She laughed and snuggled closer, resting her palm on his chest. She’d never tire of feeling the rhythmic thumping of his heart. It signaled life, and she was forever grateful to have been given a second chance at loving him.
“I love you, Conner.”
“I love you too, Katya.”
“I’m going to tell you that a lot.” Never again would she hold her emotions inside. No matter what the outcome of the rest of her life, no matter what losses she had to
suffer, she was going to make sure that she told everyone that she cared about how much they meant to her.
First and foremost her husband, her mate, her alpha.
“The moon’s still glowing outside,” he said, kissing her temple.
She sighed, feeling its magical power fill her, and knew that as long as she had her mountain, the moonlight and the man she loved, her life was complete.
“Sleep, baby. Tomorrow we have a lot of work to do.”
“I know.” She welcomed the tasks ahead. They had much to do to protect the Carpathian wolves, but with Conner at her side, she could do anything.
She closed her eyes, more relaxed and content than she’d ever been.
Destiny had brought Conner to her doorstep. Her ability to love him kept him here under the moonlight of the mountain she called home.
Their home.
Their mountains.
Their dynasty. A new life for all of them was about to begin.
