Ryan gave a small hungry sound, and her stomach fluttered. He leaned to kiss her stomach, her hip bone, her thigh and all around her pussy in a tightening noose of licks and nibbles. As he moved closer to his target, Camilla’s flesh quivered at the warm puff of breath against her sex. When he finally touched her clit, she jerked at the brush of his lips.

She closed her eyes and gasped. Ryan chuckled, and the vibration was a subtle torture. Her body was sensitive to his slightest touch, primed by all the kissing and stroking and by the outrageous fact of having sex with a stranger. Tense vibration hummed through her like a strong jolt of caffeine.

Ryan pushed her legs farther apart. With little space on the couch, one of her feet rested on the floor, and the other knee pressed against the back of the couch. The position splayed her wide open for him. His intense examination shot an erotic charge through her.

Ryan made a low sound of satisfaction in his throat as he bent to tend her once more. He lapped between the plump folds, delving inside her, tasting her. She moaned and raised her hips, needing deeper penetration. She gripped the couch cushion in one fist, her other hand stretched above her head, reaching for something to hold onto.

Ryan returned his attention to her clit, torturing the erect bud with whip-like flicks of his tongue. Camilla twisted and writhed, but his anchoring hands held her steady.

“Oh, God. More. Please.” The unbidden words burst from her. She wanted to be fucked hard and deep now, and wanted to say that in the roughest language, to beg for his cock on her knees. The feeling shocked her. She hadn’t known such desires were buried within her.

Strong, steady strokes replaced the little whip flicks but just as she trembled on the cusp of orgasm, Ryan abruptly pulled away. He kissed her thigh and murmured, “Not yet. Don’t come yet.” He nuzzled her belly before moving up to her breasts.

She moaned and thrust her hips, seeking relief. A few more strokes would put her over the edge.

His eyes glittered and his breathing was hard as he looked into her eyes. “I’ll make you come, but it’ll be even better if you have to wait for it. Relax and I’ll start all over again.”

He did just that, tracing her breasts with soft strokes of his fingers then rolling her nipples. He plucked at one, while his tongue bathed the other. With nips and sucks, he aroused her until Camilla thought she would climax simply from that stimulation.

But at last he stopped—only long enough to roll on a condom then braced his body above hers, supporting his weight with bulging biceps. He rocked, his cock sliding over her pussy. She gasped and tilted her hips to gain better contact with her clit. Her pussy ached to be filled as wetness pooled between her legs. She wrapped her arms around his back and dug her fingers into his ass, trying to guide him to where she needed him to be.

Ryan’s breathing was uneven and his jaw clenched as he continued to rub his cock against her, prolonging the moment. Was he waiting for her to beg?

“Please, do it. Fuck me,” she whispered. The raw words she’d rarely uttered felt good and she said them louder. “Fuck me!”

He groaned and exhaled, clearly aroused by her command. Suspended over her, his heavy male body pressed her into the cushions as he guided himself to her entrance and slowly pushed. His face was beautiful at that moment, eyebrows knitted in a frown, jaw clenched, the intense concentration of a man fighting for control over passion. Camilla remembered loving those times reserved, rational Sam got lost in his primitive nature. But she guessed it was less of an effort for Ryan who seemed more in touch with both his body and his feelings.

Her pussy clenched around his girth, drawing him deeper. How good to be filled like this again, to have the weight of a man on her and to listen to his rapid breathing and quiet groans. She locked her ankles around his lower back, anchoring them together. His buttocks and back muscles flexed against her and the smooth glide of his thrust seemed to go on forever before hitting a spot deep within her.

He withdrew and thrust again. His groin rubbed her clit and delicious sparkles of pleasure shot through her. Again, he hit that chord inside her that vibrated like a gong, a low, vibrating counterpoint to the sharper notes ringing out from her clit.

Once more he thrust with a sexy grunt. Exquisite tension trembled inside her. Camilla arched to meet him, gripped him hard between her thighs and dug her fingers into his flesh. “Oh, yes. Yesss,” she hissed, and then she, who never spoke during sex, yelled, “Harder! Deeper!”

He growled and did as she bid, like a battering ram against a castle door. At last he broke through and Camilla cried out. Thunderous chords crashed inside her. She soared upward then tumbled through darkness.

In her arms, Ryan pumped faster, groaning and cursing softly until he too flew along with her in his own private ecstasy. She watched his face again, the eyelashes fanned against his cheeks, damp bangs clinging to his forehead, his lips slack and satisfied. He opened his eyes to catch her staring and creases fanned from the corners when he smiled at her. His lower lip protruded as he blew upward to cool his face.

He collapsed on her and buried his face in the crook of her neck. “Amazing. Thank you,” he mumbled against her skin.

Camilla loosened her clasped ankles, wincing at a cramp in one leg, and let her left foot drop to the floor beside the couch. They should’ve moved to the more generous space of her bed. She slid her hand from his shoulder down to the curve of his ass. His skin stretched taut over his muscles. Were sexiness and beauty the only qualities that had attracted her to him? It would be easy to discount tonight as nothing more than a much-needed release of sexual energy. But Ryan was also sweet and kind and interesting to talk to. She could imagine spending more time with him and that scared her. An actual relationship wasn’t what she needed right now, especially not with a much younger man and all the complexities that would bring.

Camilla tried to inhale, but his weight compressed her chest and she gasped.

Ryan lifted off her. “Am I squashing you?”

“It feels nice.”

He got up, pulling out of her and reaching for leftover napkins from their dinner to clean up with. Now that the rush of desire was past, Camilla was suddenly embarrassed by her nudity. She quickly found her discarded underwear and slipped them on.

At ease with his nakedness, Ryan rose and sauntered toward the bathroom. Why should he be self-conscious when he looked so good? His wide shoulders and muscular back tapered to narrow hips, a tight ass and long legs. He was a young god and all the more attractive because he didn’t act as if he believed he was God’s gift.

Really what could she offer him in return? Maybe more years of experience and wisdom, but even that was questionable. She’d lived in a sort of bubble for most of her adult life, protected in the cocoon of marriage and the safe environment of the university. What sort of life experiences had she actually had? What was special about her to make her attractive to a young guy with worlds of possibility and many younger, more beautiful women available to him?

Chapter Four

Camilla put on her tank top and jeans and carried the remains of their dinner to the kitchen. Disposing of garbage and washing plates, kept her mind off her awkward uncertainty that threatened to leech all the fun out of the evening. She was making this into too big a deal. She needed to relax and be a modern woman, have her fling with no regrets afterward.

“Hey!” Ryan’s voice behind her made her jump. He came over and slid his hands around her waist, pulling her against him and forcing her to abandon scrubbing the kitchen counter. The heat of his naked torso toasted her body.

“Why’d you get dressed? I like you better naked,” he murmured.

Camilla tried to loosen up, but neither her muscles nor her mind would unwind.

“What’s the matter?” His breath stirred the hair at her temple and he kissed the side of her head. “Don’t start second guessing, okay? You liked it, right?”

She nodded. “Yes. The sex was good. I’m just... It’s just me. I’m working through some things.”

“Mm. So you want me to get dressed and get out of here?”

“No!” Camilla turned in his arms to face him. “No. Don’t go. Not yet.”

He pulled her lips between his and let them go softly, then rested his forehead against hers. “I’ll help you unpack like I promised. Keep you company for a while.”

“That’d be nice.” She was embarrassed by how grateful she was that he wasn’t leaving her alone in this strange place. As much as she’d been eager to escape her old home and start fresh someplace new, she was homesick now—for the outdated wallpaper in her bedroom, for the toilet with the sluggish flush, for the stained on the living room carpet where a guest had spilled wine. She didn’t want to be here by herself tonight in this foreign apartment.

“What do you want unpacked first?” Ryan asked as he filled a glass with water from the tap. “Bathroom stuff is pretty useful and you need your kitchen things right away, too.”

She gazed around at the stacks of boxes. “I’ve brought way too much with me. I can see that. You probably have people all the time who think they can move everything from a house into an apartment.”

“It’s hard to give up your past. I told you how I hung onto my ex-girlfriend’s stuff. Getting rid of it meant I’d finally let her go. Hard to take the next step and make that change.”

He leaned against the counter, sipping water. Camilla had a hard time focusing on his face when she wanted to examine his body and the cock that had filled her so satisfyingly, still good-sized even flaccid.

“What’s most important to you? We’ll start there,” he said.

“My books,” she replied without hesitation. “I didn’t put any of them in storage. I couldn’t stand to, but I only have one small bookcase.”

“Come on.” He took her hand and led her to the living room. He picked up his underwear from the floor and put them on, dark gray briefs that hugged his form and made him look, if possible, even hotter. “You had us put the bookcase in your bedroom.”

“For my favorites. I want them close by if I decide to re-read one at night. The rest I guess I’ll have to put in storage.”

Ryan opened one of the cardboard boxes piled on the floor and pulled out a slim volume of sonnets. He flipped it open and read the inscription inside. Sam had given it to her on some anniversary or birthday, she couldn’t remember which.

“Is this a favorite?” Ryan waved the book in his hand.

“No. Not really.”

He set it down and looked around at all the cartons labeled “books”.

“Lady, you have a helluva lot of books.”

She laughed. “I know.”

He pointed at the open space between two small windows. “I could build you shelves on that wall, work the windows into it, maybe with a planter under each one. It could be the showpiece of the room with some interesting lighting.”

His offer was too generous and the sort of thing she wanted to avoid. It would be too easy to take him up on his offer and become dependent on Ryan for help fixing things around the apartment, or for sex and companionship. This was supposed to be her time for discovering who she was all by herself.

“You know what? Let’s skip the unpacking,” she said. “I don’t want to even think about these boxes right now. I don’t have cable yet, but my old DVDs are right here, I think.” She opened the flaps of another box and shuffled through the cases inside. “Want to watch something?”

“Sure. What’ve you got?”

Nothing interesting, she suddenly realized. Her collection was very dated. He’d think her tastes were ancient.

Ryan joined her, rummaging through the movies. “
Jerry McGuire
, a good balance of comedy, drama and romance. I love old movies.”

Old movies.
Camilla remembered seeing the film at a theater when she was in high school—not so long ago, it seemed like—but she smiled and agreed. “It’s a classic.”

“I’ll hook up your system. Why don’t you spread a blanket on the floor so we can stretch out more? That couch is a little cramped.”

Camilla fashioned a pallet from several quilts and comforters piled up. She poured them each a glass of whiskey, then leaned against the pillows and watched Ryan hook up her trusty old DVD player. After a few minutes, he handed her the remote and settled beside her.

“Do you want something else to eat?” she asked. “I probably have popcorn if I can find it.”

“No. This is all I want.” He sipped Sam’s favorite Scotch then examined the glass of amber liquid. “Smooth.”

Camilla savored the warmth rolling down her throat to her stomach, and the warmth of Ryan’s body stretched out beside hers. He still wore only underwear. She’d changed into shorts and was braless under her tank top. This was like a pajama party, a sexy one.

By the time the “show me the money” scene came onscreen, Camilla had curled next to Ryan with her head on his chest, her arm draped over his lean belly and a leg hooked over his. He sat with his back against the couch, sheltering her with one arm.

“Hey, you falling asleep?” he asked softly.

Her eyes flew open. “A little.”

“C’mere.”

He pulled her in front of him and began massaging her shoulders. He worked out from her neck, across her shoulders, then pressed his fingers along her spine, releasing all tension. His warm palms made slow circles that eased the little aches and pains in her mid and lower back.
