the door. "My father may believe the marriage, but does the forest accept it?" I pointed out.
"There is still only one way to answer that question," he returned.
Ethan helped me from the bed and together we moved over to the entrance. He opened the door to the quiet night and we listened for the calls of the wolves of contract. Nothing. Just the soft sounds of crickets and frogs. I looked up into Ethan's face, and he down to mine. "It seems I am your wife," I mused.
"And a happier man there never was," he returned.
He wrapped his arms around me and embraced me in a kiss full of passion and his love for me. I returned the compliment and looked forward to my life with this man who was more than a man. He was my husband, my other self, and now we were bound together in a union created by a contract, but held together by love.
