Eric snarled
and dashed forward into the clearing, only to be knocked off his
feet by a flash of red-brown fur.

Luna snarled
viciously and tore his attacker off him as tooth and claw
clashed.

Eric
immediately recognised it as his cousin Christopher, his Aunt’s son
who Trevor brought along.

Eric leapt to
his feet and latched onto his back leg in an effort to protect
Luna. Christopher howled in pain and spun on him, and Luna took her
chance.

She slammed him
to the ground and stood over him with her teeth bared. Eric leapt
up beside her, snarling, and Christopher whimpered. He was
overpowered; he couldn’t take on two wolves.

“Let’s go!”
Craig shouted, and Eric twisted to see that Craig was in his truck
while Trevor’s son, Liam, lay out cold near it. He wondered
momentarily how he’ knocked him out, but dismissed it and nudged
Luna.

Luna snapped
warningly at Christopher before turning tail and bolting to the
truck as the engine roared to life.

Eric ran
towards the rumbling beast as the headlight burst to life and
blinded him.

He shifted as
he reached the car and swung the door open, allowing Luna to jump
into the middle before sliding in beside her.

“We better get
out of here,” Craig huffed, and Eric noticed the bloody marks that
adorned his naked body.

The truck
skidded in the slush before finding a grip and swinging into the
clearing. Christopher’s howling form was lit up and Craig
cursed.

He was alerting
everyone else to them.

“They can’t
beat a truck,” Craig hissed and revved the engine as he sped off
down the track.

Eric could have
sworn as the headlights swayed over the tree line that he spotted
the furious eyes of his father, but he could’ve just imagined
it.

He sighed,
thankful for the heater as he stroked Luna’s soaking fur. She
licked his face and nuzzled into his side, and he held her close as
they drove away from the cabin and his family for good.

Craig spoke of
how he’d met his lovely half-blood girlfriend Beth at a friend’s
party. That was where he had been while Eric took care of Luna.
He’d been seeing his girlfriend.

He explained
how he too was going to cut ties and run away with his girlfriend,
he had just been scared of their family.

He shook his
head as the wipers worked overtime to fight against the deafening
rain.

Craig had never
agreed with the ways of their family and wanted out, and he sighed
as he smiled sadly at Luna.

“I’m so sorry
to you both,” he murmured.

“Don’t be, you
got us out,” Eric smiled as Luna laid her head on his lap.

“Here. I put
all this stuff in the car before the hunt started,” he waved at the
glove compartment.

Eric opened it
and smiled softly. Luna’s art book was in there, along with his
phone. They had no signal at the cabin so he’d left the phone in a
drawer in the kitchen with the others.

Another phone
was in there, one he didn’t recognise.

Craig noticed
Eric eyeing the phone.

“It’s my second
cell, I use it only for my girlfriend. I wrote the number on that
paper there, you can add it into your phone. Once you and Luna get
your lives sorted, get in touch. We’re still family, and we’ll
stick together. We won’t let dad and our kind set our path and run
our lives,” Craig stated.

Eric spotted
the note in the glove compartment and sighed. His brother had
always wanted out too.

“Why didn’t you
say anything to me?” Eric asked, giving Craig a distressed
look.

“How could I? I
wasn’t sure about your stance on the whole thing anyway, but we’re
free now,” Craig stated, his eyes set on the track before them.

“So, what now?”
Eric murmured as he tenderly stroked Luna’s muzzle.

“We make new
lives for ourselves. Beth knows some people who can help us set
them up so there’s no link back to our family. You’ll have to quit
work. I’ll take you both to Beth’s house; she can shelter us until
Luna can shift back. Once she can, well, I guess we start afresh,”
Craig relaxed and cast a glance at his brother.

“I’m glad you
didn’t agree, I’m thankful to have some family left who isn’t
crazy,” he pursed his lips. “It’ll take a few hours to get there,
so get some rest. They can’t follow us in wolf form, and they can’t
track the ute in the rain, especially not once we’re on the
motorway.”

Eric nodded and
leant his head back on the headrest, his fingers still running
through Luna’s fur as he drifted off.

Chapter 9

Days passed at
Beth’s house, and Craig introduced them all to the lovely
green-eyed brunette. Eric could see why she’d been able to entrance
his brother; she was a beauty and had an amazingly friendly and
warm personality.

Luna stayed
upstairs with Eric in the spare room while Craig stayed with Beth
downstairs. They got to work making calls and getting things
sorted.

Eric had to
ditch his phone so it couldn’t be tracked, but Beth had given him a
new one with Craig and her own number already in it.

He thanked her
repeatedly for sheltering them and feeding them, and she waved it
off with a smile. Anything for Craig’s brother.

Luna had to eat
from a plate on the floor, and she slept on the bed beside Eric,
who would drape one arm over her as he fell asleep. They all barely
noticed that Luna was in wolf form, and treated as if she was still
human.

Eric awoke to
gentle strokes down the side of his face, and his eyes fluttered
open. He smiled sleepily at the blonde beauty beside him, and his
eyes couldn’t help but travel down her naked form.

“It’s good to
see you,” he murmured. “You’re beautiful.”

“Thank you,”
Luna whispered, but it was not just for the compliment. She leant
over him, her mouth merging with his, and Eric groaned as his
desire grew. He was more awake now, and he could feel her soft
curves through the blanket.

Luna drew back
to catch her breath and slipped under the blanket with him,
accepting his embrace.

Eric held her
close, drawing in the sweet scent of her hair and sighing.

“You saved me
Eric,” she mumbled into his chest.

“No, you saved
me,” Eric kissed her forehead.

Luna raised her
head to stare into his eyes as she traced his jawline with a tender
look. Eric leant down to kiss her, and their tongues fought as
their mouths merged. Luna moaned and trembled as she pulled back
from the kiss with a grin.

“I want you
Eric,” she purred as she dragged her fingers down his chest.

Eric pulled
back to stare at her. The lust in her eyes and love was all he
needed, and he pulled her close, bringing their lips together once
more.

Luna squeaked
as he flipped them, and he explored her naked body, caressing her
smooth skin and fondling her breasts. He nibbled on the perky
nipples, drawing the delicate bud into his mouth as he sucked. Luna
shifted beneath him and moaned softly, and he smelt her
arousal.

He grinned
against her boob and let his length nudge her through his boxers.
They were getting extremely tight and uncomfortable on him, and he
slipped them off quickly.

Eric danced his
fingers across her bare thighs, watching as Luna squirmed, wanting
more.

He obliged,
staring into her deep blue eyes as he inserted a finger. Her mouth
fell open and she lay back to enjoy the pleasure as he began moving
his finger. He twirled and flexed it; thankful he’d overheard
Brent’s bragging about how good he was in bed. Now he had something
to work with.

He slipped
another finger inside, struggling to contain himself at her
wetness. God he wanted to be inside her.

Luna moaned as
he fingered her, swirling and flicking inside her. He fastened his
movements, dragging his fingers out before sliding them back in
quickly, and she became breathless as she bucked up to meet
him.

Luna arched her
back and trembled, and Eric took his chance. He slid his fingers
out and eased his length inside her, loving how her walls caressed
him and tightened around him.

She shook and
clung to him, murmuring sweet words of encouragement as he began
thrusting into her. She moved to meet him, grinding her hips up
into his. He quickened, thrusting harder and deeper into her as she
moaned and quivered beneath him.

“My god,” Luna
gasped and arched up against him as her body trembled violently and
she gulped in breaths of air.

Eric exploded
inside her, his body struggling to keep itself up as her body
tightened and pulsed around his manhood.

Luna sighed and
chuckled as Eric collapsed on her, using one arm to hold himself
upright.

“That was
amazing,” Luna managed to say as she caught her breath.

“You have no
idea how much I’ve wanted to do that,” Eric murmured as he leant up
to kiss her.

“Same here,”
Luna smiled softly and kissed his forehead.

Eric pulled out
and laid beside her, pulling her close and nuzzling her back.

“I can’t wait
to see my brother again,” she murmured.

“I’ll take you
to see him as soon as I can. Tomorrow even,” Eric whispered as he
kissed her back.

“Thank you for
everything Eric,” Luna sighed and held his arms around her.

“No, thank
you,” Eric whispered. The pair fell asleep entwined, and Eric
dreamt of a new life with Luna.

A life that he
chose.
