‘Do you really have to go home?’

His lips twitched, but he nodded firmly. ‘I have no desire for your brother and Talbot to beat me senseless and fighting back would only sour our future relations. From now on, we are going to do this properly. Agreed?’

Nell thought about it. She thought about how her life might be, married to a Viscount. But not just
any
Viscount. Grif understood her better than any man ever had and that included Perry.

Pretend as she might, she knew that she wanted him; not just tonight but forever. How could she not?
‘If I marry you, seducing married women has to go,’ she said, after a time.
‘What, all of them?’
‘Every single one, I am a very good shot.’

‘Well, if you insist. Do we have a deal then? I will save my seducing for you and you will stop stealing valuables from the rich and ridiculous?’

If
you do just one more thing for me.’ Turning, Nell propped her head on her hand. She looked like an angel, fair hair lose around her shoulders, face a picture of innocence.

Grif looked at her suspiciously. ‘Well?’

‘Well, it is still some hours until morning. And I am not yet tired. Perhaps you could…’ her free hand moved, slipping beneath the blanket. She was gratified to discover that he had clearly been thinking along the same lines as she was, for his arousal met her questing fingers. ‘Perhaps you could…’

‘I could,’ he agreed, pushing her over and rolling on top of her, ‘I most certainly could, Miss. Marriott. For it is a gentleman’s pleasure to give a lady what she most desires. And I am most certainly a gentleman!’

Under the circumstances, as his hands grew busy once more, Nell was forced to agree.

He was every inch a gentleman.
