“They met with the Goddess Durga, the fierce demon fighting Goddess, in the land of Agslyae, the holiest of lands. She told them of the blood sacrifice that they would have to make in order to banish him back to the Underworld. Each Ancient eagerly promised to give their blood to get Melomouzor bound back to the Underworld.

“They went to the Mountain of Agesha, where they entered the Sacred Temple of Eosis. The Ancients worshiped Durga and offered their gift of their blood as a sacrifice for Durga. She accepted their sacrifice and worship and she attacked Melomouzor. She is the strongest Goddess of War and he was no match for her. She cursed him and his demons back to the Underworld. According to the Black Book of Ancients there is only one way for Melomouzor to come back.”

She pauses and looks at everyone in the room. While she was telling the story, we all had a seat at the table. We were all captivated by the story that unfolded in front of us.

“He will need the blood of the descendants to reverse his banishment.”

Chapter Ten
~Colin~

H
e will need
the blood of the descendants.
Shit! We are totally fucked! We’ve been trying to figure out who is related to whom by looking at the Ancients. It made it easier to start when the Black Book of the Ancients listed the names of all of the Ancients who were at that meeting and donated their blood. So far we have narrowed down a few of the recently missing. Serah is a descendent of the Abshia Ancient, Matewa Petra. Kevin Rhode, the other recent missing werewolf, is a descendent of the Gador representative, Talon Hamutana.

Azura was able to look up the Ancient Witches and was able to determine that the two most recent witches who went missing are descendants of the Ancient Witches. Athena Ivy, a twenty-two year-old witch who has been missing for two and a half months, is the descendant of the Fesau’s representative, Areta Romana. The older witch that is missing is Imoran Vlajamar, a seventy-five year-old witch, who has been missing for about a month and a half. We are able to trace him to Taikaroa Matene of Duyaji.

It’s getting late. There are plates and glasses everywhere on the table. We have been at this for hours and it’s close to midnight. Lina is currently sitting on the sofa speaking to her brother on her cellphone exchanging information since he has been working on the Fae disappearances. She looks exhausted. Twin smudges have appeared underneath her eyes, her bun that was on top of her head has fallen to the back of her head. My eyes are glued to her. She is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. Alec must have noticed where my attention has been.

“What’s up with you and her?” He asks in a low voice, sitting down next to me on the couch. They don’t have sensitive hearing like we do, so he knows that they cannot hear us.

“Nothing,” I glare at him fighting to hide my growing feelings for her. My wolf is scratching at my abdomen, trying to get out to go to her. My wolf wants to take care of her. He is totally infatuated with her.

“Then why can’t you take your eyes off of her?” He snorts, not disturbed by the glare I’m shooting at him.

“It’s nothing. She just looks tired. I think we should call it a night,” I try to explain as my eyes slowly travel back to her direction.

“And you care why? You’ve never paid this much attention to any woman. You haven’t taken your eyes off of her all night. You barely look at any of the females in our pack who have been dying to get your attention.”

He’s right as usual but I won’t tell him that. Women usually throw themselves at my feet. Every woman I’ve been with knows up front that nothing will come of our time together. I have never felt the need to settle down with one woman. But Lina, I can’t stop staring at her. She’s the most beautiful creature I have ever seen.

Mine…
Mate.
The voice whispers in my mind.

“You stare at her like she’s your mate or something.” I tear my eyes off of her to turn to him.

“What? You know I can’t take a mate,” I remind him. My eyes follow her as she gets up to pace still speaking to her brother on the phone. She occasionally will look over at me and I try to keep my feelings from showing on my face.

“No, you just made that choice. There are plenty of females who are dying to try to mate with you. What about Malia? She’s been trying to get her claws in you for years. She would make a good Alpha’s mate. She’s from a strong family, she’s always at our house helping out and it doesn’t hurt that she is one sexy female. She even knows how the house runs.”

“I don’t want to talk about me and Malia.” I break off the conversation as Lina hangs up her call and she looks over at Alec and me. We walk over to her and Azura.

“Keegan says that they have talked with the family and friends of the Fae who are missing. They really did not know much. One of them was here in the human realm when he went missing. The others, they believe, went missing while in Faery. I explained to him about the Ancients and Durga and they are going to try to trace if any of the missing are related to the Ancient Fae. He’s coming here tomorrow morning.”

“Did you tell him about the demon attack and Melomouzor wanting you?” Azura asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Hell no! If I tell him that now, he will flash here and haul my ass back to Faery before I can even blink! Gran, you
know
how he is.” She shakes her head and shudders. “I’ll just wait for him to get here and we can tell him the rest. I’m sure my father will want an update. I’ll call him in the morning.”

“We’re going to head out. I need to update the rest of the Legion on what’s going on,” I say and Lina leads us to the front door.

“Alec, are you going to be okay? You sure you don’t need a doctor?” Lina asks Alec noticing that he is still limping.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” His crooked grin appears. “Once I get back to our place, I’ll shift and go for a run. It’ll be just like new. Good night, Princess.” He nods his head and limps off to the truck. I’m stuck standing at the door like a fool, looking at her. She smiles slightly at me and literally takes my breath away. My wolf whines, wanting to get closer and get a whiff of her skin. I’m not even sure what to say to her.

“I’m sure my brother will want to speak to you about the missing wolves,” she says looking up at me with those large emerald eyes.

“Just call me if you need me. I’m going to have to look into the other wolves that were reported missing.” She nods. She looks like she wants to say more but she doesn’t. I run down the stairs and jump in the truck. My wolf howls, wanting to go back to the green-eyed princess.

the Tahoe into the driveway to our pack compound. We own about three hundred acres of land. Our driveway is located off a long dirt road that is hard to access. There is a large gate at the end of the driveway that you have to use your fingerprint to gain access if you belong to our pack. The guests need to buzz in at the gate to signal the main house to gain access. I place my finger on the coder and drive through the gate once it opens. It’s about a mile drive to the main house once you’re through the gate.

On our property, the pack members have built homes over the years. We started off with small cabins but as the pack grew and members found mates and started families, the number of homes grew. We’ve created our own little community with playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts and pools. All of the Legion members live in the main house. Members have their own private suite in the house.

The main house is white with black shutters and a red door. It has a wrap-around porch and the landscaping is perfect. We built a 10-car garage that is located behind the house that can house everyone’s cars or trucks and bikes. My father built this house years ago when the pack started growing and he decided to have all members of the Legion in one central location. I drive over to my garage and park the truck. Alec strips his clothes and shifts into his massive grey wolf. He turns to look at me.

I’ll be back.
He says across our bond and runs off into the night towards the woods. I thought for a second to shift and join him but I need to give the Legion members a heads up.

I head into the house through the side door that leads into our commercial grade kitchen. Voices are coming from the lower level of the house. I follow the voices that are coming from the game room or the
Wolf Den
, as we named it, and find Nick, Reed and Devyn playing the latest Call of Duty. They’re currently yelling and screaming at the eighty-inch television screen as if the action is real. The Wolf Den is decked out with all of the latest video games, pool table, arcade games, poker table and a full-fledged bar. A few years ago the guys installed a small stage with a stripper pole on it in the corner. I lean against the doorsill and clear my throat. They didn’t hear me.

“Hey!” My voice carries loud enough for them to hear me. All three of them jump and turn to the door. I chuckle as Nick pauses the game.

“Mandatory meeting for the members of the Legion, tomorrow at nine a.m. I need to bring everyone up to date on what we’ve learned tonight.”

“It’s bad isn’t it?” Reed asks. The big red-headed Scott is known for his instincts. When he says that he has a bad feeling, no one questions it. That gut of his has saved all our hides more times than any of us can count.

“Shit’s about to hit the fan,” I say looking at them. “I need the Legion to do what it does best. The Demons are back.” Curses fill the room. “I need everyone here tomorrow, contact everyone and make sure they know to come.” They all nod.

“Any trouble getting Tina to her compound?” I ask Reed.

“No, we got her there safe and sound.”

“Do we need to call in other Legion members from other regions?” Devyn asks.

“Not just yet. We need to gather more information. The witches shared a lot of information on the history of the Demons that even I didn’t know about. Get some rest tonight, you’re going to need it.”

are considered the Alpha suite of the home. It’s divided into a sitting area meant for entertaining with a couch, chair and television that leads into my bedroom with the master bath. This suite used to belong to my parents. Once I became Alpha, my mom moved out to a small cabin on pack grounds. She didn’t want to stay in the house that held so many memories of her and my father. I tried setting her up in one of the guest suites but she didn’t want to hear of it. She picked out a nice tiny cabin that is not too far away from the main house.

It’s been a long day and I quickly jump in the shower. My thoughts turn to a certain dark haired princess. The more time I spend with her the more I feel the
need
to be with her, but she deserves someone who can be everything that she needs. Someone who can be there with her, settle down and have babies with her. She deserves someone who will be guaranteed to be around forever. The urge to punch someone comes on strong at the thought of another man touching her, or her belly growing ripe with someone else’s child.

The pull to claim her is growing stronger. I’m going to have to find some way to avoid being around her so that I won’t see her long midnight curly black hair, or look in her big clear emerald eyes. Just the thought of her emerald eyes alone has my erection standing at attention. I’m tempted to take my cock in my hand and take care of this issue myself or call one of the countless female wolves I know who would drop anything to come for a night of pleasure in my bed. Neither of the options is appealing since they don’t include the tiny dark haired warrior princess. I opt instead for a very cold shower. I turn the hot water off and just let the cold water run along my skin. I shut the water off once I start to shiver.

I get out the shower and dry off, wrapping the towel around me. I walk over to my walk-in closet to find sleeping pants and the smell hits me.
Apricots.
My wolf perks up. He smells it too. I pause and sniff the air again. I must be imagining things. I quickly throw on a pair of pajama pants and the smell of apricots lingers in the air. I search the sitting area of my suite and it’s empty. I walk back into my bedroom. The scent gets stronger as I walk towards the patio.

Holy Hell.

She’s standing on the patio with her back turned to me gazing at the mountain view. Her hair is flowing down her back, so curly and shiny the moonlight seems to reflect off it. She’s changed her clothes since I left her grandmother’s house. She has on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that doesn’t quite reach the top of her jeans with a pair of flip-flops. I open the door and step out onto the patio.

“What are you doing here?” I ask. I’m in shock at how fast my heart is beating in my chest. Is this what if feels like to be nervous? My mouth goes dry looking at how perfect she looks in the moonlight.

“I needed to talk to you.” She doesn’t turn. Her hands are holding on to the handrail.

“It’s after two in the morning, it couldn’t wait?” I step closer to her, breathing in her natural scent. My wolf is pacing inside of me, drawing me closer to her. I’m losing my control. I don’t think I will be able stay away from her any longer.

“No, it’s personal.” She turns to look at me. Her heated gaze is filled with uncontrolled lust as she takes in my bare chest. My wolf almost wants to strut around under her scrutiny to show that he is the Alpha, the strongest wolf. He wants to please her. I have to catch myself from standing taller. Her lust-filled gaze gives her approval.

“About you and me,” she says stepping closer to me. I keep myself from stepping back. “I can’t help this feeling of being drawn to you. I can’t stop thinking about you. You’re always on my mind.” She stops right in front me, staring up at me.

“You shouldn’t be here.” The huskiness of my voice shocks me. My hands itch to touch her. My wolf is telling me to grab her and claim her. My gums are aching where my canines are trying to descend.

“Why?” She tilts her head as if she doesn’t understand. How do you tell a person that you want them so bad but you cannot have them? That she could do so much better than me. Being the Alpha of the Diamond Pack and personally overseeing the Legion is my life and there is no telling what will happen to me. I can’t do that to someone! I can’t create a life with someone and then get killed on a mission. What if we were to have kids? Then she would be left with that burden of raising children on her own.

“I don’t have room in my life for romance. I can’t promise you anything, Lina.” My body automatically steps closer to her.

“I’m not asking for a lifetime.” Her emerald eyes glance down at my lips before returning to look into mine.

“What are you asking for?” I need to know exactly what she wants. I don’t want to play games. Lay everything on the table for me to see so that I know exactly what’s going on. My wolf is almost howling, trying to get to her. He wants to be close to her.

“I need you.” She steps closer and raises herself on her toes so that she is able to put her head in the crook of my neck. My hands grip her waist, while she reaches her arms around my neck, linking her fingers together. She inhales and gently nips at me with her teeth and her tongue gently licks my neck. A growl escapes my chest. My wolf loves the love bite, he is almost purring. She looks up at me with those big green eyes of hers.
