12 1 February 1959, the penultimate photograph of the Dyatlov group. Here they are making their way up on to the ridge on Kholat Syakhl where they were to pitch the tent on their last night. The weather has worsened considerably.

13 The last photograph taken of the Dyatlov group while they were still alive. Here they are preparing to pitch their tent on Kholat Syakhl in the late afternoon of 1 February 1959. Sometime that evening or night, something caused them to slash their way out of the tent and down the mountain with no footwear and minimal clothing.
