Chapter 27
Sam
Watching all that crazy racing had my adrenaline pumping and I was stoked for the ride to camp. Jessie and I followed behind the guys as we headed back. As we coasted up to the top of a tall sand mountain, I realized the back side of it had a nearly sheer drop off. Josh and Cory had slammed on their brakes and were glancing down over the daunting cliff.
“Shit.” I heard Josh say.
Jess and I stayed as far from the frightening edge as possible, and we looked at each other with wide eyes.
Cory pointed down the sheer side and said something to Josh. Josh followed his hand and shook his head. Cory looked back at us and yelled, “Stay right there.”
The two guys took off across the top of the dune and circled around the next one and down until they disappeared from view. I looked over at Jess. “What the heck?” I asked.
My best friend shrugged her shoulders and looked as confused as I was. We sat there for a moment and then I climbed off my quad. I walked up toward the edge and spotted Cory and Josh pulling up to something. To
someone
. I sucked in a breath as I realized there was a guy lying unmoving in the sand. A green motorcycle was placed off to the side of his body. “Holy shit.” I spun back around to tell Jessie but she had already joined me and was peering down at the horrific sight.
Jessie looked as shocked as I did. “You don’t think—” she started. “You don’t think he’s—”
“Dead?” I asked. “I have no idea, but if he fell from this thing it can’t be good.” The man still hadn’t moved at all.
“Let’s go down there and see if they need some help,” Jess suggested.
I looked hesitantly at the steep trail Josh and Cory had taken to reach him. “Uh, yeah okay.”
“We’ll go super slowly. Just follow me and you’ll be fine.”
I nodded to her. “Okay,” I agreed as I walked back over to my four-wheeler.
Jessie traversed the slippery sand like a pro, and I felt safe following behind her at my snail’s pace. Josh and Cory glanced up as they heard our engines approaching. I noticed they’d removed the man’s helmet, but he was still lying stock-still.
“You stay here, I’ll go ride and get some help,” I heard Josh telling Cory.
Jessie and I pulled up and hopped off our bikes. We set our helmets down on the seats. “What happened?” My voice shook with the question.
Josh shook his head as he strode toward his motorcycle. “Fucking razorback. These guys who don’t know what they’re doing go hauling ass at any dune they see and they get a real big shock when they’re suddenly flying off a cliff on the other side.”
Jessie ran up to Josh. She glanced back over at the guy. “Is he okay?” she sounded really worried.
“Well, he’s breathing. But I think his back may be broken. I’m going to ride back over to the strip and get some help.” He reached out and gave Jessie’s shoulder a comforting squeeze. “Stay here with Cory and Sam. I’ll be right back.”
I walked over to Cory and grabbed his arm. He was standing next to the man, who was still unconscious and not looking too hot.
He gave me a weak smile, and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Hey, babe, don’t worry everything’s going to be fine.” Jessie came over and joined us.
The three of us stood there in silence, glancing up at the dune to look for Josh every few moments.
“Aghhh, fuck,” we heard a strained voice say. The man had woken up.
That was a good sign
, I told myself. Although with the amount of pain he looked to be in I’d bet he didn’t feel the same way. He glanced around and looked lost. “What the fuck—”
Cory crouched down next to him. “Hey, bro, you’re all right. Don’t try and move. There’s help on the way.”
The man’s face scrunched in pain, and it looked like he might lose consciousness again. Cory wanted to prevent that from happening so he started talking to him. “What’s your name, man?”
“Spencer,” the man replied weakly.
“Spencer, I’m Cory.” He looked back over his shoulder at us. “And that is Jessie and Sam.”
“Hey, Spencer,” Jess and I both called. Spencer’s eyes fluttered shut again.
“Who are you out here with this weekend, buddy?” Cory asked.
“Uh” —he paused to think about it—“My family. Wife and son are back at camp.”
“All right. We’re going to get you back to them just as soon as possible,” Cory reassured Spencer.
Just then I heard the motors of several bikes and saw them coming into view. Josh was riding back with four other guys in tow. As they got closer, I noticed two of them had medic gear tied down to the back of their quads. Cory straightened and took a step back. The men sped over to us and the two medical professionals hopped off and crouched down on either side of Spencer.
“We’ve got a possible spinal injury. We’re going to need med-evac,” one man said into his black radio. The other man began asking Spencer the routine questions.
Cory walked over and pulled me in close to him. He bent down and gave me a soft kiss on the lips. “These guys have it under control. Let’s head back,” he said.

The rest of the afternoon was fairly somber. We were all quiet as we packed our things up. Josh and Cory hadn’t seemed too surprised about the accident; apparently serious injuries like broken backs were fairly commonplace out at Glamis, which was a scary thought. Seeing poor Spencer lying motionless in the sand had definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm to ride. As much as I didn’t want to leave Cory, I was looking forward to heading back home. Back to the safety of the city.
Wow, never thought I’d say that.
Chapter 28
Cory
I glanced over at Sam, I’d given her a sweatshirt from the backseat and she balled it up to use as a pillow. She’d fallen asleep for the last stretch of the drive. I was bummed that we were almost back, that we’d be parting ways soon. I’d never felt so attached to a girl before. Typically, after sex, I was happy to see a girl right out the door and send her on her way. It wasn’t like that with Sam. Each time I saw Sam, it only made me want to spend even more time with her. I wanted to learn everything about her. For the first time in my life, I didn’t want to let go.
The porch lights were glowing outside Sam’s apartment complex. I pulled in the driveway and found a parking spot near her unit.
“We’re here,” I said as I shifted my truck into park.
“Hmm?” a soft sound left Sam’s lips and she groggily opened her eyes. It took her a moment to regain her bearings after the nap.
“You’re home, sleeping beauty,” I teased. She glanced out the window and sat up when she recognized her place.
“Oh good, I’m so ready for a hot shower and comfy bed,” she said.
I laughed. “C’mon I’ll grab your bag.” I opened my door and stepped down. I retrieved Sam’s duffel bag from the backseat and walked her up to the front door.
Sam took out her keys and opened the door. I followed her inside and placed her bag on the couch. She spun around to face me. “Thanks so much for this weekend. I had a great time.” She lifted up on her tiptoes and kissed me.
My arms instinctively embraced her as I returned her kiss. I lifted my mouth from hers and gazed down into her beautiful eyes. “I’m glad you had fun. I really liked having you out there with me. Definitely something I could get used to.” Sam smiled at that comment and kissed me again.
She dropped her arms from around my neck. “I should go shower and get ready for bed. I’ve got to be at the shop early tomorrow morning.” I let her go and watched her take a step back. She paused and lifted her finger to her chin in thought for a moment as she looked me up and down. “Come to think of it, I bet you’re in need of a hot shower too. And, you know, I’m all about water conservation . . . so maybe—”
I didn’t let her finish. “Hell yeah. Let’s go take care of that shower.” I stormed forward and swept her into my arms.
She giggled against my neck. “Second door,” she directed.
I carried her down the narrow hallway and pushed open the bathroom door. I set Sam on her feet again and quickly stripped her of her clothing before removing my own t-shirt and shorts. She stepped into the relatively small shower stall, and I followed, although my shoulders were almost too broad to make it through the doorway.
She spun to face me and laughed. “Sorry this isn’t the most spacious shower. It was designed for . . . regular . . . normal sized people.”
“Are you trying to same I’m irregular?” I asked, taking mock offense.
She reached out and stroked her thin fingers along my hard cock. “Nothing about you is regular.” Her eyes fell on her hand that was wrapped around my shaft. “You’re certainly above average in every sense.”
I reached around her body and turned the water on. Warm water cascaded down over our bodies as Sam continued stroking my cock, it was more than ready. I reached for both her wrists and spun her around to face the tiled wall. I pressed her palms up against the cool tile. “I need your pussy. I need to feel your pussy right now,” I said into her ear. “Don’t move,” I ordered.
Sam obeyed and kept her hands pressed against the wall as she jutted her perfect, round ass out giving me access to that sweet, pink pussy. “That’s my girl,” I groaned. I gripped her hips and slid my anxious cock into her from behind. Sam moaned as I pushed inside deeper. Her breathing became rapid and she pushed her ass out farther to meet my movements. I reached out and grabbed one of her hands and slid it down over the soft skin of her stomach to her pussy. “Touch yourself, baby. Rub your clit,” I directed. She seemed slightly hesitant at first, but as I continued to slam into her from behind she dropped her hand down and began teasing herself.
“Oh my god! Yes, yes!” she cried out as I continued furiously thrusting into her. I felt her tight fucking pussy clamp down over my cock as she came, and I knew I was done for. I quickly pulled out and pressed the tip of my cock against the back of her silky thigh as my seed spilled out.
Sam turned around to face me. Large drops of water clung to her long eyelashes and as she looked up at me I thought to myself that I’d never seen anything so beautiful in my entire life.
“Holy crap. That was some shower. Suddenly regular hot showers have lost their appeal entirely.”
I laughed. “Good, that’s what I was hoping to hear.”

After we finished soaping up and rinsing each other off we dried and I got ready to leave. I pulled my t-shirt over my head and dropped my cell phone into my pocket. I leaned down and kissed the tip of Sam’s nose.
“Thank you for a great weekend,” she said.
I smiled. “You too.” I walked to the front door and twisted the handle. I’d taken one step over the threshold when Sam stopped me.
“Hey wait,” she called.
I turned back toward her and lifted a brow. “Haven’t gotten enough yet?” I teased.
She laughed. “Can you send me one of the riding pictures from your phone? My coworker, Shelly, is never going to believe me otherwise.”
I stepped back inside and pulled out my phone. I opened to the photo album and handed it over to Sam. “Sure. Select whichever ones you want and I’ll text them to you.”
“Great,” she said as she began flipping through the photos. “Damn I really do look like a natural,” she said sarcastically. Her finger tapped the screen as she selected an image. Her fingertip swiped the screen to the next image in the gallery and suddenly she felt silent. Her face lost all its pallor and she looked up at me horrified. “Are you fucking kidding me?!” she yelled. “Do you think I’m just some play thing, your flavor of the week?”
“What? What are you talking about?” I was confused as fuck. I had no idea what she was talking about. I reached out for my phone to see what the deal was.
Sam wound her arm back and chucked my cell right past my head and out the door. “Get out of my house. Now!”
“Sam—”I pleaded. “What—”
She pushed me toward the open door. “Get away from me!” she screamed as tears ran down her face.
I took one last confused glance at her before the door slammed shut. I bent down and picked up my cell, which now had a majorly cracked screen. I looked down at the image on display. “Fuck!” I said to myself. “Fucking Megan.”
Chapter 29
Cory
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” I yelled as I plowed my fist through the drywall on my bedroom wall. I took a step back and tried to catch my breath. I couldn’t believe it. I’d finally met a girl I wanted to be with, and some slut had gone and screwed it all up. I knew that Megan bitch was trouble, but I could never have foreseen this epic shit storm brewing. All this and I’d never even touched Megan.
Sam and I had spent an amazing weekend together. She fit right into my lifestyle, and we’d hardly been able to keep our hands off each other. That beautiful, brainy blonde had settled herself right into my heart, and now she was gone. The look on her face when she saw the naked picture had been beyond heartbreaking. At that moment, there was nothing I’d wanted to do more than pull her into my arms and make all the sadness go away, erase everything bad from her life. But I couldn’t. I was the one who’d put it there.
I sat down on the edge of my bed and leaned my head forward against my palms. I scrubbed my fingers over my face and straightened up. I would find a way to make this right. I
had
to make this right.
Chapter 30
Cory
I’d slept like shit after Sam had kicked me out. But I woke up tired and more determined than ever. Determined to explain the photo and determined to assure Sam that I didn’t want to lose her. She had secured a spot in my life and in my heart so quickly there was no way I could let her get away.
I rolled out of bed and let my feet fall heavily against the hardwood floor. The floors of my little old house creaked as I made my way to the shower. As soon as I stepped into the glass stall my mind flashed back to the ridiculously great fucking shower Sam and I had taken together the day before. If I hadn’t had that stupid damn picture on my phone I could’ve been planning our next shower encounter at that very moment. Who was I kidding, I was still planning it. After all, I was going to make everything right again.
I thought of how sexy she had looked with water running down over her perfect body, the way her climactic scream had echoed off those close tile walls. I pictured Sam standing with her hands up against the wall in my shower, her amazing ass sticking out and inviting my dick to indulge in her unbelievably tight pussy. Fuck, just thinking about her had given me a massive erection.
As the warm water rolled down over my skin I reached down and stroked myself to relief. The entire time I slid my hand up and down on my cock I thought of Sam and how she knew exactly how to bring me to the edge.
I flipped on the ceiling light as I walked back into the sparsely furnished bedroom. My cell phone was over on the dresser blinking with a new message.
Fuck, I hoped it was Sam
. I picked it up and glanced at the screen. Missed call from Mike. I dialed my voicemail and listened.
“Hey, Cory, Dan from Fearless Powersports just gave me a call. They are filming a new moto video this week. Ronnie was supposed to be there but after his injury the other day he can’t ride, and they’ve chosen you as his replacement. It’ll be great exposure for you, and I’m sure you’ll make the trip to Vegas worthwhile. Shooting starts tomorrow morning so you’ll have to head out this afternoon. Give me a call and I’ll get you all the details. Later.”
Bad timing
, I thought. But, nevertheless, a video part with Fearless would be sick. Their company was a huge name in the freestyle motocross world and it would definitely help my career. I’d just have to fix everything with Sam before I left.
***
Sam had told me that she had to be at work early this morning so, after getting dressed and calling Mike to firm up the details of the trip, I headed over to Main Ave.
There was a small indie coffee shop next door to Beely’s Bookstore. I jumped down from my truck and headed inside. There were quite a few people sitting around sipping on mugs, and they all looked like they were regulars. Apparently, I must have stuck out like a sore thumb because a lot of eyes turned to follow me as I approached the order counter. Of course, it’s possible that maybe I just wasn’t the type of guy who usually frequented the joint.
I reached the counter and a friendly looking, middle-aged man with a nametag that read ‘Greg’ took my order. “What can I get started for you?” he asked.
I hesitated as looked over the extremely extensive menu. I had no idea what most of the items were. What the hell did
American

mean? I went for simplicity. “I’ll take two regular coffees and”—I bent down and peered into the glass display case at the front of the counter—“a blueberry muffin and a chocolate muffin.”
Greg rang me up and filled my order. I balanced the two steaming hot coffees and pastry bags in one hand as I pushed open the glass door with the other. The ‘Open’ sign was up in the bookstore window and I inhaled deeply once before taking the plunge.
I pulled the door open and the welcome bell chimed. There weren’t any customers in the store yet. I made my way to the counter and set down the breakfast goods. The solid door to the back employee area swung open and I let out a disappointed sigh when it wasn’t Sam who rounded the corner.
The short brunette girl flashed me a smile as she walked toward the front. “Welcome to Beely’s. Is there anything I can help you find today?” she asked.
I returned her smile. “Good morning, I was actually hoping to run into Sam. Is she here this morning?”
Suddenly, the girl’s expression changed and she looked me over skeptically. “May I ask who’s looking for her?” Just then the back door reopened and Sam, the goddess of my dreams, emerged. She was looking down at a clipboard, reading something, and she hadn’t looked up yet.
“Hey, Shelly, did that order of cookbooks come in—” She lifted her face and the words caught in her throat as she saw me. Her feet stopped moving and she froze in place.
I lifted a coffee and brown paper bag. “I brought breakfast,” I said.
Sam found her tongue and stepped closer. “Cory, what are you doing here?” she asked. Her tone was full of accusation. Sensing our tense conversation, the other girl, Shelly, stepped aside and pretended to busy herself straightening titles on a nearby shelf.
“I needed to see you. I needed to talk to you. I have to exp—”
“I thought . . .” Her bottom lip quivered as she spoke. “I thought I made it clear that I want you to stay away from me.”
“Babe—”
“And don’t call me
that.
” she quietly scolded. Her gaze fell toward the floor.
“It’s not what you think. I’m not hooking up with anyone else. That picture . . . I didn’t even know it existed.” I spilled my words out quickly. I figured it was my one chance to get them out.
Sam lifted one of her perfect brows at me. “I find that hard to believe.” She spun around and headed toward the back. “I’ve got work to do. Bye, Cory,” she called as the door slammed shut behind her.
“Damnit, Sam,” I said as I reached up and rubbed my hands over my tired eyes. When I looked up, Shelly was casting me a glance that was half filled with hatred and half with pity. She quickly turned away and scurried back to follow Sam.
