“Guys, come on,” someone said from behind us.

I thought I would freeze up. Be scared. Instead, laughter bubbled up out of me.

“Fuck off,” David barked over his shoulder at our intruder.

I couldn't stop laughing, even as David pulled out of me. My body trembled in response to the loss and the cool air now on my exposed ass and spread pussy.

“You bring something?” David's deep voice rumbled through a labored breath from behind me.

“Yeah.” I dug out the baby wipes and tossed them to him, still too high from my orgasm to do anything else. Then I felt the cold wipe as he cleaned me up. I didn't feel embarrassed. I didn't even care. I kept my hips pushed back at him, not moving at all as he took care of me.

“Ready to go?” he asked when he was done.

I stood up straight and turned, looking at our surroundings. “Yeah. I'm ready.”

“Good. I can't wait to get this thing off.” He straightened my cape, making sure it was covering me. He checked my cleavage for an escaped nipple, then checked my skirt again, tugging, trying to pull it lower. Finally, he gave up with an annoyed sigh, “All right.”

He dug his phone out of a hidden pocket inside the waist.

“We're ready,” he said simply.

He pressed me against the wall again, and his lips met mine in a fierce kiss, his tongue thrusting in, exploring. Then deeper until he was eating at my mouth with a passion I was grateful for. Grateful he wanted me as much as he did after everything we'd been through. When he finally pulled away, I was dazed. Giving me a sexy smirk, he grabbed my hand, leading me through the backyard, back to the gate.

We were both still breathing hard, not having time to properly recover in our public setting.

“Come here, sweet girl. Keep that cape closed.” He pulled me close, tucking my head into his pec. My hair fell around me, covering my face as he walked us through the line of photographers.

It was probably obvious I'd just been fucked, but all I could think about was how good he smelled. It had to be pheromones. My pussy loved his smell, and throbbed fiercely whenever I got a whiff of him.

“Here he is.” David steered me toward the car.

I let him move us. I couldn't see anything but the ground beneath our feet.

“Get in,” he said, just as I heard a car door open.

I pulled away and quickly got in, sliding over, David right behind me.

“So that was a lot more fun than I thought,” David laughed as the driver pulled away from the curb.

“You didn't think you'd have fun with me?”

“I didn't think I'd have fun with other people around.” He pulled me close as he settled back, his arms wrapping around me as I laid against his side.

“The Snoop thing was pretty awesome.” I looked up at him.

“Mmm-hmm.” His eyes met mine. “We need to make the most out of the next four months.”

“Why? What's happening in four months?” I teased.

“You didn't get my messages earlier?” he asked, confusion on his face.

“No.” Then I remembered turning my phone off. “I still haven't turned my phone back on.”

“We got a really good offer from the Dodgers. Thirty-two million a year for three years.”

My heart sank.

I felt sick. I didn't want him playing baseball. I didn't want him having screaming fans, and women who called him “The David.” I didn't want him leaving town for games or spending his nights with a bunch of people that weren't me.

I swallowed the lump in my throat. “You signed already?”

“No. I go in Monday to sign.” He looked my face over carefully. Too carefully. “I thought you'd be happy.”

I laid my head against his chest, looking down his washboard abs.

Thirty-two million a year...

I'd never make that kind of money and it was only for three years, I tried to convince myself.

“I am. It's amazing, babe.”

“Four weeks ago, they only offered twenty-eight. I turned it down. It's the Stone fight that got us the pay bump. Apparently, we're trending.” Then he muttered, “Whatever the fuck that is.”

I wanted to tell him no, but he seemed happy. Proud. And I didn't want to be the kind of person who held him back out of selfishness. I couldn't deny it made me happy knowing Zach's persistence in creating drama had actually benefited David.

“That's great, babe.”

It wasn't great.

It wasn't anywhere near great.

But I had four months to figure out how to deal with it. Or get him to change his mind. The truth was, I didn't want to share him with anyone. Turns out, I was just as possessive as him.
