For a few seconds she paused.

“Call 911 and get an ambulance,” instructed Luciana. “I’ll give him CPR. It’s the most I can do for him.”

Robert was moaning softly. It sounded like he was struggling to say something. I ran over and moved up close to his mouth to hear him.

              “Ba-ba-baby, they…” he croaked out. “They’re…coming for me. You…run.”

Luciana gave me a look of bewilderment. “He sounds delusional. Better call 911 right away.”

While Luciana was busy, I did as she told me and got 911 on the line. Within ten minutes, paramedics put Robert on a stretcher and drove him to the nearest hospital. I didn’t want him to go alone, so I got the paramedics to let me go with them.

I asked Luciana if she wanted to come. She declined.

“You just go on. I’m pretty tired,” she said.

The hospital visit was pretty brief. They saw cases like Robert’s all the time, and I helped him fill out paperwork and promised to visit him tomorrow. I walked home and saw Jessica and Amber worried sick about me. Luciana, though, wasn’t there.

She must still be at Robert’s, but why?

I went over to apartment 3 and knocked. No one answered. I opened the door and searched around. My first sight of Luciana was her butt waving at me as she was peeking under Robert’s bed. She was so entranced that she didn’t even hear me.

“Um, what are you doing?” I asked.

She shot up and knocked her head hard, looking surprised and guilty.

“I guess I got a little too curious,” she said sheepishly.

“I should say so,” I slowly uttered. I glanced around and saw that the room looked messier than before. “Why are you looking at everything? Are you trying to find something?”

“N-no, I think I just misplaced my keys. I got kind of carried away. Let’s go home,” Luciana sputtered.

I had a feeling that she was lying. She always sounded more confident than that. But I decided to leave her be. The last 24 hours was crazy enough for me already, and I needed to sleep. I went back to my place and conked out on my bed. Luciana said she had to go to a dentist’s appointment.

Chapter 10 – Luciana

I waited for everyone to leave Robert’s apartment. I especially wanted Rose to be gone. I could’ve gone back to my place, but this was urgent. I didn’t want to waste any time. This was a huge deal for my family.

After all the searching I did and everything that I saw, I was sure of it. Robert was the one, and in a fluke, I ran into him. Those tattoos tipped me off at first. I wasn’t 100% certain, but then I found the guns and the chains. It had to be him.

It looked like Rose had no idea of who she was dealing with, because if she’d realized anything, she certainly didn’t let it show on her face or say anything.

Of course, letting other people know who Robert was meant that Rose would have to find a new boyfriend. But I was doing this for my family. I had a duty to them.

I scrolled through my list of contacts and pressed on the one I was looking for. I waited for what seemed like a very long time for the other end to pick up.

“Who is this?” the same old gruff voice rumbled.

I stood up as straight as possible and made sure to speak louder than usual. “It’s Luciana. I have something that’s urgent. Put my father on.”

I heard a short gasp. “Of course, Ms. Adalfieri. Pardon me. I’ll get your father here immediately.”

Moments later, another voice spoke up.

“Is that you,
cuore
? I’ve missed you.” It always comforted me to hear my daddy’s voice.

“You’re not going to believe what I’m about to tell you, daddy,” I began. “You ought to sit down before I continue.”

He chuckled. “Those are some bold words. Did you finally get engaged to someone?”

I laughed grimly. “I’m serious, daddy. I’ll just come out and say it. I’ve found him.”

“Who?”

“You know who. The man everyone has been looking for. He’s living in Atlanta right now as we speak. And the kicker is, daddy…the kicker is that he just went on a date with one of my closest friends.”

It grew very quiet. Finally, I heard a response.

“Don’t joke with me. Do you know for sure? How are you so certain?”

“He has all the signs. He has a pseudonym and he’s trying to hide himself, but I did some checking. I swear to God that I found him. I’m just as surprised as you are.”

Daddy’s voice took on a smooth tone. I got scared a bit. Every time he talked like that, he seemed to be planning something.

“So you’re saying that you’ve found Blake Snatch?”

As I heard those words, I enjoyed the quiet approval in them.

“Even better,” I replied. “He’s hurt and ripe for the taking.”

END OF PART 1

Chapter 1 – Rose

I’ve been holding my cell phone in my hands for the whole day, but the hospital still hasn’t called me. They promised to inform me about how Robert is doing, but so far there’s still no reply. Why does everything in this neighborhood have to function so badly?

Last night was incredible. Even taking into account the fact that I hadn’t had sex with anyone in years, being with him was more incredible than anything I anticipated. With his unruly beard, brown eyes, and rippling muscles, Robert is the definition of a ruggedly handsome man.  He looks scary at first, but spend some time with him and you can’t keep your legs folded together for long.

Ever since I first met him, he carried this air of mystery around him. The man is just full of surprises. He can cook, he can talk, he can joke. There’s so much about him I want to learn more about. Looking at him tells me that he’s hiding things. He’s the walking, talking definition of a man of mystery.

It’s been a long time since any man has been interested in me. All that enigma around him is such a turn-on. Then again, it kind of scares me. I just have no idea where he came from, what his life is like, what he likes and dislikes, what his job is. And that thing he said about his real name? Is he even really called Robert?

I want him. I want to know him. I want to be with him. But I can’t just think about myself. I’ve got kids to take care of. Can I trust Robert with Jessica and Amber? And can I trust myself with a new guy I just started knowing? After falling so hard for Ricky and getting my life so fucked up, I couldn’t afford to just jump in so quickly. If I ended up pregnant again, got him so wrapped up in my life that he wouldn’t leave, or broke up with him, I’d have to deal with the consequences. I couldn’t have any of that. My life already is complicated enough.

He’s just so cool and handsome. But he’s too unknown. Something about him screams trouble. I have no idea how involved I can get with him. We need to take it slow, but will he be OK with that?

When he gets back, we’ll have to talk about it. I already got closer to him than I planned last night. And as exhilarating as it was, I know I’m dancing around fire. If I’m not careful soon, I’ll get burned badly.

But deep down, I’m kind of excited about feeling the burn.

Chapter 2 – Luciana

I checked my bedside clock and saw that it was just past 10 a.m. Time for me to get up. Sam, the guy I had over at my home last night, had picked up his clothes and let himself out. I didn’t mind at all. Generally, I enjoy it when I’m finished with a man and he leaves without me getting to know more about him. It makes the sex more thrilling, and it lets me forget about all the crazy stuff I did last night.

The weekends are my time to chill and let my hair down. Most girls like to stay at home and watch a movie, or, if they’re in the mood for something wilder, have drinks with their girlfriends or go on a date with a guy. My idea of a good time is to head to a classy bar or restaurant by myself, dressed to the nines with sexy makeup, and wait for some brave soul to approach me. It never took very long. Every straight man within a one-mile radius would stare at me like I was an oasis and they hadn’t had any water in a week, while all the women would look at me with murder in their eyes, wishing that I’d drop dead from their eyes boring into me.

The best times I’ve had were when a man abandoned the woman he was with to take me home with him. If I was feeling especially frisky, I’d have my fun at one guy’s place, then make arrangements to visit someone else. Over the course of one night, I’d hook up with two, three, or even more guys. It’s a great way to meet people and get perks from them. Aside from the big hard dicks, of course. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting judges, city council members, doctors, and CEOs from my adventures. Then I would spend Sundays Netflixing and chilling at home, enjoying the total solitude for one day.

This Sunday, however, I had plans. As much as I liked staying at home, being naked, and not wearing any makeup, I knew there was a certain man I wanted to see today.

I posed in front of the mirror, which covered the entire exterior of one of my closets. It gave me a full view of my rocking body. The closet wasn’t big enough for everything I had. While it held some of my stuff, I had to use another one of my bedrooms to store the rest of my clothes, shoes, jewelry, and makeup. It’s one of the downsides of having so much money to spend.  My chestnut brown hair fell down past my shoulders and was disheveled in all directions, which was expected after the wild night of sex I had just enjoyed. I ran my hands over my perfectly tanned and blemish-free skin, marveling at the complete absence of wrinkles or spots, and paused when I reached my breasts, cupping them and feeling very smug about how they barely sagged. My D cup beauties had the same caramel color as the rest of my body, thanks to the care I took to tan evenly.

I then put my fingers down to gently separate the outer folds of my vagina, and felt the cool and soothing breeze against my delicate labial flesh. I had an enticing pussy with a few soft strands of hair; I didn’t want to go through the hardship of shaving everything off and being bare, but I didn’t sport a massive bush that would scare off men either.

I’d just painted the nails on my fingers and toes with bright crimson polish, and they still looked glossy, resembling solid blood. That was one less task for me to complete. I just had to do my hair and pick an outfit.

I showered quickly and blow-dried my hair, wrapping it in a loose bun. I pulled away one of the sliding doors of the closet and rummaged through the hangers. I was trying to put together the outfit that best told the world, “I’m a whore”. While I had a wide selection of clothes that would do the job, I wanted to choose carefully. I fished methodically through the racks, deliberately bypassing the lingerie. Finally, I found a soft black dress with a low square neckline and straps around my shoulders. It showed most of the upper half of my breasts, and was a magnet for the eyes of horny men. The fabric was silky and sensuous, and the bottom clutched around my gloriously bulging butt. I clicked a chain belt across my waist, and stepped into matching black heels with metal straps around my ankles. Admiring myself in the mirror, I fitted black gemstone earrings on my earlobes and a gold necklace on my throat, and dabbed a bit of makeup over my cheeks and eyelids. Some blush, tiny amounts of dark mascara, and I had a face that any man wanted to take and have his way with. Of course, I was going to present all of this to only one man, so I put on my manila trenchcoat. I’d take it off at the proper time.

Along with my keys, phone, makeup, and rosary in my handbag, I made sure to grab the round box of pills that I always kept locked in a jewelry box under my bed. Considering all the sex I had, I definitely didn’t want to have any little Adalfieris running around at this moment. I wasn’t even really intent on getting married now, and I sure as hell didn’t want a baby. I always made sure to take my pills routinely, and so I was always safe.
