What’s Up Fam!!

It has been a wonderful two full years in business. Within those 2 years, The Cartel Publications is stronger than ever and growing. We are extremely excited about the direction the company is taking and we know you too are just as excited. Although we are ever evolving, we will ALWAYS bring the same fire that we promised from our first published novel, “Shyt List”

Now, on to our current book by Ms. T. Styles. First and foremost, all bullshit aside, T. Styles has a body of published work, not to be fucked wit’, that goes without saying. Not only that, she is finally, in my humble opinion, being recognized as one of the best to write it in her field. Recently, she was named as being one of the Top 50 Urban Authors and her latest novel proves she is here to stay. With that said, I am happy to introduce to you, “Raunchy”. This novel is everything the title means and more. We do not recommend you read this one while sneaking as it will have you yell out loud in disbelief and disgust! Trust me, this one will turn your stomach and keep you wanting more, so get ready.

Aight ya’ll in keeping with tradition, with every novel you all know by now we shine a spotlight on an author who is either a vet or a new comer makin’ their way in this literary world. In this novel, we recognize:

“Florence Scovel Shinn”

Mrs. Scovel Shinn is a Metaphysical writer who gained fame in her 1925 self-published novel, “The Game of Life and How to Play It”. Her teachings, although started decades ago, continue to inspire and uplift today. I personally have benefited from Mrs. Scovell Shinn and recommend all of her writings to anyone in need of guidance.

On that note Fam, I’ma leave ya’ll to it! Go head, call out sick from work, go grab your favorite snack and get ready to read one of the best novels of the year!

Be easy!

Acknowledgements

I hate this person…Harmony Phillips. I hate her because she hates back…because she can’t be anything different than what she was taught to be. Still, I feel for her, like I feel for all of the women, who lay with a man, producing a child minus any love or compassion. I’m resentful of people for bringing kids into this world only to fin for themselves, yet I understand how it happens. I understand how one bad seed begats another one. I understand how unless we learn to love ourselves, and work to be stronger parents and people, keeping all those out of our family business who may mean us harm, we are doomed.

So I acknowledge all the mothers who do their best because their hearts are in the right place. I acknowledge those who don’t know enough to raise a child, but have the wisdom to ask someone who does.

To you I say, Thank you.

PART ONE

Prologue

Summer of 1976

Fort Washington, Maryland

Harmony! Harmony…Wake up!” Estelle Pointer yelled at her five-year-old daughter as she slept peacefully in her bed. Flopping down on the edge of her expensive sky blue canopy bed, it rocked violently. “You hear me, girl? Get up now!” Her breath reeked of her favorite poison, tonic water and vodka.

The long blue silk dress Estelle wore was soaked in sweat and her light skin wasn’t painted in makeup like it usually was, instead she was frantic and angry.

What’s wrong, mama?” Harmony asked as she rubbed her eyes to see her mother clearly. Her soft curly black hair was pulled tightly back into a floppy ponytail, and a few loose curls rounded her angelic face. Her cheeks were rosy red, like always when she was excited for any reason. “Is daddy hurt?”

Don’t worry about that shit, hussy! Just get your fuckin’ ass up…we moving tonight!” She screamed throwing the covers off her body. The cold air attacked her naked legs. “Go put some clothes on and meet me outside in fifteen minutes.” When Harmony appeared motionless she said, “Do you hear me, girl?” Harmony nodded quickly. “Don’t make me fuck you up! Outside in fifteen minutes!”

She wanted to obey Estelle by doing her best to rush downstairs, but what about her things? Although very young, she had a jewelry box full of diamond earrings, gold bangles and gold necklaces. Like Estelle, she’d become accustomed to luxury, and she wanted to know if her mother had a plan for her personal things as she was sure she had one for her own things.

Ma,…What about my things?” Harmony asked before getting dressed. “I don’t want to leave without my jewelry.”

Estelle turned around and smacked her in the face. “Bitch, you heard me! Get dressed!”

Harmony jumped out of bed as quickly as her body could move, while her mother disappeared into the darkness of the house, slamming the door behind her.

I hate her!” She thought aloud.

She didn’t care what that bitch had to say, she was taking her fucking jewelry. Since she hadn’t dressed herself before, because it was the nanny’s job, she didn’t know what to wear. So she chose to keep her pink pajama pants on and put on a white t-shirt. Then she stuffed her jewelry in her panties.

I’m not ready yet. So stay in your room.” Estelle said reentering. “I’ll be back for you in ten minutes.” She closed the door again.
