He growled and bit his lower lip.

Pushing away from him, she stepped from the edge of the bed. She hooked her thumbs in the waistband of her panties and glided them lower on her hips, giving him a glimpse of bare pussy. Swiveling on her heel, she lowered the lace even more, exposing her nice, firm ass. The flimsy material fell down her legs. She stepped to the side and gave them a backward toss with her toe. They flew up into his lap. He picked them up and her scent engulfed his senses.

Fully naked and luscious, she was lovely. He watched her, snapping pictures with his mental camera. He wanted to remember this moment, the hottest damn strip tease he’d ever witnessed. Hell, the hottest damn moment he’d ever watched.

She reached out and entwined her fingers through his hair, tangling the locks and tugging them. She brought one foot up and slid it between his legs and the breath swooshed out of his lungs. He was on fire…

Pearl loved teasing DJ.

In fact, she couldn’t remember ever feeling as sexy and as confident as she did at this moment.

His eyes were full of want…for her. His sex was hard and stood proud. She ached to touch him, take him into her mouth, but she wanted to take things slow. To make him etch this memory into his brain and never forget it.

His fingers clenched the comforter and she knew he was in bittersweet agony. He wanted to touch her, but she wouldn’t allow him. She hoped to build a need within him that would make him explode once they connected.

With her foot nestled between his legs, she smoothed the tips of her toes over his sac and he sucked in a breath. She curved her shoulders and leaned forward, using the tip of her finger to follow the full swoop of his bottom lip. His tongue came out and licked her finger, sucking the digit deep into his mouth, rolling his tongue over her knuckle. She pulled her finger from his mouth and swirled the wet pad around her nipple. The moist areola tingled.

His head was slick with pre-cum.

Her own juices moistened her inner thighs.

She had to take things quicker or she’d lose her mind.

Removing her foot, she climbed above him, knees on both sides of his hips, the apex of her thighs above his hard length. She positioned her hands on his broad shoulders, using him as support as she hovered above him, swirling her hips. He looked like a Viking with his hair messed and a wicked expression marring his beautiful face.

“Tell me what you want, cowboy,” she slurred.

“You. I want all of you.” He still didn’t touch her as if he knew she wanted to tease him more.

“Enter me, DJ. Take me, now!”

Without hesitation, he grabbed his girth, positioned himself between her legs. His breathing was ragged and his chest lifted and fell with each breath. “Sit!” he demanded.

Wet and ready, she did as he requested. She lowered her body and glided his head inside of her. As her muscles adjusted and spread around him, she slowly slid deeper until he was fully inside of her.

She clenched her coiled muscles as he reached parts of her that ached for a hard cock. Gripping his shoulders tighter, she rode him, lifting her hips high, then sliding down in one fluid motion. His hands gripped her thighs and his thumb found her clit, flicking and teasing the nub.

Leaning her head onto one shoulder, she arched her back and he bent his head, capturing one nipple in his moist, warm mouth. His tongue swept over the pearl, licking and swirling, gently biting the pale flesh. She moaned and bucked harder as an orgasm needled at her center.

The spasms trolled her veins, igniting a heat she’d never known possible. Her muscles tightened and she cried out in utter release.

“Oh shit!” He jerked and tensed.

Together they were spent.

Chapter Nine

Pearl heard her cell phone vibrate.

Lifting up on elbow, she grabbed it and looked at the screen. Jewels had left a message.

“Meet at Rhinestone for dinner. I need to see my family. Bring cowboy along.”

Pearl absorbed her sister’s words ‘Bring cowboy along’. Pearl’s mind warned her taking him wasn’t a good idea. Her sisters had a way of seeing straight through her. They’d know instantly there had been more going on with DJ than nursing his wounds. It wasn’t that she had anything to hide. She was an adult and for the first time in a long time, she was doing something for pure comfort—and boy was it comforting.

Another part of her didn’t want to leave DJ behind. After all, soon she’d be leaving for good and what would happen in the future had her a little off kilter. She couldn’t use his stitches as an excuse in staying any longer. The healing was coming along quite nicely.

“What’s that look for?”

Pearl brought her gaze to DJ and butterflies fluttered inside of her stomach. He was stretched on the bed beside her, the sheet was pulled up exposing his feet. He had nice feet, and too many other things to list. She realized just how deep in the cloud of sexy cowboy she was in. “I need to step out of the house and interact with the land of the living.”

“Really? I’m liking the afternoon in bed.” He rubbed her arm, leaving tingles in his wake.

She laughed. “Well, as hard as it is to leave, I do have to go. I guess you could come too.” She tried for a casual invite.

“Where are you going?”

He tangled his fingers in her hair making it difficult for her to think. When he dropped his hand to her bare shoulder, her focus was discombobulated. “Gotta get moving.” She pushed back the sheet and got up, not even the slightest conscious that she was naked and his eyes were on her. “To Rhinestone.”

“You want me to go with you?” Surprise made his eyes darker.

“If you don’t want to—”

“I didn’t say I don’t want to go. Question is, do you want me to go?”

“I asked, didn’t I?” She grabbed the sheet from the bed and wrapped it around her body. If they were going to have a serious discussion, she needed to feel less exposed and vulnerable.

“Well, using ‘I guess’ really isn’t an invite, but more of an obligation.” He smiled. He got up, went to the dresser and pulled on a clean pair of boxers. Her cheeks flushed thinking of the heated moments they’d shared over the last few days.

“I’m sorry. That wasn’t the best way to ask. Will you go with me?” She did want him to be with her.

He strolled toward her, his eyes connecting with hers and she shook to the marrow of her bones. He was close and her body instantly warmed, craving his touch. “But now are you more obligated because I pointed out the lack of enthusiasm?”

“DJ, you’re not insecure. Are you sure you just don’t want to go and you don’t know how to tell me?”

“Nope, not at all. I want to go. It’ll be the first time I’ve been at the Rhinestone that I won’t have to watch my back.” He laughed.

“Funny. Real funny.” She started for the bathroom. “I’m going to take a shower. Be ready to go in an hour.”

“You’re not inviting me to take a shower with you?”

She stopped and looked at him. He was devilishly handsome with his messy hair and layer of scruff. The rumpled sheets of the bed refreshed her memory of how she’d moaned his name again and again. Her inner thighs ached and her core was chafed. “Sorry, cowboy, but if you join me, getting clean won’t be the only thing we’ll accomplish…and I can’t be late.” She opened the bedroom door.

“I promise I’ll behave…but wait…I know myself too well and just the thought of water and soap on your body is making me hard.” His eyes twinkled.

“I’m flattered.” The man could turn her to mush.

It took all she had to close the door behind her.

She brought her gaze up and a gasp fell off her lips.

“Mornin’—or rather late afternoon.” Nash brushed past her in the narrow hall.

Embarrassment trickled through her. “Good afternoon.” Her voice shook.

“I just had to grab something from my bedroom. I do believe DJ is feeling better today.” He smiled over his shoulder.

“Yes, he is.” She backed toward the bathroom.

“That’s great.” Nash gave her a quick wave and whistled as he started down the stairs.

Pearl quickly moved into the bathroom and shut the door. The house was suddenly very crowded.

Dropping the sheet, she turned on the water, keeping the temperature colder than usual. She needed to cool down the scorching heat of humiliation.

Later, as she cleaned the kitchen, a crisp, clean soap scent reached her nostrils. She looked up and found DJ who had snuck up on her.  He looked handsome in blue flannel, sleeves rolled up to his elbows showing off muscular arms, and his lower body was showcased in worn denim. Yeah, one look and her sisters would know she’d ridden that cowboy.

He whistled and winked. “I like you naked, but if I can’t have you nude, then I’ll settle for those jeans. Seeeeeexy.”

She blushed. “Thank you. You don’t look too bad yourself.” She stood on tiptoes and kissed his cheek. “You ready?”

“As long as you promise I’m not walking into an ambush.”

“What do you mean?”

“I keep getting this image of you and your sisters, shotguns in hand, ganging up on me and making me pay for all of my wrongdoings of the past.” He knuckled his hat.

“Are you saying that you’re afraid of my siblings?” She bit her lip to keep from laughing.

“Any man should fear three women who carry guns.”

She took a step back. “I know we’ve given the impression of being the gun-wielding, trouble-making sisters, but that’s not who we are at all. You’ll see.” She hoped her sisters were on their best behavior.

DJ leaned his chair back on two legs and propped his feet up on the rail. Pearls’ laughter billowed out from inside the house through the open windows as she and her sisters talked about the wedding. He smiled. He loved her laugh.

The screen door opened and he looked up as Spark Ryder, Jewels’ fiancé, stepped out onto the porch.

“It can be a little overwhelming at times. The three of them get together and the entire world is lost. But nothing like seeing my lady happy. Maybe this will help.” Spark handed DJ a beer.

DJ shrugged and accepted the offering. “I know how it is. My brothers and I can get a little loud at times.  Sure is a good evening for a beer, especially after the steaks you grilled.” He popped the lid and took a long drink. “The big day’s coming up it seems.”

Spark took a seat and stretched his legs, hooking his ankles. “I never thought I’d say this, but I’m ready to hang up single life and start my new life with Jewels.”

DJ liked Spark. He seemed like a man with solid morals and bro-material. During dinner he’d talked about his years on the rodeo circuit and no doubt the man had balls. “You two seem real happy. Congratulations.”

Spark rubbed his chin with his thumb. “I could be mistaken, but it would seem you and Pearl’s agreement might be working out.”

“I guess it is.” DJ tightened his hold on the bottle. “I’m not so sure she’ll be as sweet once she leaves the R&R though.”

Spark laughed. “I understand you two have a difficult relationship, but I didn’t see that tonight.”

Nodding, DJ drank half his beer. Swallowing, he sighed. “It’s a rumor that the Stone girls have a way of making a cowboy sweat, but I’m seeing this up close and personal.”

“Buddy, trust you me, it wasn’t all pleasure the first time I met Jewels. Whoo-wee did that girl ruffle my feathers. I’d rather take a shot to the ass than have wax strips used on any part of my body ever again.”

DJ almost choked on his beer. “Wax strips?”

Spark nodded. “Yeah, Jewels believed I played Em, which I didn’t, and thought she’d teach me a lesson by tying me up to a bedpost and slapping strips of wax all over my legs. Damn son-of-a-guns stung like hell ripping them off. I ain’t too manly to admit that I shed a tear or two that day.” His tan turned a shade paler.

“How did you forgive her?”

“I think I’d fallen the minute I saw her and after you get a taste of true love, my friend, it’s all done for. My girl is as sweet as they come, and as feisty as those wild bulls I used to ride, but I figure I can handle it.”

DJ rubbed the back of his neck. “How did you know it was love and not lust?”

“When you can’t get a woman out of your mind, no matter how much work you drown yourself in, it’s a pretty good possibility she’s already in your heart. Once she’s claimed a spot, she’s there forever.” Spark smiled. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The creaking of the screen door brought both of their heads up. Jewels and Pearl slipped out. They were very similar in looks, but Pearl had a tint of red to her hair and lighter eyes. Jewels bent beside Spark and gave him a kiss on the cheek. The affection between them couldn’t be missed. “Hey, cowboy. I need some company while I run into town and grab some odds and ends for the wedding.”

Spark lifted his chin. “Is Em going with you?” Jewels shook her head. “Oh, you’re wanting me to go.”

Jewels smiled. “Well, you don’t have to…” She stood up, tucked her bottom lip between her teeth and batted her lashes.
