“I’ll never hurt you
, Sierra, I hope you can see that now.”

I nod, gripping his face and kissing him harder. I can’t get enough of him.
Of his taste. Of his lips. Everything about him is intoxicating.

“I want all of you
, Marcus.”

He grazes his lips across my jaw. “And you’ll have all of me, sweet girl.”

CHAPTER 16

“Gi
rl, I bet you look hawt!” Quinn says over the phone, later that evening as I’m waiting for Marcus.

“I don’t know
, this dress is awfully tight.”

“A dress is never too tight.”

“I so don’t want to go to this,” I grumble, staring at myself in the mirror. I do look nice, in my tight, black, shimmering V neck dress with black high heels and a silver clutch.

“You’ll have a
blast, it’ll be a great experience.”

“That’s true,” I admit.

“And you might meet someone who wants to give you a job.”

I never thought of that. “Well, that could be good. How’s school?”

“Gah, you know, law is boring the crap out of me. If it’s not screwing with my mind it’s boring me.”

I giggle. “It’s not that bad, is it?”

“Some days I don’t understand a damn thing I’m learning and other times it’s so god dammed simple it hurts.”

“That’s law for you.”

“Well, it’ll give me a good career in the end. Hey, did I tell you Raine is going out with Huckleberry?”

I snort and then burst out laughing. Quinn and I have called a boy in our class Huckleberry for as long as I can remember
because he has the exact same look as the boy from the movie Huckleberry Fin, with his long shabby looking hair and the clothes he wears. He’s quite an attractive guy, and Raine has always had a bit of a thing for him.

“Wow, so she is getting it on with Huckleberry, I saw that one coming from a mile.” I laugh.

“Yep, they’re going on a ‘air quote’ date.”

I chuckle.
“Uh oh, little Huckleberry babies coming our way.”

“What’s his real name anyway?”

I think a moment. “Jeremy….maybe?”

“We’re bad people
, Sierra, we’re going to hell.”

I laugh again. “Yep, we sure are.”

“Anyway, I gotta roll. Love you babes!”

“Love you too.”

I hang up and smile to myself, Quinn always makes me feel better. I fix my hair, which is flowing in loose curls around my shoulders and check my make up before heading towards the door. Just as I’m about to open it, I hear a knock. Taking a deep breath I open it to see Marcus and Chayne standing and smiling at me. My heart clenches but I force a smile. I watch as Marcus drags his gaze down my body, god, could he be any more obvious? Chayne isn’t paying attention, because she’s doing the same thing, only she has a scowl on her face. Whatever lady, like I could ever compare to you.

She’s wearing a tight, red dress that hugs her body and fans out around her legs. Her gorgeous blonde hair is tack straight and down, and her
makeup is so perfect she looks like a god dammed model. Marcus looks divine in his pinstripe suit with a dark blue tie. When he finally tears his gaze from my body, he meets my eyes and a small smile appears on his beautiful face.

“Ready, Miss Walters?” he asks.

“Ready. Good evening, Chayne.”

Chayne forces a fake smile. “Evening, Sierra.”

We all walk outside and slip into the limos waiting for us. When we get in, Marcus sits across from me and Chayne slides up awfully close to him, gripping his hand. He doesn’t pull away, which upsets me just a little because I was so sure he was going to try and end things tonight, and now I suppose he’s not going to. I stare out the window as we drive, I can feel Marcus’ gaze on my face, but I can’t force myself to look at him or Chayne, with her hand now running up his leg.

“Chayne,” he murmurs, removing her hand.

“Aw baby, come on. I’m in the mood tonight,” she whispers, thinking I can’t hear her.

“Oh
really, after six months?”

“Aw Marcus, don’t be like that. Tonight I can show you exactly how much I’ve missed you. Don’t push me away.
We used to have so much fun together. You can tie me up like you used to…”

I find the knob on the door for the volume to the radio, and turn it up. Both Marcus and Chayne stare over at me, but I just keep staring out the window.

“Would you like a drink, Sierra?” Marcus asks.

“Sure,” I mutter.

He opens the mini bar and pulls out a bottle of whiskey and vodka. He makes Chayne a drink first, and hands it to her. She purrs her thank you and sips it like a little lady. Pffft. When Marcus goes to pour vodka for me, I put up my hand. “Whiskey for me,” I say, meeting his gaze.

“Are you sure about that?”

“I’m sure.”

He pours a whiskey and goes to mix it but I take the glass and shoot it back, straight. Chayne gives me a dirty look, but I simply smile at her and put the glass back down in front of Marcus. He mouths ‘stop it’ to me and shoves the glass
back in the fridge so I can’t drink anymore. I turn and stare back out the window. This could be a long night.

~*~*~*~

The charity party is huge, crawling with celebrities, guests and people of high statuses. I’m overwhelmed to say the least and spend the first part of the evening chatting to all sorts of professional people. I am dragged from one person to another, and I lose Marcus during the evening. God only knows where he’s gone. When the speeches finally come up and I take a seat, I see him sitting beside Chayne just over from me. They’re in a deep conversation.

“Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the annual Charity Ball. We thank you all for coming and we hope we can gather some great donations tonight. We’re absolutely honored to have the
Speaker of the house, Marcus Harrison, with us tonight, will you all give him a big round of applause.”

Everyone claps and Marcus looks up, smiling at them all and waving.

“Now we’ll start the auctions, all money for these items will go to the children’s cancer charity.”

I sit and listen as they auction off items such
as antiques, bottles of wine and other such luxuries. By the time dinner is served, I’m starving. I haven’t eaten a lot all day. I nibble at my food, trying not to look like a starving, rabid animal. When I’m done and the plates are cleared, the dancing begins. I watch as couples get up and dance to the slow music. I watch Marcus stand and Chayne follows him as he walks out to the dance floor.

I try to tear my eyes away and convince myself it’s only for public image, but I can’t. Watching his arms go around her and watching her press her body against his and whisper things into his ear that has him smiling, I can’t help but feel jealousy rip through me. I drink flute after flute of champagne as I watch them dance. It’s when she leans up and kisses him deeply, and he responds, that tips me over the edge.

I stand and mutter a goodbye to the man beside me, who was talking about something I wasn’t listening to. I hurry through the crowd and out the doors. God damn this. The man is playing some serious games with me and I’m done with it. I am simply not strong enough to deal with constant bullshit. Whatever made me think I was good enough for Marcus anyway? I could never fill the part that Chayne does. She fits it. I don’t.

I rush down the sidewalk, my heels clink loudly as I near a corner. I’m about to wave down a taxi when a limo pulls up beside me and the door opens. It’s Marcus. “Get in,
Sierra,” he grumbles.

“No.”

“Sierra, get in.”

“I said no.”

He growls and leaps out, grips my arms and hurls me into the limo. I land on the seat with a thud and go to charge forward but he slams the door and then flattens his body against mine. I squirm angrily and push at his chest, but he doesn’t move.

“What did I say about running?”

“Get off me, get off!”

“No.”

“Marcus, I can’t do this, I can’t keep watching it.”

“It was an image,” he breathes. “It meant nothing.”

“Bullshit!” I cry.

“Sierra, enough.”

“No, not enough. I can’t play this game anymore, it’s hurting me, Marcus. You’re hurting me.”

He stills and his body stiffens. “I’m hurting you?”

“Yes,” I cry. “You’re hurting me.”

“I don’t want to hurt you, sweet girl.”

“Well you are.”

“I have to put up an image, you know that.”

“I know, but…”

“Why did you run?”

“I was hurt.”

“I don’t like it when you run.”

“Well, I did.”

His face grows determined and he leans down, grazing his lips across mine.

“Don’t kiss me after you’ve kissed her,” I spit.

He grins and then murmurs, “Fine, I won’t use my mouth.”

Before I can protest, his hand is sliding up my dress and gripping my thigh. I groan when he widens my legs so he can fit between them and he rocks his hard length against me. I whimper as it presses against my now damp panties. He gently rotates his hips, and uses his other hand to graze over my breasts. I squirm beneath him, angry that he’s doing this when I’m supposed to be mad at him.

“Stop,” I whisper.

“No,” he murmurs. “I told you…if you ran…”

He slips his fingers underneath my panties and finds my
clit, I cry out and whimper against his shoulder as he gently begins circling it, causing electric bolts of pleasure to shoot through me.

“We’re not going to do this
slowly, we’re going to do this quickly, angrily and passionately.”

“Marcus,” I whisper.

He grips his pants and jerks them down, when he’s freed himself, he raises my leg higher and drives into me with one, hard thrust. I cry out his name as he fills me, stretching me and making my body come alive. He pulls his hips out and then drives back in. My nipples become hard buds and my body jerks as pleasure threatens to overtake. Thrust after thrust, I build higher and higher, screaming his name as I get right to the edge.

Then he stops.

He just stops. I groan and squirm. He’s panting, his breaths coming hard and fast against my cheek. I cry out and shove at him, wanting him to move, feeling my orgasm die down. When it’s gone, he starts moving again. Oh I see what’s going on, he’s dragging our pleasure out. His breathing becomes heavier as he begins working his hips again, titling them on that perfect angle so he hits my sweet spot. I raise up quickly, my release so close, so ready.

Then he stops again.

“Marcus,” I bellow. “Please.”

“I said, don’t run and you ran…I told you not to run from me.”

It hits me hard and fast, he’s punishing me! Oh god, he’s punishing me. I spit a curse at him as he begins rocking his hips again. I want to be so angry with him but the pleasure that shoots through my body has me forgetting my anger. I groan and try to rub myself against him so I can get there before he feels it, but he’s too in tune with my body and as soon as I’m ready to come, he stops again.

“Fuck you, bastard!” I spit.

He doesn’t answer, he’s panting and his body is rigid. I know it’s taking everything he has not to come too, but he’s stronger than me and he’s good at what he does.

“Why did you run, when I told you what I’d do if you did?”

“I was hurt!” I scream.

“You should have spoken to me.”

“Fuck you, Marcus,” I cry. “Fuck you.”

He moves again, gently stroking his cock into my heat. I’m so wet I can feel the dampness between us, but it doesn’t stop him. He works me as I squirm, trying to push him off. He’s going to do this until I can’t breathe. I know he is. He’s punishing me because he doesn’t want to face what’s really going on. He’s hiding behind his control. He’s using it as a barrier to keep his feelings away. There’s only one way to stop him, and I don’t want to do it, but I am so hurt right now that I know I have to.

“Purple,” I scream, shoving at him. “Purple, Marcus, Purple.”

He stops instantly. I hear him curse, and then he pulls out of me, that easily.
He sits back and his back slams against the chair.

“Let me out,” I whisper, pulling my panties back and fixing myself.

“Sierra…”

“Let me the fuck out of this car, now!”

Marcus presses a button on the side and says, “Pull over, John.”

I make sure my dress is completely fixed as t
he car swiftly comes to a stop, then I open the door, leaping out.

“Sierra!”
Marcus calls.

I spin around and glare at him.

“Don’t you ever punish me for feeling again!
Ever
!”

Then I turn and hurry off. He calls out to me again, but I’ve said our safe word, he knows better than to chase me right now. When I’m safely away from the limo, I let my tears fall. I pull out my phone and I call Quinn. I have no one else I can tell about this that won’t say ‘I told you so!’
