Tucker propped himself on his elbows, gently kissing the skin below her navel, then each of her hipbones. Emmy ran her fingers through his hair, her own coif twice as messy as it had been before they’d begun. She must have been doing some epic thrashing while he’d gone down on her to result in that level of tangle.

He kneeled on the edge of the bed, parting her knees to accommodate his body. Her eyes closed, and a lazy, happy smile spread over her lips when he touched her between her legs, finding her still wet and ready for him.

Guiding his cock to her opening, he ran the head over the lips of her pussy, slicking his skin with her wetness, closing his eyes to better focus on the dizzying sensation of it. He wanted to thrust hard, bury himself deep inside her and come again, but he brought himself to his senses as soon as the notion crossed his mind.

He was so intent on being inside her, he’d almost gone in bare.

Clearing her throat, Emmy had obviously arrived at the same realization. “Do you have something?” she asked, her voice rough with desire, eyes half-closed.

“Nightstand drawer.” Tucker jutted his chin to the cherry wood stand beside Emmy’s shoulder. She fumbled, trying to make her limbs work with her, and got the drawer open. Instead of handing him the condom, she ripped the package open herself and didn’t hesitate before rolling it over the head of his cock and down the shaft.

As much as he would have loved to go without, this was their first time and they hadn’t taken an opportunity to discuss the finer points of what a sexual relationship would mean. He didn’t know if she was on the Pill, and as cute as little Tucker-Emmy babies might be, he was certain neither of them wanted children at this point in their careers.

Now covered against concern, Tucker resituated himself and entered her, nudged in just an inch. Emmy gasped, and he paused, rocking his hips slightly to enjoy the tight feel of her clinging to him. He pushed another inch, and this time she arched her back, raising her hips to meet his thrust. Tucker took her invitation, and holding her waist, he buried himself so deep in her his balls smacked against her ass.

Oh, God
. Had sex ever felt this good before? He’d wanted to have Emmy like this for months, ached to be with her, and now that he was finally discovering what it meant to be inside her, he didn’t ever want to give up the sensation.

Emmy groaned a happy, wanton sound, and he withdrew almost all the way, reveling in the wet tightness of her that fit him like a glove. His heart hammered as he tried to restrain himself, wanting to make this last, but every fiber of his being was shouting—

“Faster,” Emmy commanded, speaking aloud what his own body demanded.

Tucker was as eager to respond to Emmy’s suggestions off the field as well as on, it seemed. He thrust into her again, only now he didn’t stop. He pumped faster and faster, until her panting breaths began to match his own, and she clawed at him, nails raking his arms and back as she tried to find purchase on something. Tucker cupped her face, and she drew his thumb into her mouth, sucking it the way she had his cock earlier.

He groaned and drove fiercely into her, the slick, sweaty sounds of their bodies meeting a rhythm unlike any other, the beat of it urging him to pound her harder. Each time he raised the bar, she said, “Yes, oh
yes
.” It was the greatest word he’d ever heard in his life.

As she writhed under him, he felt himself building towards climax like it was a cliff ahead he couldn’t avoid falling over. But he wanted to bring her with him—needed to bring her with him. He slowed down before he came and reached between them, finding her clit with his thumb. As he rocked against her, he circled her swollen nub with precise attention, first barely touching it, then matching the speed to his thrusts.

He was close, but the part of his brain still capable of rational thought told him he wouldn’t enjoy it unless he got her there too. Her satisfaction was as much a reward to him as his own.

Emmy grasped his thighs and her orgasm built, clenching him from the inside. The closer she came, the pulse of her body worked him like a hand, until they both reached the precipice at the same moment, coming as one. It was impossible to tell whose ragged breaths were whose as they collapsed, spent, into Tucker’s sheets.

It had been worth the wait, for Tucker. Never in his life had he been rewarded for his patience as profoundly as he had with Emmy.

“Thank you,” she whispered into his ear.

Tucker laughed and pulled away enough to focus on her. Her eyes held a dreamy quality, and the smile on her lips was enough to make his heart melt. “Thank you for what?” he teased.

“For being you. For everything.” She nestled into the crook of his shoulder, and soon her breathing softened, telling him she’d fallen asleep.

He stayed awake, staring at the skyline of the Bay, wondering what he’d done in a previous life to deserve getting so lucky in this one.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

“You look like you got rode hard and put away wet,” Jasper said with irritating cheer when Emmy came into the trainer’s suite later that morning.

“What?”

“Rough night?” Her assistant eyed her, obviously trying to glean some knowledge from her appearance. As he was not a wizard, she knew the way she looked wouldn’t tell Jasper what she’d been up to. Yet they’d known each other a long time. Long enough he could see on her face when she was hiding something from him.

“You could say that.”

“Did you break up with Clark Kent?”

“Jasper.”

“Sorry…Simple Simon.”

There was no point in defending Simon against Jasper’s teasing anymore. There hadn’t ever really been a point. Jasper would say what he wanted to say, and it was one of his most annoying traits as well as one of the reasons she loved him.

“Yes, I broke up with Simon.”

“About damn time.”

“Gee, thanks.”

Jasper hopped up on the edge of one of the massage tables and continued winding a roll of tensor bandage. Judging by the pile of tight skin-colored rolls on the counter, he’d been at the task for a while.

“Oh come on. You and I both know it was a long time coming.
Everyone
knows it’s been a long time coming. And now you can put me out of my misery and go climb the tall, handsome tree that is Tucker Lloyd.”

Emmy would have given anything right then for an
off
switch on her incessant blushing. If her expression wasn’t already a dead giveaway, the hot flush that flooded her cheeks wouldn’t escape Jasper’s attention.

She tried to turn away and busy herself with the dugout med kit, but avoidance was almost as bad as facing him outright.

“Emmett Rose Kasper, you look at me.”

“Jesus, Jasper.” She faced him, hoping her cheeks weren’t half as red as they felt. “Did you just channel my mother?”

“I hope not, because I don’t want your dearly departed mom seeing the
Emmy Got Fucked
billboard currently lit up on your forehead.”

Emmy huffed a sigh and put her med bag on the table next to him, stealing a few of his tensor rolls. “Don’t say another word.”

“You sure didn’t waste any time.” His tone was teasing and nonjudgmental, but all the same Emmy felt a pang of guilt. The corpse of her relationship with Simon hadn’t even been cold before she jumped into Tucker’s bed.

Though, in all fairness, she had woken up in Tucker’s bed, which made it a short hop.

“Was it amazing?” Jasper asked, his voice going dreamy like a middle school girl asking about a friend’s first kiss.

“I’m not going to tell you.”

“But you admit it happened?”

“I’m not going to tell you that, either.”

“It’s cool, your rosy-red cheeks already spoke volumes for you.”

“Goddammit.” She rubbed her cheeks as if she could tamp down the color, not that it mattered. The damage was already done, and there was no sense in trying to hide it from Jasper now. “Look, he’s going to be here any minute for his session. I would consider it the biggest favor you’ve ever done for me if you would
not
say anything.”

Jasper mimed zipping his mouth shut. The blessed silence lasted all of a minute before he spoke again. “I’m not going to say anything…”

“I hear the unspoken
but
.”

“If you’d given me two seconds, it would have been a
spoken
but.”

“Carry on.”

But
, I want to make sure this guy isn’t just using you.”

It was the sweetest, most brotherly thing Jasper had said to her since,
You don’t want to chase the swim coach. He likes the peen.
He’d been right then, but Emmy didn’t think she had anything to be concerned about when it came to Tucker. It had been a long time since she believed in the honesty of someone’s affections. Even with Simon she’d known a large part of their relationship was based on comfort and ease rather than real love.

“He’s not,” Emmy assured him.

“Okay. Because if he is, I’m going to kick his ass from here to next Sunday, I don’t care how much his contract is worth.”

“Last time I checked, one hundred and forty-eight million over five years,” Tucker said from the doorway. “So depending on the length of the ass kicking, you might owe the Felons about sixty dollars a minute. Give or take.”

Jasper was unabashed, but counted on his fingers. “You make ten thousand dollars a game?”

“Sounds about right.” Tucker joined them in the room, apparently not one of those people who was ashamed to admit what they were worth. It was hard to be shy about income when your paydays were broadcast to the world via ESPN.

“You make my annual salary in less than a month,” Jasper said with a dramatic sigh.

“Don’t feel so downtrodden,” Emmy said. “In that month he makes your
and
my annual salaries combined.”

“Pretty damn good week,” Jasper noted.

“Only if all my parts work,” Tucker offered. “And that’s all on you guys.”

The team’s massage therapist came in, helping herself to a cup of coffee and trading greetings with everyone, but also nipping any of Jasper’s commentary in the bud. Tannis was a sweet girl. A little too sweet to be working in a locker room daily, and Emmy had needed to scold most of her staff about their lewd conduct, lest they all be taken to the Felons human resources department.

Right now, Tannis’s mild-mannered nature was working in Emmy’s favor as it kept Tucker and Jasper from further humiliating her.

“Jasper and Kasper,” Tannis said with a smile. “What’s on the menu for today?” Her red curls were piled on top of her head in a lazy-looking knot Emmy wasn’t a big fan of but had no say in banishing.

“Chet will be in in about half an hour,” Emmy said, not needing to consult the schedule to know who needed what. “His hamstring has been causing him some grief lately, so I want you to focus there, but not too much pressure. We need him healthy.”

Tannis nodded and added more sugar to her coffee, swishing the liquid in her mug to mix it since they had no spoons. “Anything else?”

“Alex will probably roll in an hour later than his scheduled time. He’s about to go on a five-game stretch since Brian got recalled and the trade for Pablo hasn’t been finalized. I want you to pay attention to his legs and thighs especially, then send him to me, okay?”

Tannis nodded, wished them all a good morning, and wandered down the hall to her room.

Tucker gave Emmy an appreciative nod. “You know about the Pablo Rancon trade?”

Emmy smiled. “They don’t say
pending physical
for nothing, you know. Sometimes I get asked to assess on these things, see what kind of wear a guy has on him and whether or not the eight million he wants is a bargain or a shot in the foot for our franchise.”

Ramon entered the room with a six-foot cloud of ego around him and presented himself to Emmy and Jasper, announcing, “I am here.”

Jasper rolled his eyes so only Emmy could see, then hopped off the massage table and guided Ramon to the other side of the room. Tucker took Jasper’s place beside Emmy, sitting like she had in his kitchen that morning, with his knees touching her thighs.

A warm swell of memory washed over her at his touch, reminding her of all the things he’d done less than two hours earlier with his hands, his mouth, his…

“Want me to start with some basic stretches?” Tucker asked, reeling her back in to the present task.

“Please. I’m going to go get a resistance band. Do you want a bottle of water?”

“Sure.” He’d already begun doing some overhead stretches, and her gaze was drawn upward to the way his fingers crooked and fanned. The smile he gave when she looked back down told her it was no accident he’d been moving his hands like that. It was the closest he could come to flirting with her while two other men were present. Her legs trembled as she walked out of the room, well aware he’d be watching her go.

When she came back, they spent the next half hour staring intently at each other while she held the resistance band and he did his damnedest to pull her over. Ramon left and Chet replaced him, having finished with Tannis. Jasper went through his warm-up routine with the shortstop, but Emmy barely noticed either of them was there.
