About Tasha Jones

Hey,

I'm Tasha and thank you so much for taking the time to take a read through my book. I'm a young mother of one, with a loving husband, currently living in Jacksonville, and am a big reader. I've decided to turn my love for books into something more, and have started to passionately write more and more. I recently went on a trip to Africa with my fam, and got many ideas for stories on that trip. I also love traveling and cooking and hope it shows in my writing. I really hope you enjoy my writing and I can bring just a tiny bit of joy into your day.

Thanks,

Tasha

About This Book

Chandra and Angela are a struggling single mom and daughter who are always on the move. But when an opportunity arises to work at a country club across the country, despite her current boyfriend trying to hold her back, Chandra packs her things and leaves with her daughter. Love has never worked out for her, and she starts to believe the only true love is the one between a child and a parent.

Keith is a wealthy British lawyer who has been in a loveless marriage for the last several years. After finding out his wife was cheating on him she agrees to a divorce if they give it one last shot and take a vacation at the  country club, at the advice of a marriage counselor.

But when Keith sees a sassy, confidant, and curvy Chandra working at the bar, he falls instantly in love. And when Chandra hears his accent, she starts fantasizing about being with him.

Will these two star crossed lovers scarred by broken hearts come together despite everything working against them?

This hot and steamy BWWM romance is for adult audiences 18+ only

Chapter 1

“Do you actually think that I’m going to move two hundred miles away, just so you can go work at a golf course?”

“It's not a golf course, it's a country club. And yes. Why not? I will make what I make here in a year, in just over three months. You know how my finances are, Dale, I really need this.”

“Well I don’t. I like what I got going on here.”

“Even if that doesn’t include me?” Chandra could see by his face that he had already answered the question. Dale had never liked conflict, but his face was expressive enough that he usually didn’t have to. She was hurt, but she did not really love her boyfriend, even after they had been together for several months. She was more hurt that he didn’t want her than soul crushed from a broken heart. It was more damaging to her pride and ego. There were also the logistics and financials to think of, her daughter being moved again.

It never seemed to end for Chandra and as she looked at him, she realized that maybe the change of getting away would be for the best. She was not going to stress over it, she kept telling herself. Taking calm breaths, she just felt a flood of acceptance for the situation. It came at a good time.

“Fine, Dale. I’m not going to argue anymore. Angela will be home soon. As we are packing up anyways, I will expedite the process and you can have your apartment back, all to yourself”

Chandra was finding it hard to believe that it was over, but she refused to look back. She got in her car and drove to the local UPS store. She grabbed a few more boxes and went back to the place she was coming to dread. Chandra knew that it was Dale that had made the last couple of weeks so painful.

Dale and Chandra had been arguing for most of their relationship. What had started as lust had grown into a relationship when Chandra had needed a place to stay after she was evicted for not being able to pay her rent. It seemed like no matter how much money she made, something would come up and wipe her out. Her daughter’s bout of tuberculosis left her in the hospital for several weeks and Chandra out of job when she got out. That was only one in a string of bad luck in Chandra’s life lately.

She got home before her daughter came home from school. Chandra had Angela years ago with the first love of her life, but things did not last very long. To Chandra, nothing lasted very long. Chandra had been a single mom most of the twelve year old girl’s life, but it had all worked out. She had found strength in her that she did not know she had and as much as she would miss Dale, they would be okay, as long as they had each other.

“So, Chandra, before your kid gets home. Can we talk about who gets what?”

Chandra rolled her eyes. Dale barely had a job and she knew immediately where it was going. After a quick moment of thought on all the storage fees and pain that it would take to put things up for the move, it was just easier and cheaper to give it all to him.

“You can have it all, Dale. I'm just taking what fits in my car and you can have everything else.”

She could tell he was surprised and he actually grinned. Chandra just shook her head and headed off to the room they shared. It was mainly his style and decor with her things stuck in where she could find places to put them. That should have been her first clue, his complete lack of an ability to make room for her. It was now clear that he had just not wanted to. Sighing at her own ignorance, or maybe self-inflicted blindness, Chandra pushed folded clothes into the box open on the bed.

It wasn’t long before Angela was home. Though neither adult said anything, the young teen was perceptive and could feel the tension in the air between them. She waited until she was alone with her mother.

“What happened?”

“We’re just leaving early and without him. All for the best, don’t you think? Be us girls again, on another adventure.”

Angela hugged her mom and though her words were brave, she knew that her mom was hurting. It wasn’t the first time that Chandra had been dumped and Angela knew that she would hide her pain as best she could. She also knew that she would cry late at night when she thought her daughter was sleeping or in the bathroom with the water running in the shower to drown out the sound. They both pretended that it was okay, though Angela did not really care for Dale. He had always been on the verge of rudeness, so she was not too saddened to see him go.

“You know that you deserve better.”

“I know baby.”

“It matters how he treats you and he never has been very nice.”

Chandra shook her head and pushed away the solitary tear that ran down her brown cheek.

“You’re right, baby. How did you get so smart?”
