Two PR.34s were duly lost, PR XVI NS528 breaking its back as a result of a heavy landing at Alipore on 11 August and newly-arrived PR.34 RG213/O ditched into the sea at China Bay eight days later whilst attempting to land on one engine. The crews were unhurt but both aircraft were written off.

On 20 August Flight Lieutenant J. R. Manners and Warrant Officer F. A. Bodey in RG210/J photographed Penang Island and Taiping in northern Malaya during a return trip of 2,600 miles on a record 9 hour 5 minute flight.
