Chapter
Five

A wolf watched from the tree
line as Billy kissed Kiki on the lips and waited. Finally, just like the wolf
had been hoping, Billy didn’t go in with Kiki. Instead, he ran off to the
bushes nearby. The wolf knew what the bear was up to and wouldn’t take the
bait.

Being in a fierce rivalry for
quite some time, the bears and the wolves had come to know each other quite
well. Billy had already sensed the presence of the wolf and was sure that he
was being watched. The wolf knew that Billy hadn’t gone anywhere but was just
lingering nearby so as to draw out the wolf.

But that wasn’t going to
happen. The wolf was smarter than that.

A wolf knew how to fight in the
bushes while the bears were good in the open. So, if the wolf was drawn out, it
would limit its chances of survival. Besides, the wolf had broken away from its
pack and that made him weak.

The last thing he wanted was to
pick a fight with a bear which was about twenty times its weight.

The wolf decided it would be a
good thing to go away and come back another time when the bear was unprepared.
That was going to only happen if the wolf appeared in school where both Billy
and Kiki worked.

With that, the wolf turned and
walked towards the line of trees that bordered the forest and disappeared.

The sun finally rose. With it,
a grizzly can be seen walking into the thicket that bordered Kiki’s apartment
right before it disappeared. In its place, Billy appeared from the other end of
the bushes. He was keeping an eye on her hoping that the wolf would make a
move.

Billy knew that the wolf was
too clever to make such a move, but he just didn’t want to take any chances. He
was also sure that the wolf was after Kiki, but what he didn’t know for sure
was why. Billy was sure as hell that he needed to know why.

Chapter
Six

“You know, you are starting to
get a little bit queer Kiki. Ever since you started going out with that
incredibly hot janitor, you have been shutting us down. Now, I need to know
just what the heck is going on.”

“Come on Lillian. I always tell
you everything that happens. What else do you want me to tell you? You want to
know his size?”

“Yes… tell me the size of his
cock.”

“Gosh, I was joking and you
know that! That’s between my bear and- my lord.”

And that was the point where
Kiki froze for a moment. She just couldn’t believe that she let out the secret.
Her heart started beating fast, and she waited to see if they had realized what
she just said.

“Now, you even call each other
sweet names like bear and you don’t tell me anything. That’s just mean you
know… very mean.”

Kiki took a deep, steadying
breath. That was a really close shave. Fortunately, that was the end of the
discussion because someone just knocked at her office door. When she saw who it
was, her jaw hit the floorboards.

“Hello Kiki… it’s me. Or have
you forgotten all about me?”

Kiki couldn’t say a word. It
was Kevin, her long lost ex-boyfriend who just vanished without a trace. Kiki
told Lillian to give her some space so that she could get to deal with this
once and for all. It had been a while. Now that he was standing right in front
of her, she was feeling a little bit shaky.

Lillian wanted to give Kevin an
earful, and she though he was a lucky bastard when Kiki asked her to leave..

“Look, before you say anything.
I would like to explain. And now that you are a little filled in about what is
going on in the supernatural world thanks to the bear, I trust that this isn’t
going to be as difficult as I had anticipated.”

Once again, Kiki couldn’t say a
damn thing. The only thing she could do was stare back at him with wide eyes.
She had pictured this moment a thousand times and imagined what she was going
to tell him. Now that it was finally happening, she was speechless. The anger
that she felt all this time dissipated and only the feeling of utter shock was
left after what he just told her.

Even after what he just said,
Kevin seemed rather calm and collected.

Seeing that Kiki still had
nothing to say, he cleared his throat and continued.

“I know what I did to you
wasn’t the most responsible thing to do.it wasn’t fair to just leave like that.
It was unfair and uncouth. But I must also say that I was left with no other
choice.”

Kiki still couldn’t manage to
get a word out and continued to stare at him.

“If you want to know what
happened, please meet me at the bistro after you are done with your lessons. We
need to talk.”

Filled with disbelief at the
gall of this man, she finally managed to speak. “I don’t think that is
necessary Kevin. I am done taking orders from anyone. You left me and I moved
on. You just don’t do that and then come back expecting everything else to go
on according to your plans. Life doesn’t revolve around you. Now, just get the
hell out of here.”

Kevin’s hesitation was evident.
A part of him wanted to leave but a huge part of him just wanted to come clean
and tell her exactly what happened. He took a deep breath and plunged ahead.

“I was bitten by a wolf. And I
am one. I thought it would be a risk staying around, so I left.”

That was a total game changer.
At one point, Kiki wouldn’t have believed it, but after what she saw with
Billy, everything was now making sense. But still, leaving wasn’t Kevin’s
choice to make alone. They were in a relationship together, and they had to do
everything together.

At least, that was what she
thought.

It was such an emotional moment
and under normal circumstances, Kiki would have considered taking him back. But
this wasn’t just any ordinary circumstance.

It was way too late, and as far
as she was concerned, Kevin could just be lying because maybe he knew something
about Billy that no one else did.

“I think I have had enough of
this. I think you need to leave.”

Kevin was left with no other
choice but to do so. As he came from the office and stepped into the hallway,
he came face to face with Billy. They both had been picking up each other’s
scents for a while. Now that they were finally face to face, the tension was
palpable between them.

Billy was holding a broom, and
he clenched his fingers around it, breaking it in half.

“So, you are the bear who has
been hanging around my girl.”

“So, you are the wolf who was
foolish enough to leave her.”

Kevin blinked and his eyes
glowed as his rage started picking up. Billy, on the other hand, was ready for
some action. He had folded his strong fingers into a ball of fist ready to
punch a wolf into oblivion.

Before either of them had the
chance to do anything, the bell rang and  the hallway started to get filled with
kids eager for their break. Billy had to retract his claws, and Kevin quickly
put on his shades thus hiding his glowing eyes in time.

But even though they did this,
the two still stood there in the hallway eyeballing each other.

“I would like to stay and chat
but I have some pressing matters to attend to. Good to see you, my old friend.”

And with that, Kevin pulled
Billy into a hug and then left. Billy was angry, but there was absolutely
nothing he could do at the moment because of the kids. So, he got himself
together and went into Kiki’s office.

Kiki had watched the standoff
and was really scared. Thankfully, nothing happened. Still, Kiki had that
feeling as though her heart was about to jump right out of her chest.

“I think you need to stay away from
your apartment tonight. Go to Lillian’s.”

“Why?”

“I don’t think Kevin is here to
try and win you back. He is back to sacrifice you.”

“What the hell are you talking
about?”

“I could smell it on him. In
order for him to be accepted into a tribe, he needs to sacrifice a person he
loved, and that’s why he is back.”

“You say you can smell all that
on him? How is that even possible?”

“Look, my kind has been
fighting his kind for ages now. I know this because I have seen it before. It
has happened before.” he explained, his voice sounding somber.

Kiki was utterly confused. She
didn’t know what the heck was going on, and on top of it all, she had no idea
why the supernatural world had decided to pick her for all their dirty drama.
Whether she liked it or no, Kiki was already in it, and there was absolutely
nothing she can do about it.

Billy was the only person… or
bear that she could trust at that point, and she felt as though she didn’t have
any other choice but to do so.

Chapter
Seven

That evening, Kiki went to the
bistro where Kevin told her to meet him. He was already there having some huge
piece of steak. From the look of things, he seemed really hungry judging by the
way he was chewing at that boneless piece of meat.

Before he could even see her,
Kevin stopped eating and raised his head. “Thank you for coming…. I knew you
weren’t going to let me down.”

“Well, I guess I needed some
closure. But this has to end. I need you to get the hell out of my life.”

Kevin wasn’t really good at
handling rejection, and Kiki knew that pretty well. Now that he was a wolf,
nobody knew what he was capable of doing. He just smiled and tried his best to
remain civil.

“I know you still love me… and
I need to hear you make a choice…”

Before Kevin could finish his
statement, he started sniffing around. Billy didn’t really waste any time, and
he went inside the bistro.

“I see the bear has been
following you… how sweet.”

“I think you need to leave
wolf. Or die. It’s your choice actually.” Billy shrugged at Kevin.

Kevin looked around the bistro.
There weren’t many people around, but it was still a bad idea to take on the
bear by himself. So, he smiled and asked Kiki to make a choice. And she already
had.

“I choose Billy. Now, I need
you to go.”

Kiki wasn’t stupid enough to
think that Kevin was going to leave her alone without a fight. Knowing this,
she came to meet him with a plan in mind. Kiki had read a little bit about
wolves and knew their reaction towards silver.

She had a silver chain in her
handbag, and as Kevin walked past her, she yanked it out and put it hastily
around his neck. She watched as Kevin started struggling.

While Kevin was struggling and
attempting to shape shift, Billy quickly switched off the lights so that the
owner and the others in the bistro couldn’t see what was happening. Next, he
grabbed Kevin by the neck and threw him through a glass window.

He then jumped after Kevin and
tightened the silver chain around his neck narrowly avoiding a bite during the
process.

Kevin’s strength failed, and he
let out groans as he shifted back to his human form. The silver chain could
have killed him, but Billy  yanked it from his neck as soon as he was
unconscious. S

Shortly after, he heard sirens
a couple of miles away. Billy quickly grabbed Kiki, and they left the bistro.

“Do you think he is going to
survive?”

“I think so… I didn’t let the
silver finish him off. But it would be a couple of years before he got his wolf
powers back. In the meantime, let’s work on building a relationship that will
last.”

Billy had a point and Kiki
kissed his massive chest as they lay naked on the bed after making love. That
was a close shave, and the day had been such a rollercoaster. Thankfully, Billy
had come to her rescue, and now, she had never felt so content just lying in his
arms.
