“Neither am I,” Tom whispered and pulled him close.

Greg went with it. The music continued, and they swayed back and forth together. Greg rested his head on Tom’s shoulder and closed his eyes, letting Tom’s scent and heat work their way into his soul. He loved every second of it, and within minutes he just held on tight and went with whatever Tom had in mind.

“We’ve been on the cusp of saying things to each other; I’ve felt it more than once,” Tom said.

“Is that why you did all this?”

“No, I did this because I wanted you to know how I feel and that I don’t take what I’m about to say lightly. Ken told me once how Patrick told him how he felt.”

“I’ve heard that story too,” Greg said.

“It’s pretty amazing, and I knew I couldn’t compete with that, so I decided on something more traditional. I wanted to tell you that I loved you when we were alone, like this, so you’d know I was serious. I love you, Greg, and I love Davey too. You’re both the most amazing parts of my life. I knew you were someone special that first day at Ken and Patrick’s party, when we talked the whole time, ignoring everyone else. But I really know when I look at you. Just one glimpse and I want to smile.” Tom lightly brushed his cheek. “I don’t know what the future will hold, but I know I want you in it.”

“Even with everything that comes with it?”

“If you’re referring to Davey, then most definitely. Davey is a big part of who you are. You’re a father, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. He is one of the most amazing people on this planet, right behind his father and Howard.”

Greg stopped moving. “Are you sure you’re ready for everything being with me and Davey entails?”

Tom stopped moving as well. “What are you saying?”

“Nothing. It’s just that being with me means Davey will come first. You’re used to coming first,” Greg said.

“So you’re saying I’m spoiled?” Tom said.

“Well… yeah, Mr. Quarter-million-dollar Sports Car. I’m not saying I don’t love you too, because I do. You wormed your way into my heart fast, but I’m worried I won’t be able to give you what you’ll want. I mean, there’s nothing I can give you that you don’t have.”

“Except you,” Tom said. “And, yeah, I think I can learn not to be the center of attention all the time as long as I get to be the center of your attention when we’re alone. I grew up with selfish parents, and I vowed I wasn’t going to be that way. Davey should be the center of your life, whether he’s blind or not. I think I can live with being a little off-center….” Tom paused. “Wait, that didn’t come out right.”

Greg couldn’t help laughing. “I think it came out perfectly. You are a little off-center.” Greg smiled, and Tom scowled slightly. “Sorry. You were trying to be romantic, and I’m picking on you.”

“You did say you loved me, right?” Tom asked.

“Oh yeah,” Greg said, his chuckles dying as their gazes met. The heat immediately sent everything else from his mind. Tom leaned close, tilted his head slightly, and then kissed him. The touch was gentle and caring. Greg hummed softly as Tom slowly deepened the kiss. “I love you, Tom,” Greg whispered when he pulled away. Tom kissed him again, more deeply, their passion building. Greg wondered if they were going to head down to the bedroom, but Tom simply held him, kissing and stroking his hair. “Are we….”

Tom began to move with the music once again. When the song ended and the room became quiet, Tom took him by the hand and quietly led him down the hall to the bedroom. Tom closed the door behind them. It was like they were in their own little world. Davey was asleep, and it was just the two of them—no worries or cares, at least for the next few hours. The ever-present tension Greg seemed to live with melted away as Tom pulled off first his shirt, then Greg’s. They tumbled onto the bed together, kisses, moans, and soft whimpers filling the room.

“It’s been a long time, but I want you. I want to feel you deep,” Greg whispered.

“All in good time,” Tom whispered in return, and then he proceeded to make good on his promise.

tingled wherever Tom touched. Hours of soft, slow loving had left him wrung out, breathless, and covered in sweat, and they weren’t done yet. Greg could hardly breathe and he didn’t give a damn. All he cared about was Tom’s touch on his skin and the way he looked at him. When Tom entered him after preparing him deeply and thoroughly, Greg thought he would split from sheer pent-up desire. His hands shook, and Tom finally began to stroke him, offering some hint of relief to the tightness that began in his feet and went all the way through him. “We waited way too long,” Greg said.

“No, we didn’t,” Tom countered, snapping his hips. “We did this at just the right time. I love you, and you love me.” Tom did it again. “Now I’m going to make you fly.” And Tom proceeded to do just that, sending Greg on a trip that he swore took him to the moon and back. But the best part was afterward, when they showered together and then dried off and got back into bed. Tom spooned to his back, holding him tight. “Now this is perfect: happy, loved, warm, and content.”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve felt all of those at the same time.” It had been, but Greg had the feeling the next time was just around the corner.
