“Jack.” Her breath stuttered across his lips as her orgasm subsided.
They held each other tightly as their bodies quivered and shook in the aftermath of their lovemaking. He lay, warm and limp over her body, covering her like a blanket. She rubbed her palm absently over his back as he softened inside her. Finally, he moved away, pulling her with him so that she was cradled in his embrace, her secret millionaire.
“I have loved you for a very long time,” Jack told her.
“I never knew,” Georgia whispered.
“How could you not?”
“I never thought I would be good enough for you,” she said, sheepishly.
Jack brushed a tendril of hair from Georgia’s face. “How could you think that? You are the only one who likes me for the man I am. You’re the one I can trust.”
“Why did you send me such expensive gifts, Jack?” she asked.
He smiled. “It was a test,” he said. “To see if you were greedy.”
“Did I fail?” she asked.
Jack shook his head. “You passed with flying colours.”
“Does this mean I can have my old car back?” she smiled.
“If you like,” he said. “It’s in my garage. But I know you like the new one.”
“I do,” she said, honestly. “But I don’t feel as though I’ve earned it.”
“That,” began Jack, “is why I love you. You are too sincere for your own good. If I had it my way, I would provide you with everything you needed – to protect you.”
“You know I wouldn’t like that, Jack,” she said disapprovingly.
He nodded. “Which is why I became your partner, so I could watch over your safety.”
“Really?” she asked.
Jack nodded, and Georgia kissed him deeply.
“I’ve always cared for you, Jack,” she said, breaking the kiss. “But never thought you would see me this way.”
“You don’t think differently now you know I am a multi-millionaire?”
Georgia shrugged. “Just don’t buy me anything else,” she said with a smile.
“That,” said Jack, “is a promise I can’t keep.”
