She’d been absolutely right to believe she could trust him.
On the other hand, she couldn’t deny the disappointment that washed through her, knowing his—Will’s—view had been blocked.
“We could stop this now, Mel,” Ben soothed. “End the game by closing the blinds. Or I could step away and you could pull down your skirt, get dressed.” He buried his nose in her hair, and a warm waft of air tickled through the strands and over her neck.
Options. The man was giving her choices. Letting her decide what to do, where to take it from here.
“Or,” he whispered, and the mere sound of his voice sent a hot thrill through her, “I could fuck you, just like this, at the window, knowing he’s watching.” He punctuated this option with a small twist of his hips, withdrawing from her ever so slightly and then plunging back in.
At this angle, she doubted he could move any more freely, and that was fine with her. The thrust was hard, intimate. Ben was close. So close his chest pressed against her back, his heat warming her even through her jacket—although his legs no longer touched hers. She suspected he’d had to bend his knees to accommodate the change in position.
As minute as the action had been, Melissa felt it all the way down to her toes, the resonating echo of pleasure pulsating in every muscle.
She fixed her gaze on the man in the chair, couldn’t seem to look away. Didn’t want to.
“Fuck me,” she said. “Just like this.” As she voiced the words, she realized this was exactly what she wanted. Ben, inside her, making love to her. Ben, so close she could inhale the same air he breathed. Ben, fucking her, while his friend watched. “Don’t stop. Please, don’t stop. Ever. I couldn’t bear it. Need more. Need…you.”
Ben was moving. Pulling back and thrusting into her, fucking her in the confined space they had available. Twisting his hips and plunging his cock inside her, filling her with indescribable pleasure.
His hands clamped around her breasts, holding her upper body immobile. Her hips were pinned between the windowsill and Ben. She couldn’t move, could barely inhale enough air to keep her lungs oxygenated. Or perhaps the lack of air came from the fact she’d forgotten to breathe, forgotten to do anything but luxuriate in the magnificent bliss Ben wrought on her.
It lasted hours, or perhaps only seconds. All Melissa knew was the rhapsody and the torment building, the pleasure climbing towards a peak. Part of her gloried in the thrill of being watched, in the wickedness of knowing they had a voyeur. She and Ben were not alone in this steamy, lascivious act.
Will was there too, observing every action.
Funny that she’d let him watch, let him see so much. Funny that it had such a dizzying effect on her. How bizarre that a stranger could have such an intimate view of this sexual side of her and yet know nothing about her thoughts or feelings.
Ben shifted them, moving his hands. One arm banded across her breasts, concealing them from view, and his other hand slipped low, resting against the mound of her pussy.
Where before the windowsill and wall had hidden her from the waist down, now Ben pulled her backwards a step, allowing Will a view of everything.
Or did he?
Ben’s hand covered her pussy, and from such a distance, Melissa knew Will wouldn’t be able to see that she’d shaved herself bare—for Ben. He wouldn’t be able to see the way Ben’s finger slipped, unhindered, over her clit. Or the way Ben slid it ever so lightly against that swollen bud, up and down, round and round, teasing, caressing, stroking, just like he stroked into her from behind, thrusting, plunging, driving. Deep, deeper.
Melissa tried to keep her eyes open, tried to watch Will, see his response. It was a useless exercise. Her lids closed. She had neither the strength nor the inclination to leave them open. She leaned into Ben, accepting his support, glorying in it. Pressure built inside her, a combination of the erotic tease of his fingers and the carnal thrusting of his cock.
She couldn’t breathe. No longer needed to. No longer needed anything but Ben. Melissa screamed as her orgasm broke. The pleasure was too intense, the build-up too powerful. She couldn’t contain the sound, couldn’t hold back the force of the climax as it hit. Waves crashed down in bursts of sheer bliss, consuming her, overwhelming her.
“
Mel
.” The agonized cry told her Ben was right with her, his own climax taking hold of him. Every muscle in his body turned rigid. Even the finger on her clit stopped moving, although he kept it there, kept up the pressure so every time she shuddered she jerked against the finger, prolonging her release.
As her pussy convulsed around him, grabbing him, holding him, his cock pulsed inside her, over and over, his climax as interminable as her own. God, was it as good for him, as satisfying? As mind-blowing? Could anything be as good as this?
“Mel, ah, fuck.
Mel
.” The raw passion in his voice sent shudders cascading through her. Ben called her name.
Hers.
As the last tremors of their spent passion rolled through them, Ben released her from the strong grip he held her in. He didn’t let her go, didn’t expose her to Will. He simply loosened his hold, letting her breathe freely. But he stayed pressed against her back, his heat pouring into her, his breath echoing in her ears.
And she stayed right where she was, content for him to hold her weight, to give her strength.
Eons later, Ben slipped out of her pussy. He eased her skirt back over her hips and then, one arm still concealing her breasts, leaned sideways and pulled on the cord of the blind.
Just like that, Will was locked out of the room.
“Some things are not for his eyes,” he whispered. He took a couple of seconds to dispose of the used condom, then he spun Melissa around, wrapped his arms around her and caught her mouth in an intoxicating kiss. A kiss that lasted forever. A kiss that made her already shaky knees weak and her already pounding heart race.
A kiss that she could not have pulled away from had a hurricane blown over them. A kiss that sealed Melissa’s fate. No matter where their affair went from here, and no matter what he thought about it, she was his. Her heart now belonged to Ben.
Damn it. She’d never meant to lose her heart to him. Never meant to get emotionally involved. She couldn’t afford the luxury. If she fell for Ben, she’d focus on him instead of work. She’d lose track of her goals, and she’d never become partner. Which would make one more notch in her belt of failures.
Mel may have lost her heart to Ben, but she hadn’t lost her head. She knew what she had to do now. Shift walls to hide her true feelings from him.
Ben lounged at her office door as Melissa turned her back and donned her shirt. She’d returned to professional mode, had already brushed off his touch as he reached to straighten a stray strand of hair.
“Honestly, I don’t need an escort,” she told him. “I walk to my car alone every night of my life.”
Frustration prickled his spine. She’d just opened up and given him everything. Why did she have to close him out so quickly? “I’m not escorting you, Mel. We’re parked in the same car park, I thought we could walk there together. It makes sense.”
“I’d feel more comfortable if we left the office separately.” She packed her briefcase, neatly and efficiently.
“Why? You think someone will see us together and suspect something is going on?”
Her cheeks flushed, and her hands stilled, then she unpacked and repacked her entire briefcase.
Hello again, shy and uncertain Melissa.
At least she hadn’t gone AWOL. Ben would have missed her.
“That’s exactly what I think,” she said.
“Sweetness, we’ve already been seen together.”
Panic crossed her face. “Please tell me you know him well enough to assume he won’t say a word?”
The need to protect her rose in his chest. “He won’t.” Ben had absolute confidence in that. Neither he nor Will was the type to kiss and tell. Or watch and tell, for that matter.
“Good.” Her sigh of relief was audible. “I wouldn’t like anyone else aware of what’s going on between us.”
Okay, taking precautions to ensure no one walked in on them while they had sex was one thing, but this bordered on neurosis. “And two colleagues walking out of an office together is going to tell the world what? That we’re lovers?”
She blinked.
“I’ll be walking beside you, Melissa, not fucking you on the footpath.”
Her face flushed and for a second she had a wicked gleam in her eyes.
“Oh, fuck.” Ben took a shuddery breath. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
She shook her head. “What I’d like is irrelevant. I’m just acting the way I feel I have to in public.”
He refused to do this. Refused to let her push him away. Melissa was not a nameless woman he’d shared with Will. She was a lover he was fast becoming addicted to.
“Fine.” Ben shrugged, pretending she didn’t frustrate the hell out of him. He’d try a different tack, one he knew she wouldn’t ignore. “I thought I could take the opportunity to tell you about my phone call with Everton this afternoon, but I guess it can wait ’til tomorrow.”
Melissa eyed him warily but finally conceded with a nod. She closed her briefcase, stepped past him and walked out into the corridor. Why, oh why did she feel the need to keep her distance? Did he scare her? Bore her? Threaten her?
He wanted to reach out and grab her hand so he could hold it in his. Or put his arm around her shoulder and pull her close to his side, keeping her there. He wanted to take her home with him, strip her naked and make love to her for the rest of the night. Or for half the night, at least—and spend the remainder of the dark hours curled up around her slumbering body.
He gave in to one instinct, reaching out to take her hand.
For a few moments she let her palm rest against his, even tangled their fingers together. Her hand felt warm. It fit perfectly against his.
But when the doors to the lift slid open, she pulled away.
As the lift descended to the ground floor, Melissa cleared her throat. “So, what did Everton say?”
“He said yes. They’re going to issue the debt. We need documentation on their desks by four p.m. tomorrow.”
“Took them long enough to make up their minds, but at least we’ve got them on board.”
Ben nodded. “You have the paperwork ready?”
“I do. We’ll go through it first thing in the morning, make sure everything’s in order and courier it over.”
“As long as we do it in your office, that’s good for me.”
Melissa raised an eyebrow in question.
He repressed a grin. She may have reverted to full-on professional mode, but he hadn’t. “We could do it in my office, but just know that if we do, the minute the last I is dotted and the final T crossed, I am going to strip you naked, throw you over my desk and fuck you ’til you scream. And I don’t particularly care who sees us.”
“Ben, I beg you. Restrict talk like that to your office, after hours. Where no one but you and I can hear it. Please.”
The doors opened, and Melissa all but raced out of the lift into the deserted lobby.
Ben had no compunction calling after her, knowing his words would stop her in her tracks. “Why are you running, Mel? Because you don’t want me to fuck you on my desk, in broad daylight, when everyone can see? Or because you do?”
She skidded to a halt and slowly turned to face him. “I’m not running.” She looked oh-so calm, but the frantic pulse beating in her neck gave her away. “I made my intentions clear last night. We work, we fuck, we go home. Whatever happens between you and I happens in your office. Period. Outside of your office, we are work colleagues, nothing more.”
“That’s bullshit. We’re out of my office now, and we’re a whole lot more than work colleagues. Deny it all you want, but that’s the plain truth. Hell, Alistair is a work colleague. I have no desire to push him against the wall and fuck him six ways to Sunday. You, on the other hand…” He took a deep breath. “You I’d take in a heartbeat, if you just gave me a sign.” He pointed. “Right over there. Against that wall.”
Melissa turned to look at the wall, licking her lips nervously, gratifying Ben to no end.
“The only reason I’m not pushing the issue right now is because I left the condoms in my desk upstairs.”
“Ben—” Melissa spluttered. Fury darkened her eyes. Fury and desire. “I refuse to discuss this further.”
“And I refuse to talk about work after what just happened between us.”
“Fine, then we won’t talk. I didn’t want to talk in the first place. I didn’t even want to walk outside with you.”
“That’s a lie, Mel, and you know it. You want to be with me. You just don’t want anyone to be aware of it.”
She turned and marched off. He fell into step beside her.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why won’t you be seen in public with me?”
“I’ve already told you.”
They exited the building, jogged down the stairs and hit the footpath, both of them taking a right towards the car park. “And I’ve already told you that excuse doesn’t cut it. Do I embarrass you? Scare you, maybe?”
