As I crawled back into bed, he took me in his arms and kissed the top of my head. ‘What the hell is this we’re doing?’

‘That’s my line,’ I giggled, tucking in close to him, even though I was wet and warm. ‘But does it matter?’

He lowered his head to my ear and his breath tickled. ‘Nah. We have tomorrow night to figure it out,’ he said.

I nodded. Tomorrow night. And the night after that.

‘Hell, why limit ourselves to a night or two? I have the rest of my life, if you’re interested.’ I didn’t care that it sounded like some kind of drunken proposal. I’d never felt more clear-headed in my life.

‘Yeah, I think maybe I am,’ he said. ‘Very interested.’

And in that moment, with this man, it was the best answer in the world.
