She smiled at him. “Mortician said I was gorgeous. All the guys did. Don’t you think I am?”

Shaking his head, Christopher gripped his hair. “I’m gettin’ Ghost here to blow this motherfucker up. The doctor we payin’ for ain’t helpin’ and this psycho camp ain’t helped. Answer me this—why you wanna fuck me?”

“To make Johnnie see how he’s hurting me,’ she whispered.

“What about Megan?”

“What
about
her? You need to stop protecting her and let her feel some of the consequences of her actions. She needs to grow up and back away from my man so he can marry me before I take hers.” She swiped at her eyes. “Everyone always tells me to be me. Well, this is me. This is how I always survived.”

“You can’t fuckin’ take me if I ain’t lettin’ you. Know what else? You might wanna do
more
than fuckin’ survive, you miserable fuckin’ bitch. You might wanna open your fuckin’ eyes
for fuckin’ real
and—“

“Shut up. You’re nothing but a hypocrite. Judging me when you have those Bob sluts around. So’s your bitch of a sister. None of us are innocent and yet you crucify me for being honest.”

“Cuz your motives worth fuckin’ shit.” Why the fuck was he even in here listening to her? Because he needed to wait for the fucking cops because he’d killed a motherfucker to save her ass. If he left the office, all she’d do was follow him the fuck out with this same bullshit.

“Johnnie don’t deserve your betrayal,” he growled, thinking of all the ways he’d make Johnnie pay for this trip. This was
his
bitch. He should’ve been here listening to her whiny craziness.

“I don’t deserve his.”

“So this shit tit-for-fuckin-tat?”

“However you want to see it.”

“You know what? I hope Johnnie
never
marry your fuckin’ ass.”

“I love Johnnie,” she cried, “but I don’t know how else to get his attention.”

“Usin’ fuckin’ common sense would go a long fuckin’ way.”

She popped to her feet and hurried to him, grabbing his hand. Glaring at her, he snatched it away.

“The only other alternative is leaving him. Every time I talk about setting a wedding date, he changes the subject. I can’t take much more of his rejection.”

She
would
see Johnnie’s actions as rejection, but Christopher knew better. Fuck her. He’d allow her to think the fucking worst. It was what she fucking did best. She was the most unreasonable bitch he’d ever met. Nothing anyone did for her was ever taken at face value. Wanting dick from him to get Johnnie’s attention.

What kind of shit was that? What bitch not belonging in a psycho camp for the next twenty fucking years thought fucking her man’s brother, her “friend’s” husband, was a good ass idea?
Any reasonable bitch
would know good in fucking hell well all shit like cross-fucking would do was lead to blood, tears and death.

“Listen up, Kendall. What Megan do or don’t fuckin’ do aintcha fuckin’ business.”

“The hell it isn’t!”

“The fuck it
is
,” Christopher countered. “You fuckin’ with her head and I ain’t too sure you not doin’ that bullshit on fuckin’ purpose.”

“As if it matters to you,” she snapped. “She’s just your stupid, little pet.”

“And I’m her stupid, fuckin’ puppet. From where the fuck I’m sittin’, bitch, it ain’t no fuckin’ more than what the fuck you wanna be to Johnnie and what you want him to be to you.”

She dropped back on the seat and glared at him. “Fuck off. Megan
is
stupid. She never, ever stands up to you. She just gives you her stupid, blind trust, so you can use it and her,” she spat.

Christopher opened his mouth to respond, but snapped his lips shut, thinking of the abortion pills he’d intended to give her. The whole elaborate plan to use Mort’s fizzy specials so she wouldn’t know what the fuck she was doing. His intended dick snip without Megan’s knowledge.

He just wanted to protect Megan and keep her safe, but, fuck him, if this cunt wanting to give him pussy wasn’t right and that just galled the fuck out of him. “Look, cunt, stay the motherfuck outta my goddamn business. Leave Megan the fuck alone. You so concerned about her? Then, fuckin’ act like it, Kendall. Ask her how she feelin. Listen to what the fuck she wanna do durin’ the day, without fuckin’ beratin’ her. Stop fuckin’ with her to get your own fuckin’ rocks off.”

“Practicing psychology now, dickhead?”

“Nope, but in a fuckin’ moment I
will
be utilizin’ chokin’ the shit outta your miserable fuckin’ ass. You a miserable cunt? Fine.
Stay
a miserable cunt. Make Johnnie a miserable cunt right the fuck along with you. But you
ain’t
bringin’ my girl down to the fuckin’ depths of your hell.”

“You already did, so I have no work left to do, asshole. I’m trying to raise her up.”

“Ain’t gotta bring Megan up from nowhere. If she in hell, then she rulin’ right along next to me because
she
my fuckin’ queen and I ain’t gotta problem showin’ it.” He gave Kendall a nasty smile. “She got my fuckin’ name, huh? What the fuck you got but Johnnie’s kid in you? You ain’t even got his fuckin’ attention to set a fuckin’ date to
give
you his name. So talk the fuck about my girl all the fuck you want.” He lifted a brow, satisfied at how her face had crumpled. “She got what the fuck you don’t ever seem to be fuckin’ gettin’. Her man’s love
and
fuckin’ last name.”

Tears slipped down her cheeks and she stared at him, completely defeated. After all her bullshit from today, he felt remorseless and justified. Leaning against the desk and folding his arms, he challenged her with a look, waiting for her to open her mouth again. Finally, she lowered her lashes.

“I-I can’t win with you.”

Jesus, Mary, and all that was holy. “Ain’t gotta fuckin’ win with me, Kendall. Johnnie the motherfucker you gotta
win
with.”

“You can tell him to marry me,” she said on a whimper.

“What the fuck wrong with your fuckin’ mouth? You can tell the motherfucker, too. You supposed to have more weight with him cuz you the bitch givin’ him pussy.”

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t talk about my pussy the way you talk about Meggie’s.”

“I don’t even think of your pussy, so why the fuck would I fuckin’ talk about that shit?”

“I don’t really want to fuck you.”

“Don’t give a fuck if you did.”

“You want pussy from
everyone
. What’s wrong with
me
?”

Christopher scowled at her. “You a glutton for fuckin’ punishment, huh, Kendall?”

“I already know! It’s the same reason Johnnie won’t marry me and the same reason my mother didn’t love me.”

“Your Ma not lovin’ you just meant she was a stupid cunt. Kinda like you but for different reasons. Johnnie not marryin’ you ain’t got shit to do with how you fuckin’ look. I think all of us fuckin’ told your dumb ass you fuckin’ gorgeous. Ain’t gotta throw pussy around to have motherfuckers prove they think you gorgeous. Just because I fuckin’ despise you don’t mean I ain’t recognizin’ your beauty.”

“You don’t really hate me.”

Rolling his eyes, Christopher snorted. “Believe what the fuck you wanna.”

“If I looked like Meggie, would Johnnie marry me?”

“Not unless he fuckin’ love you. If you looked like Donkey fucking Kong and the motherfucker loved you, he’ll fuckin’ marry you.”

“Then he doesn’t love me.”

Christopher scratched his neck then rubbed the back of his head, sincerely wishing the badges would show up. “You got issues, Kendall. Major, major fuckin’ issues that don’t seem to be gettin’ no fuckin’ better. Your biggest fuckin’ thing? You fuckin’ obsessed with Megan. You ain’t Megan. You two different girls. She ain’t ever gonna be you and you ain’t ever gonna be her. You can’t fuck me to make yourself feel wanted or to get John Boy attention or to repay Megan cuz Johnnie loved her. You think that shit right than you ain’t only needin’ therapy, you needin’ a fuckin’ straight jacket. Shit don’t work that way and situations sure ain’t resolved that fuckin’ way. After almost a hour talkin’ to you, I still ain’t understandin’ how your head work.”

“Do you want to?”

“Not for the fuckin’ reason you think. John Boy love you, and you goin’ deeper and deeper into a dark fuckin’ place that’s gonna end up fuckin’ hurtin’ him bad.
That’s
why I’m tryin’ to figure you out.”

“The therapist said I need to let Johnnie go. I’m scared if I do he won’t come back. I’ll lose him.”

Christopher shrugged, hearing the faintest siren in the distance. About fucking time. “If you lose the motherfucker, he wasn’t worth fuckin’ havin’.”

Distracted, he walked around the desk and opened the blinds, gazing out. No cruisers or EMTs in sight. Fuck him. Maybe, he needed to fuck up more motherfuckers on the island just to get a quicker fucking response. Waiting around was a pain in the fucking balls.

He should just leave his contact information and get the fuck going. That shit worked at minor car wrecks. Had to work for dumb motherfuckers that got dead.

“Christopher?”

Fuck. Kendall was still in the fucking room with him. “Yeah?” he asked with a tortured sigh.

He looked back at her and she looked so alone and pitiful, he almost wished he fucking liked her to pat her on the head or something.

She tapped her head and sucked in a breath. “In there hurts,” she admitted and touched her heart. “Here, too.”

“What the fuck that gotta do with me?” Cuz, really, her statement confused the fuck out of him. It wasn’t like he gave a fuck where on her ass was fucking hurting.

“Nothing,” she said miserably.

“Outlaw, what’s a dead body doing in the middle of the fucking floor?”

Christopher turned at the sound of Cash McCall’s voice and started forward, already forgetting Kendall. “Ghost, what the fuck you doin’ here?”

He pointed his thumb behind him. “Me and Johnnie came here to meet you while Val and Mortician went back to Washington with Bailey.”

“You got her.” Christopher breathed a sigh of relief and something unclenched inside of him. “Thank fuck.”

“Move the fuck out of the way,” Johnnie ordered.

Cash grinned and stepped aside, so Johnnie could rush by. Kendall got to her feet, her face pale and her eyes huge. He crushed her to him and kissed her.

“Looks like you need a visit to the ER,” Cash observed conversationally, nodding to Christopher’s shoulder.

“I sure the fuck do,” Christopher agreed, clenching his jaw as Johnnie cooed to Kendall and stroked her hair.

Johnnie caught Christopher’s gaze, a question in his eyes.

Christopher shrugged and winced at the pain in his shoulder. “You was fuckin’ right. Sharper sent a shaggy motherfucker to pop Kendall. Bad aim, John Boy. He fuckin’ missed her and got me instead.”

A small smile tipped Kendall’s lip and Christopher sighed, deciding to nod to her. She was…
lost
. He knew her story, so he knew she just wanted reassurance that she was worthy to be loved. He understood. He’d felt that way once, too. Until Megan.

It didn’t matter how Kendall was feeling, though, cuz she was also fucking paranoid and the most insecure bitch Christopher had ever met. But it was fucking Johnnie who’d sown her seeds of psychoness and, for that, Christopher felt like shooting the fuck out of him.

Instead, he accepted Johnnie’s gratitude, shown by holding his hand out. The moment Christopher accepted, Johnnie pulled him into a man hug.

“I know that’s not the way it went down, motherfucker,” Johnnie whispered.

Christopher grunted, noncommittal, bumped fists with the man and walked out, ordering Cash to follow. He needed to hear Megan’s voice, so he could tell her how much he loved her. Until shit settled down, he’d keep fucking Kendall away from his wife. Then, he’d tell Megan himself just what the fuck this cunt did today—wanting dick from him.

He’d have to phrase it to show Megan that he understood what Kendall was going through…blah-fucking-blah-blah.

In a way he did, although he wouldn’t give
anyone
the slightest satisfaction that he knew where Kendall’s motives came from. Besides, he didn’t fucking believe that bitch’s excuse. To get Johnnie’s attention was fucking bullshit. Kendall wanted him to fuck her….just fucking
because
.

That part he’d save for last as he explained the other bullshit to Megan.

Their PI had fucking checked Kendall’s background, so Christopher knew her first “real” relationship had been with motherfucking Spoon. All before Kendall had spread her pussy to get shit. Johnnie knew her fucking past, and didn’t hold it against her. How the fuck could he, anyway? That would’ve been some hypocritical bullshit.

Okay, so that shit wasn’t secret to Megan, since Christopher had already told her. There was a perfect fucking angle. He’d tell Megan how much he admired Johnnie for not holding the pussy pitching against his bitch. That was the truth. Christopher had really cared about Kiera—something Megan made him own up to when he’d never thought too deeply about it—but she’d been a club whore, and he’d never been able to come to terms with that.
