Chapter Seven

He heard the sirens getting closer as his index finger pulled back slowly.

“You’re going to pay for this,” Ned moaned in pain, pressing down on his wound. Assholes still wanted to tempt him.

Shane was a man of little words, his actions spoke louder than any words would. He remained silent, he knew Larissa was somewhere in the house peeking through the blinds, especially after hearing the gunshots; begging for him not to shoot them. He prayed Grayson slept through all this commotion.

Bob dropped his cellphone out of his hand, and got down on his knees. “Please don’t kill me,” he squealed. “We were just protecting our sister. Please!” He raised his hands up in surrender.

Too late. “You think I give a fuck?” Shane hollered. “You’re protecting your delusional sister, and I’m protecting what’s mine.”

“Don’t shoot him,” Scott begged, holding on to his busted finger. “All this over her?”

Shane released the trigger, but continued aiming at his target. “Larissa!” He yelled, knowing she wasn’t far away. “Yes all this for her.”

The door cracked open, and she peeked out. “Yes…”

“Bob and Scott have something they need to tell you,” Shane glared at Liza’s brothers. They looked at each other confused.

“I don’t have shit to say to that n-” Scott didn’t get the chance to finish.

“I dare you to finish that motherfucking sentence,” Shane placed his index finger on the trigger. “I will put a bullet in your brother’s fucking head right now.”

Scott swallowed, staring at his sweaty brother.

“I’m waiting for you to apologize to my woman.” Shane inched forward, getting closer to Bob.

Shane slowly began to pull the trigger.

“I’m sorry!” Bob screamed. “Please, please tell him not to shoot me,” he cried. “He’ll listen to you.”

Shane stared at Scott, that’s who he wanted to apologize. Larissa didn’t deserve the way they treated her. Prejudice was one thing Shane couldn’t stand. “Scott, I’m going tell you one more fucking time, apologize to Larissa.”

“I apologize,” he said between gritted teeth.

“For what?” Larissa finally exited the house, placing her hand on her hip. She glared at the men. “I’m waiting.”

Scott’s nostrils flared. Shane could tell this was killing his racist ass. “I apologize for coming here, and calling you names.”

“I couldn’t hear you,” Larissa placed her palm to her ear.

“I apologize!” He raised his voice.

Shane pulled the trigger as the cops were parking. All three men dropped to the floor for cover, and Shane started chuckling. He only had two bullets in the chamber. The look on their faces was priceless, they really thought he was going kill Bob. He was cray cray, but not that crazy.

“Who’s the bitch now?” Larissa smirked.

He lowered the gun. “If you ever come back to my home,” he stepped forward, making Bob crawl away. “I promise I will fucking finish what I started.”

“Larissa,” Lorenzo walked up his driveway. “I’m tired of saving your ass, Morgan.”

Shane simpered, “You think people would learn not to fucking mess with me by now.” He watched the fools being held by the other cops. “Let me guess, Larissa called you.”

“You needed reinforcement,” she leaned against the doorframe. Larissa gazed at him. He knew he had some explaining to do. He yelled at her earlier because he was protecting her. “Grayson is sound asleep.” That boy could sleep through anything. “I’m going to check on him again.”

“Babe,” Shane called out. “I love you.” he needed her to know that no matter what went on he would always be there for her. Shane loved Larissa with everything in him. He never believed in having a soul mate, until he set eyes on his chocolate beauty.

“I love you more,” she grabbed the doorknob. “You owe me,” Larissa winked. “You better think of something really good to make it up to me.” She entered the house.

Shane fixed himself; he knew exactly what Larissa was talking about. She was a bad girl tonight, he laughed at himself. He was outside in the middle of the night with nothing but some shorts on. The neighbors were all outside by now. An ambulance and another police car pulled up.

“What the fuck happened this time?” Lorenzo asked him.

“He tried to kill us,” Scott voiced, and then raised his hand. “He almost shot my finger off, and he shot Ned’s leg.”

“It’s only a flesh wound,” Shane shook his head. “They came on my property, banging on my damn door,” he pointed at the damaged barrier, “and I warned them to leave and they didn’t.” He calmly stated. “The law in this state says I have the right to defend anything on my property.”

“It’s his word against ours,” Ned finally talked. “He assaulted us, we came in peace to get Liza’s son.” Lying SOB.

Shane quietly glared at them, tapping his finger on his chin. “My son is right where he belongs, but security cameras don’t lie,” he pointed at a tiny camera up by this front door. “As a law enforcer myself, I have to make sure my family is safe. Wouldn’t you say, Scott?”

“Why are you arresting us?” Bob yelled as the young cop was reading him his rights and cuffing him. The paramedics were assessing Ned and Scott.

“You should be arresting that monkey lover!” Bob yelled.

Shane just shook his head, didn’t they notice that most of the women and men in uniform standing by them were African-American. Damn hillbillies would never learn.

Lorenzo walked up to Bob. “Morgan… what did he just say?”

“Nothing worth repeating,” Shane replied. “Fuck them.”

Lorenzo pointed at Bob, “Morgan didn’t fucking shoot you, but I don’t have a problem finishing what he didn’t.” Shane pulled him away. His partner was more of a hothead than he was. They made a great team.

“Scott,” Shane yelled as they were taking him in the ambulance. “I never believed in taking a child away from his mother until this very night. Make sure you tell Liza I’m coming for her ass.”

“Is that a threat?” Scott twisted back.

“It’s a fucking promise,” Shane walked away with his friend. “Time to give my statement.” He stated his side of the story, and told them Larissa didn’t see anything. Shane handed his gun over to the authorities, he knew it was a precaution.

Shane and Lorenzo watched as the rookie cop, pulled on a pair of gloves, and started picking up the evidence.

“They came at you with a crowbar and a bat,” Lorenzo laughed. “That’s all?”

“Did you see what happened to the bat?” Shane chuckled, looking at the broken wood. “They fucking ruined my night with Larissa.” He thought about her legs wrapped around his waist, moaning for more. She was so fucking close. “I need to make it up to her.”

“I bet you will,” Lorenzo grinned. “Did you ask?”

Shane’s lips curled up into a smile. “She said yes.”

Lorenzo gave him a bear hug. “Congrats, man,” he pulled back. “Welcome to the club.”

“She’s the one,” he glanced at the door. “That woman has my back.”

“I see,” Lorenzo stepped away. “Larissa is just as fucking crazy as you.”

“I believe she is,” he laughed. “My own ride or die.”

“Brother, I’ll check on you tomorrow,” Lorenzo said. “I’ll take care of the rest out here, go take care of your family.”

“You sure?”

“Yes, go finish whatever those fucking assholes interrupted.”

Shane ambled to his front door, and opened it. “Someone’s been really bad…”

Chapter Eight

Shane locked the door, and punched the wooden surface. His knuckles ached, and he shook his hand. He would handle Liza when he took Grayson to her house tomorrow. She put their son in harm’s way, because she was fucking jealous. What mother does that? Shane was in his thoughts when Larissa touched his back.

“Shane,” she whispered, caressing his shoulder. “Everything is going be to okay.”

“I’m tired,” he sighed. The biggest regret he had in life was meeting Liza. Why didn’t he walk away when she asked him to dance? Shane wondered. There was no use in living in the past, what’s done can’t be redone. “Is Grayson still sleeping?”

“Yes, he slept through it.”

Again he thanked God that his son was a sound sleeper. “She sent those mother fuckers to my home to hurt the woman I love.” He couldn’t face her, until he calmed down. He took a deep breath, “What if I wasn’t home, Larissa?”

“But you were,” she lay her head on his back, circling her hands around his waist.

“What if I wasn’t?” His voice rattled, and he cleared his throat. Emotions weren’t his thing.

“Shane,” she raised her voice. “I don’t want to talk about those fools right now.” Larissa moved back, “I’ve been a very bad girl.”

He gave her half a smile; she was trying to lift his mood. He twisted around as she was untying the straps to the robe, letting it slip off her naked body to the floor. Shane swallowed, ogling his beauty; the only thing that mattered was Larissa. All his anger vanished in that moment. Her nipples were hardened under his gaze, “I need to be punished.” She bit her index finger.

“Do you?”

“Yes… I do.”

Shane took a few strides forward, circled his arms around her ass, and picked Larissa up. He started kissing her passionately. Their tongues played a game of tug of war. Shane sucked on her bottom lip, making her moan his name.

“Shane…” She wrapped her legs around his waist, humping on his growing bulge. “Stop playing with me, and give me what I want.” She sucked on the sensitive skin right under his earlobe, He was hard as a rock by now.

He walked her over to the entryway, and gently slammed her against the door. Shane held her between him and the barrier, and rapidly pulled down his shorts. He touched her clit with his fingertip, “Mmmm… Daddy doesn’t play.” Larissa was wet, waiting for him to take what was his. He thrust up, and she took his cock inch by inch. “Fuck!” he slammed his hand on the door.

“Oh God!” Larissa wrapped her hands behind his neck, following his rhythm. When he plunged up, she thrust down. “Yes… yes… yes!” she groaned, her nails digging into his shoulder.

Shane tapped her ass with his palm. “Is this what you want, bad girl?”

“Yes!”

He smacked her again. Larissa was a lady in the street, but a freak with him. She didn’t hold back, she voiced what she liked, and what she didn’t. He learned every inch of her body.

“Shane!” she chattered, “Shane… yes… right there…” Her grip around his neck got tighter. Larissa rose up and back down again, rotating her hips. Shane wasn’t going be able to last long with the moves she was breaking out.

“Babe…”

Larissa was so lost in ecstasy that she didn’t hear him, her eyes were closed, mouth slightly opened.

“Open your eyes,” Shane leaned his head closer, controlling her movements with his hands on her hips, moving her up on down on his rod. “I want to see you cum.”

Larissa’s eyes fluttered open. “I… love… you…”

Her muscles gripped his rod, pulsating. Larissa was about to cum, her moaning got louder, and her toes curled on his ass. “I’m….” she hugged him tight, biting his collarbone.

The contracting sensation made him lose control, moving faster. Larissa continued rolling her hips, taking him in. “No one…” he said between gritted teeth. “Will… ever… hurt you!” He came so hard, that he lost his footing and they fell on the floor, laughing, out of breath. Shane grabbed the robe on the floor next to them, and covered her.

Her chest heaved up and down as she tried to breath normally.

“Do you think they heard us?” Shane pulled her closer, and started singing

He chuckled, not fucking caring if they did or not. She didn’t answer. He kissed the side of her face. Her cheek was moist. He turned his head, watching her. “Babe,” he leaned up on his elbow, Larissa’s eyes flooded with tears. “Did I hurt you?” He gazed at her concerned.

She shook her head, wiping her eyes.

“What’s wrong?” He took her hand in his. “Tell me.”

“I think it’s best if we call it quits,” Larissa whispered, looking away.

He sat up, watching her. “What did you just say?”

“I don’t want to come between you and your son. Liza will leave you alone once I’m out of the picture.” She gazed at him. “I don’t want you to resent me years from now,” Larissa continued wiping at her tears. “Shane, I’m doing this for you.”

“Are you fucking serious?” he glanced down at her. “Did I fuck you senseless, because you must have lost your damn mind?”

Shane glared at Larissa without saying another word. She couldn’t be serious. Larissa must have bumped her head on the door. Just when he thought his night was getting better she goes and crushes it. He calmly stood, walked over to the entryway and picked up his shorts. He continued to stare at her as he pulled his shorts on. Larissa watched his every move while she pulled on his robe and sat on the sofa.

Shane turned, and twisted the doorknob. “Larissa, if you’re willing to throw away everything we’ve built together, then fucking leave,” he slowly opened the front door. She wiped her tears again.

Her chest began heaving up and down, but she didn’t answer. Shane was tired, just when happiness was a reach away; the one person he knew had his back was the one turning away from him. Shane closed his eyes, and clenched his jaw. Larissa was the air that he breathed. “Was it a lie?” Shane’s voice cracked. “All this shit about standing by me, and we can make it through anything together. Was it all a fucking lie?” He shouted, slamming the door shut.

Larissa stood, tears rolled down her face, shaking her head.

“Answer me dammit?” He faced her, “Do you love me?” he raised his voice.

“Do you think this is easy for me?” Larissa pointed at her chest with her index finger as she cried out. “You think I want to be without you?” She wiped her cheeks. “Shane, it hurts me to see the pain you’re in,” her hands shook. “You should never have to choose between your son and a woman. I love you with all that I am, and that’s why I’m willing to let you go.”

“I don’t have to choose between you and my son,” he took several strides forward. “What we have doesn’t have anything to do with Liza. I will handle her.”

“I don’t want you going to jail because of me.” She walked up to him. Her eyes were puffy from crying. Larissa wasn’t one to cry, she normally kept her emotions tightly sealed away.

“Larissa, I would fucking kill for you,” he gazed at her. “Woman, I fucking love you. I will not let you do this to us.”

She caressed the side of his face. “I will sacrifice my happiness for yours and Grayson’s.”

“I won’t be happy if you’re not by my side. Grayson loves you,” Shane took her hand in his, and kissed it. “Don’t you fucking get it? I can’t live without you, Larissa. You’re like my drug of choice. I’m addicted to you and the cure you’re trying to hand me, I don’t fucking need.” In a swift move he wrapped his arms around her back. “Do you love me?” he whispered in her ear.

“I do,” she pulled back, cupping his face. “I have never backed down on anything.”

“Don’t start now,” he bowed his head, and kissed her lips. “I promise.” he said against her lips. “I will fix this. I will put the fear of God in those assholes. I will protect you, us.”

“Shane, I know but…”

“Don’t do this,” they gazed at each other. His nose flared, she wasn’t listening to him. If she left him, all hell was going to break loose, and everyone that was involved in disrespecting Larissa would pay, starting with Liza. “Do I have to show you?” Shane pulled her flushed against him, letting her feel his growing erection. He bit her bottom lip, down her chin, neck, and then her collarbone. His lips brushed against her sensitive skin. “You leave when I fucking say you leave, and that’s never.”

Larissa moaned.

“You don’t want to leave,” he loosened the belt on her robe, touching her hardened nipples. He leaned down, and sucked on her nipple, making her groan. He came back up. “Do you want to go?”

“No…” She grabbed the back of his neck.

“I’m not letting you go, Rissa.” Shane gazed at her, gently tugging her hair, exposing her neck. He kissed, and then sucked on her sensitive skin. Larissa’s fingers combed through his hair. Shane placed his thigh in between her legs. “Baby… who do you belong to?”

“You,” she whispered. “Only you!”

“I belong to you.” His lips brushed her jawline, and his fingers worked their way to her stomach, down her pelvis, and finally he grazed her pearl. Larissa gasped. “I was made to fucking love you, Larissa.”

“Rissa!” Grayson screamed. They both looked down the hall. “Rissa!”

Shane kissed her luscious lips one more time. She wasn’t going to walk out on him, not tonight, not ever. “Don’t leave, I’ll be back,” he went to move, but she grabbed his arm.

“Your name isn’t Rissa. He wants me,” she tied the belt to the robe, and ambled to Grayson’s room.

~~~
Larissa covered her face with her hands, realizing that was the hardest thing she ever had to do. Shane wasn’t letting her go. She was willing to sacrifice her happiness for his, but thank God she wouldn’t have to. She slowly opened Grayson’s door.
He was awake. “Rissa, bad dream.”
She walked over to his bed, and sat on the edge. “I’m here now,” she combed his hair with her fingers, and then caressed his rosy cheeks. “I won’t let anything bad happen to you. What was the dream about?”
“Monster,” Grayson stared at her. “Closet,” he pointed at the closed double doors.
Larissa stood, “There are no monsters here,” she walked up to the closet, and pulled the doors open. “You see, no monsters.”
Grayson raised his head, inspecting the small area. “Under bed,” he pouted.
She acted like she was looking for the boogeyman all over the room. “Buddy, monsters don’t exist.”
“Mommy call monsters,” he commented.
Larissa took a deep breath, she had to keep her emotions in check. Liza was telling him that monsters were real, was she using that as a form of punishment?
“There are no such thing as monsters,” she tickled Grayson’s tummy. “Let’s say a little prayer to help with the bad dreams.”
Grayson smiled, and patted the spot next to him. “Here”
Larissa moved up, and kissed him on his forehead. “Dear heavenly father please help little man sleep peacefully tonight, amen.”
“Amen… but you forgot to pray for a baby.”
“A baby,” Larissa giggled. She wasn’t ready to be a mother, and Liza definitely didn’t need another child. “Next time I will.”
“No monster.” His small eyelids drooped heavy with sleep. She settled her back against his headboard, and Grayson eased onto her lap. He wrapped one of his hands around her waist, and with the other he held her hand.
“No monsters,” Larissa rubbed his back. “I’m right here.”
“Rissa,” he kissed her chest. “I luv…”
She couldn’t help it, Larissa loved this little boy as if he was her own. How could she turn her back on love? She was a fighter, and if Liza wanted a fight then the gloves were coming off. Liza almost got what she wanted, almost. Larissa came to her senses. “I love you too,” she responded and rocked him back to sleep. Liza was going to have to learn to share Grayson, because she wasn’t going anywhere.
Half an hour later, Larissa closed Grayson’s door, and went down the hall to Shane’s room. “Shane?” She searched the room, but he wasn’t in the bedroom. Her heart raced, praying he didn’t go to Liza’s house. She rushed out off the room, and stopped in her tracks when she saw him. “What are you doing sitting in the dark?”
“Making sure you didn’t fucking sneak out,” Shane turned on the side lamp.
Larissa stared at the love of her life. “You were right, you must have fucked me senseless,” she strolled over to him, and entwined their fingers together. “My mind is clearer now. I know my place is here with you and Grayson.”
Shane’s lips curled into a smile from ear to ear. “We are getting fucking married tomorrow.” He stood.
“We’re getting married, but not tomorrow,” she kissed him. “I have a few things to take care of first.” Shane lifted an eyebrow. “But I promise, I’m not running away from us.”
