“Yes, but I want you to make love to
me afterwards.”

“Hmmm, you read my mind. Come on,
let’s go upstairs and get more comfortable.”

I scooted to the middle of the bed
and my legs parted, exposing all of myself to him. Max straddled me as he
kissed me deeply.

“Baby, you’re so wet.”

I wasn’t used to a man talking so
intimately to me about my sex, and his words embarrassed me. He wasn’t lying
though. I was soaking with excitement for his touch. And when he raked a couple
of his fingers through the exposed slit, his touch revved me up, and juices
gushed from my weeping opening.

His lips blazed a trail as he
lowered himself along my body, kissing me until he was on his stomach and had
my pussy where he wanted. He licked my throbbing nub then gently nibbled at my
aching outer lips, his tongue swirling and lapping up the warm liquid that
poured out of me. My sex was plump and ripe and ready. Coating two fingers in
my arousal, he gently pushed them inside.

He swished his tongue in a quick
rhythm while he fucked me with his fingers, until I could no longer hold back. A
white-hot orgasm overtook my entire being. I heard myself cry out for him
repeatedly as he continued his ministrations while waiting for me quit shaking.
My whole body jerked as he licked my most sensitive spot one last time.

Max lifted off me, leaned over, and
consumed my mouth with his as I opened to him, accepting the lunge of his
tongue. “Did you enjoy that, my love?” He looked down at me, his eyes darkened
with lust.

“God yes, baby.”

He lay on his back and guided me
over his body. “Spread your legs and straddle me, love.” Within an instant, he
held his cock in one hand and lined it up against my slick entrance.

“I want to be as far inside you as I
can.” His fingers clutched my waist, and then he shoved me down on him, one
inch at a time.

I shuddered as he filled me, feeling
my skin touch his as our hips met.
“Max…”

The friction of his erection
screamed through my sensitive sex as I once again came alive with desire. This
time, he didn’t hold back, or go slow and linger. He shoved me up and then
slammed me down as he arched his hips, driving even deeper than before.

“God baby, I love being inside you,
your muscles tightened around my cock.” He continued helping me ride him as he
pumped.

“Yes, Max! Fuck me harder!” He kept
filling me as my sheath gripped and slid with him.

“Ashleigh!” He yelled out my name as
his pace quickened. He grunted with every thrust, nudging my cervix, another
orgasm rolling over me before the last fully subsided. His fingers dug into my
behind as he stilled, his seed releasing deep inside me.

I couldn’t catch my breath as I
clung to him. The connection between us was growing, wrapped around our hearts.
He gently lifted me off his still-hard manhood as I lay over his chest, panting
in his ear.

He wrapped his arms tightly round my
waist and held me until my breathing calmed, then eased me onto the bed beside
him before he scooped me up in his arms and drew me close to his chest.

Chapter
Four

The following morning, I awoke to
the sound of rain and an empty bed. Throwing on a robe, I walked downstairs
barefoot. I padded over to the floor-to-ceiling windows and stared out at the
gloomy day, silently cursing the weather, unaware I was not alone.

“Good morning, love.” Max’s deep
voice echoed from behind, startling me just enough that I jumped. “Would you
like some coffee?”

“Yes, that sounds wonderful.” I
smiled at him as I turned toward him. “How long have you been up?”

“An hour
or so.
I couldn’t sleep.” He wrapped his arms around my waist,
pecking me lightly on the lips. “What about you? Did you sleep well after our
activities last night?” He kissed me again. This time probing deeper, parting
my lips until our tongues met and they sensually and silently communicated with
each other.

Breaking free, I gently reminded,
“Coffee, Max.” I took his hand and led him to the kitchen. He poured me a cup
of black, silky coffee, run through a French press he had found. I accepted the
mug, and we walked back into the family room, sitting on a sofa in front of the
windows. “In response to your question, yes, I slept quite well.”

Curling up on one leg, I leaned into
him. “Last night was incredible, Max,” I whispered, nuzzling his ear. Pulling
back to look at him, I rubbed my cheek against his beard and kissed when our
mouths met.

Mmmmm
, that it was, my love.”
A phone
started to ring somewhere in the background. “Damn,” he grumbled, as he got up
to help locate the source of the noise.

I found my cell on the hearth. I
picked it up and looked down to see who was calling.
“It’s the
fella from Las Vegas. He’s calling back!”

By the time I finished the
conversation, we had all agreed that Max and I would fly to Vegas to meet with
them the following Thursday.

I walked back toward the couch,
grinned, sat next to Max, and squealed. “They want you! Next week we make
things official!”

His dark brown eyes sparkled with
happiness. “Fantastic!” He took my face in his hands and kissed me long and
hard.

My phone chimed again. I snuggled in
Max’s arms and answered,
“Hi Misty, how are things?”

The young woman gave me a positive
report from the office in Atlanta. I said nothing about the news Max and I had
just received.

“Have you seen or heard from Lisa
today?”

Misty informed me that no one had.

“Since everything is quiet, why
don’t you close up at noon and take the afternoon off. Just make sure you
forward the calls to my alternate cell, okay?”

I smiled at Max as I put the phone
down. “The weekend is ours, sweetheart.”

“You carry an alternate cell phone?”
he asked curiously, as he grinned wickedly.

“Yeah, that way no one who shouldn’t
ever
gets
my personal number. Something I learned to
do years ago.” I took a sip of coffee. “Is there anything you’d like to do?”

“You mean besides making love to you
all day?” He smirked mischievously, “Well, the weather is being a pest. What
about if we went into town or for a drive? It would get us out of the house for
a while.”

“That sounds like a plan. I could
give you the grand tour. We could have lunch somewhere and stay here this
evening since it’s so nasty out.”

Mmmmm
,
could we
do
nasty things, love? I
don’t know if I can wait until tonight.” He nuzzled his unshaven face against
my cheek.

“Most
definitely…later.
However, I think we should get ourselves ready, or we’ll
never leave this house.”

After washing and meticulously
readying myself for our day together, I entered the bedroom and found Max
sitting in a chair waiting. He was freshly showered and shaved, wearing jeans
and a dark blue shirt.

“Ready?” I asked.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy.

“After you,” He held his arm out,
and we walked downstairs. I retrieved the key to Papa’s pick-up and we headed
toward the garage.

I showed him the ranch from the road
as we were leaving. With the rain, the idea of parking and strolling was thrown
out, so I cruised through town. Remembering a café not too far away, I headed
in that direction.

Pulling into the parking lot, I
turned the engine off and turned to face him. “I hope this is okay with you.
It’s nothing fancy, but they have some great bison burgers, barbeque and
stuff.”

By the look on his face, I concluded
that I had made a mistake in bringing him here. “Well, I don’t know about this
place. You mean
,
the great Ashleigh Thomas eats here
at this hole in the wall?”

Finally, by his grin, I realized he
was mocking me. He looked like a mischievous little boy. “I’ll have you know,
the likes of Ted Turner eat here,” I replied, acting as though I’d just been
insulted.

“Ah, well, if Ted eats here, it must
be good.” He laughed.

“Are you ready to go in, or are we
going to sit here and hurl verbal bites instead of taking the real deal?” I
tied my scarf back in place, stepped out into the elements, and ran to the
porch. He easily caught up to me. Raising my hand to his face, I brushed his
hair back into place.

He took it, kissing the palm and
staring back seductively.
“Thank you. You know, with that scarf on, you sort of look
like Grace Kelly. And I mean that in a good way.” A naughty sort of smile
brushed his lips. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, knowing what was
going through his mind.

The rain was still beating down
relentlessly when we arrived back at the house. As we pulled into the garage,
my cell phone rang. Looking down, I noticed the call was from Lisa and mouthed
her name to Max.

“Good afternoon Lisa. What’s up on
this Friday afternoon?
Better yet, could I call you back in a sec? I need to get
Mummy’s dog into the house.”

“Of course, I’ll be waiting.” She
replied, hesitation in her voice.

“Mummy’s
dog?”
Max repeated, trying to imitate my pitch. Laughing, he held
open the front door.

“Well, I had to say something. I
want to take her call, but I want to do so inside. If I’m not mistaken, my
father has a recording device in the office. I want to have a record of this.”
Making
a beeline for the desk, I found the device and set it up. I looked at Max and
sighed.

“Would you like a beer while you
chat
Ms. Lisa up?” He asked, smiling as he walked toward the
kitchen.

“Yes, please. Here goes, let’s see
what she has today.” I dialed her number. Lisa answered so quickly I barely
heard the ring.

“Ashleigh?”

“Yes, it’s me. So, what’s up, Lisa?”
I strained to listen for any background noises that might give me an idea where
the young woman was.

“Where are you, Ashleigh?”

“I’m in New England, as I told you.
Why?”

“I’m in Manhattan, and I still
haven’t found Max. I figured he probably hangs out up here.”

“You’re where? Did you say
Manhattan? What are you going to do if you do catch up with him, Lisa? What are
you going to say?” Max placed a bottle in front of me and quietly sat in a
leather chair placed near the windows.
His look stern and
intense.

“I don’t know yet. I thought perhaps
we could meet and make a plan—”

I abruptly cut her off.
“I don’t
think so. I’ve got family obligations I’m attending to.” I shook my head and
continued, “Lisa, you need to return to Atlanta today. This whole thing is
simply ridiculous. We’ll talk on Monday.”

“No, I’m staying until Sunday.”

“Be forewarned, should you involve
my company or my name in all this crap, there will be hell to pay. Do I make
myself clear?”

“I’m sure he’s here, Ashleigh.”

I tried desperately to remain calm
as I sat there. It must have dawned on Max just how upset this young woman had
made me, and he inhaled as he tried to coax me to relax.

“Lisa, as your employer, I’m telling
you to drop this silliness and go back to Atlanta.”

She disconnected without another
word. I tried to call her back, but her phone went directly to voicemail.

Walking around the large living
room, I finally sat next to Max.
“This has to be the weirdest trip
I’ve ever taken. But then, I’ve never had a crazy employee before!” I smiled at
him as he extended his hand.

“Come on now, Ashleigh. That’s why I
signed on to begin with—your crazy employees. Never a dull moment,” he teased,
grinning broadly.

I reclined on his shoulder. “I’ve
never been on a roller coaster like this, Max. And I apologize for getting you
dragged in the middle. You are, after all, a client.”

“Well, you can’t keep me out of it
since I’m her fixation, and I would like to think our,” he gestured back and
forth between us, “relationship has moved beyond one of client and employer.”

“You know better. We’ve moved way
beyond that.”

“I’m just kidding, love.” Suddenly,
he rose up off the sofa and began to pace the room, his face darkening as his
mood suddenly changed.

Startled and confused, I asked,
“What?”

He settled back down next to me,
taking my hand. “There’s something I need to tell you before all this crap with
Lisa blows up, or does whatever it’s going to do.”

“Tell me what, Max?” He squeezed my
fingers, looking straight at me.

“Please believe me when I say I
intended to tell you this earlier. I just didn’t know Lisa was going to go off
on the crazy train, and I didn’t want to add to all of it.”
