He
scanned her eyes, caressing her cheek tenderly. “Kerrigan, did I hurt you? Are you all right?”

“Yes, I’m okay.”
Her words were spoken softly, breathy.

He studied her beautiful face, flustered and bright-eyed. “How do you feel?” he asked, tenderly stroking her cheek.

She placed her small hand on his chest. “The blinders have come off as if I’m seeing for the first time. How about you?”

He chuckled softly at her thoughtfulness. He wanted her first time to be perfect and yet after giving her virginity to him, she was concerned about him. He leaned down, kissed her tenderly on the forehead and then pulled away. “You’re an amazing woman. I feel the same way as you do, blinders off.”

He knew his heart had found a home. “Get some rest sweetheart. I’m not done with you yet,” he warned, pulling her close and wrapping his body around her protectively.

T
hey drifted off into a light sleep.

He
had ravished her unreservedly, making passionate love to her all throughout the night. Hours had passed. It was after five o’clock in the morning after their last bout. He gently lowered her legs from over his shoulders.

“Sweetheart, you okay? How do you
feel? Did I hurt you?”

Her eyes were
heavy, but she managed to speak a few words. “I’m tired and sore, but I’m fine.” She had never known such delicious pain and pleasure all at once. Axel had shattered her senses and blown her mind, and she knew her heart was in serious jeopardy.

She
gasped and winced as he pulled out of her slowly. He wrapped her in his arms again, her head nestled against his chest, and her hair cascaded onto his abdomen. With his arms and legs enveloping her, he nuzzled her soft hair.

Months of chasing Kerrigan had finally paid off. She nestled in the safety of his arms. His heart pounded in his chest and he breathed deeply, his insides cleared of anxiety. Sex with a woman wasn’t novel, but he had never made love to a woman before tonight. Suddenly, the realization dawned on him. He needed to tell her what was in his heart, and coming to terms with the decision hadn’t been difficult for him.

“I love you baby. I want your heart, and I’m ready to give you mine. I want you for the rest of my life, and I want to be the man you need,” he whispered sweetly into her ear as he held her close.

She
must have been too exhausted to comprehend his words because there was no reply. He glanced down at her beautiful face and discovered that she had slipped away into a deep slumber. A nagging thought formed in his head and his gut churned. His eyes fixed on her. There was a hidden emotion captive behind her eyes whenever she looked at him—fear. He wondered if her eyes would look differently tomorrow. Heavily laden with random thoughts, his mind cleared. Soon after, his heavy eyelids shut, and he drifted off to sleep.

The story continues in book two, Closer To You.

Excerpt from Closer To You

The morning came crashing into
Kerrigan’s senses and her eyes fluttered open. Had last night been a dream? The thought was fleeting as soon as she registered the pain between her legs and deep in her belly. Axel had left her there alone. A million thoughts raced through her mind all at once. The most terrifying of them, he had taken her virginity, and now he would discard her. She tried to move, but every limb ached. Rolling over, she reached for the clock on her nightstand. Ten o’clock.
Shit!
Her manager Marie would be livid.

Then she spotted the small folded piece of paper
next to the clock. Nausea came over her as her fingers clumsily opened the note. She released the breath she hadn’t realized she held as she began to read.
